RAWALPINDI, Sep 19 (APP): Two Pakistani Female Peacekeepers – Major Sania Safdar (served in UN Peacekeeping Mission Cyprus) and Major Komal Masood (served in Central African Republic) have been recognized for their outstanding performance and commitment in promoting the ideals of United Nations and awarded with Gender Advocacy Award by Under Secretary General, Department of Peace Operations, UNHQ, New York.
While serving in international environment, both officers demonstrated exceptional professionalism, dedication and made significant contribution to the Mission’s peace and stability efforts especially with regards to advancing women’s meaningful participation in peacekeeping operations.
“Their profound role in peacekeeping have been acknowledged by respective Mission Force Commanders,” an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) news release said.
“This recognition is a testament to the Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the UN Peacekeeping mandate, professionalism and diligent efforts by the Pakistani Peacekeepers to make positive impact in peacekeeping efforts,” it added.
Pakistan, the ISPR said, remained committed to play a pivotal role as a responsible member of the international community to help realize the ideals of global peace and security through active support in UN Peacekeeping Missions.
ISLAMABAD, Sep 19 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday said the second phase of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would help Pakistan transform its economy.
“We are entering into the second phase of CPEC which has huge potential of mutual cooperation in the field of agriculture, Information Technology, mines and minerals and many other important areas of mutual interests,” the prime minister said while addressing an event organized by the Chinese Embassy here to commemorate China’s 75th anniversary.
He congratulated the Chinese government and its citizens, emphasizing China’s status as a global power and a vital partner in international affairs.
President Asif Ali Zardari, federal ministers, diplomats, dignitaