ANF unearths drug factory

RAWALPINDI, Sep 23 (APP):Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) unearthed a factory engaged in the production of drugs and intoxicated tablets, said an ANF Headquarters spokesman here on Monday.
He informed that ANF in a successful operation against a factory manufacturing chemical drugs and intoxicated tablets managed to arrest two suspects.
Acting on a tip-off, a raid was conducted in Danishabad area, Peshawar and the factory was sealed while the ANF team recovered chemical drugs, intoxicated tablets and other equipment.
A thorough search of the factory led to the seizure of a tablet punching machine, various equipment such as punches, dryers, mixers and scales. During the operation, both the accused were caught red-handed while preparing intoxicated tablets at the site.
1425 intoxicated tablets, 2.5 kg powder, 120 grams of methamphetamine (Ice), 35 grams Isotonitazene and 13 grams of Nimetazepam were also recovered from the possession of the accused.
The accused used to supply drugs to the students in hostels and educational institutions.
ANF operations against drug trafficking in educational institutions would continue, he added.
He further informed that a case has been registered against the accused under the Anti-Narcotics Act and further investigation is under process.

2nd phase of anti-polio drive starts in KP

PESHAWAR, Sep 23 (APP):The second phase of the anti-polio campaign has started in three districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, wherein 672,000 children under the age of five would be vaccinated against the crippling disease.
The health department has constituted more than 4,000 teams to administer anti polio drops to children while 4,896 police personnel have been deployed for their security.
According to the Department of Health, the second phase of the polio prevention campaign has started in Tank, Lakki Marwat and Dera Ismail Khan.

Desi ghee shop sealed over violation

SARGODHA, Sep 23 (APP):Punjab Food Authority (PFA) sealed a desi ghee shop over adulteration in the district, here on Monday.
According to official sources, PFA team, while acting on a tip-off, raided at the shop located at Block no 01 of inner city and found sub-standard and adulterated desi ghee from the shop.
The team also sealed the shop and got registered a case against the shop’s owner Iqbal over violation.

BMMC received approval for GEM board listing from PSX

KARACHI, Sep 23 (APP):Burj Modaraba Management Company (BMMC) has received approval from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) for listing Burj Clean Energy Modaraba (BCEM) on the Growth Enterprise Market (GEM), Pakistan’s First Green Energy Fund.
This approval is a big step for Pakistan’s Capital Markets, BMMC’s ability to access direct investments through the Stock Exchange for sustainable energy investments will lead the way for clean energy project developers and investors to come together through BCEM.
According to press release issued by BURJ Clean Energy Modaraba Company, The Initial Offering (IO) of Burj Clean Energy Modaraba (BCEM) will take place on the 25th and 26th of September 2024, marking the official launch of this groundbreaking fund.
The offering will consist of 10%, amounting to PKR 100 million out of a total issue size of PKR 1 billion. BCEM/ Green Energy Fund is Pakistan’s first renewable energy investment fund to be listed on the GEM Board.
This move highlights BMMC’s commitment to offering profitable, Shariah-compliant investment opportunities through capital markets while advancing the growth of renewable energy projects across Pakistan.
The approval from PSX for GEMS listing is a first step to attracting investment in the renewable energy sector through capital markets.

Three held for stealing drugs

MULTAN, Sep 23 (APP):Anti-corruption department held three employees of public hospitals over charges of stealing and selling medicines in open market,here on Monday.
According to a spokesperson,three accused namely as Farhan Idrees, Zeeshan Ali and Muhammad Ali were employees of lower staff cedar at Nishtar hospital and Children complex.
Anti-corruption officials recovered insulin,medicines,bandages,drip sets,syringes, blood bags and vaccines worth amounting lacs of rupees from their possession.
Further investigation was underway.

ICT Police nab key gang member, Seize 19 stolen bikes

ISLAMABAD, Sep 23 (APP):The Kohsar team of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police has arrested key member of a notorious gang involved in multiple motorcycle thefts, recovering 19 stolen motorcycles, including a Honda 125, from their possession.
An ICT police spokesperson stated on Monday that under the special direction of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Police Syed Ali Raza, ICT Police initiated a crackdown against criminal elements to safeguard the lives and property of citizens.
In line with these directives, the Kohsar police team employed both technical and human intelligence to apprehend the gang members involved in the theft of numerous motorcycles, he said.
He said identified the arrested individual as Mohammad Asif.
He said during the operation, the police recovered 19 motorcycles, including a Honda 125.
In addition, nine motorcycle number plates, several spare parts, and tools used in the thefts were found in the possession of the suspects, he said.
Nine cases reported at Kohsar police station were traced using the recovered number plates, he added.
He said the arrested individuals also have a criminal history, with Mohammad Asif being previously involved in 14 motorcycle theft cases in Punjab.
He said the operation was conducted by a team led by ASI Muhammad Ishaq, under the supervision of SHO Kohsar.
DIG Syed Ali Raza praised the police team for their success and announced rewards for their commendable efforts, he said.
“The recovered motorcycles will be returned to their rightful owners following legal procedures,” he said.
DIG assured that the police will arrest other accomplices of the accused soon, he added.
he said the suspects will be presented in court with solid evidence, and appropriate legal action will be taken against them.

PM extends greetings on 94th Saudi National Day

ISLAMABAD, Sep 23 (APP): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended greetings to the government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as the country celebrated its 94th National Day on Monday.

The prime minister, in his message, said that under the leadership of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Kingdom had emerged as a great country of the 21st century, according to a PM Office press release.

Calling Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 a role model for the world, Prime Minister Shehbaz said the Kingdom was playing a leading role in the developing world in business, technology, economy and other fields.

He said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoyed historic relations based on religious and cultural values and both countries supported each other through tough times.

Prime Minister Shehbaz said that the entire Pakistani nation was grateful for Saudi Arabia’s support in the recent stabilization of Pakistan’s economy and expressed the hope that both countries would continue to enjoy cordial ties in the future as well.

Active participation of Ulema, religious scholars stressed for reforms in society

PESHAWAR, Sep 23 (APP):Minister of Hajj, Auqaf and Religious Affairs, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sahibzada Adnan Qadri on Monday stressed the imperative role of Ulemas and religious scholars for reforms, establishment of peace and order in society.
Presiding over a meeting of the Muttahida Ulema Board here, he said that the imperative role of Ulemas and religious scholars could not be denied in reforming a society, adding that the the current provincial government regards the scholars with great value, so their financial problems and other issues could be addressed.
He said that the development of Madrasas and welfare of the Ulemas was the first priority of the provincial government.
The participants of the meeting expressed their special gratitude to the provincial minister for taking steps for the development of religious schools and the welfare of Ulemas and preachers and for conducting the recent National Seeratul Nabi (peace be upon him).
Secretary Auqaf Department Adil Siddique and other officers of the ministry were present on this occasion.

President Xi sends birthday wishes to PM Shehbaz; reaffirms time-tested Pak-China ties

ISLAMABAD, Sep 23 (APP): Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday sent a congratulatory letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, extending his warm birthday wishes and reaffirming the promotion of China-Pakistan strategic cooperation and the construction of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The letter received by Prime Minister Shehbaz on his 73rd birthday from President Xi is an extraordinary development in solidifying the diplomatic relationship between both countries, according to a PM Office press release.

Conveying his good wishes to the prime minister, Xi said that Pakistan and China had been enjoying a strategic partnership through thick and thin marked by mutual trust and support which remained unaffected by any changing international scenario.

The Chinese president recalled Prime Minister Shehbaz’s “successful” visit to China in June this year wherein two sides reached agreements on various matters and said that the strengthening of China-Pakistan ties was of great significance to him.

He said that he desired to work together with Prime Minister Shehbaz for the promotion of China-Pakistan strategic cooperation and the construction of CPEC.

Expressing his best wishes for the good health and success of PM Shehbaz, President Xi also reaffirmed his commitment to enhance China-Pakistan cooperation in various fields and work for building the China-Pakistan community of shared destiny in the new era.

Rangers, Police arrest notorious robbers in Lyari

KARACHI, Sep 23 (APP):Pakistan Rangers Sindh and District City Police in a joint operation based on intelligence information, apprehended two notorious members of a robbers’ gang in the Lyari area, including the ring-leader. The arrested individuals have been identified as Ayaz Ali Sial and his accomplice, Muhammad Hayat Baloch.
According to a Rangers spokesperson on Monday, weapons were recovered from the suspects. During the initial investigation, the duo confessed to stopping vehicles at gunpoint and robbing salesmen. They would alter the identification numbers of stolen motorcycles and sell them to two buyers, Wajid and Hoshiar, who transported the stolen bikes from Karachi to Balochistan for sale.
Ayaz Ali Sial, the gang leader, also admitted to stealing cattle from Gulshan-e-Maymar and New Lyari with the help of his wife. Alongside his brothers Fayyaz, Azmat, brother-in-law Murad, and others, Sial orchestrated armed robberies of various company vehicles in areas such as Lyari, Gadap Town, and Gulshan-e-Maymar. CCTV footage clearly shows his involvement in these crimes.
The suspects also confessed to stealing Rs 450,000 at gunpoint from a vehicle carrying flour in the Faqeera Goth area. Both men have previous criminal records and have been jailed in the past.
The arrested individuals and their recovered weapons have been handed over to the police for further legal action.
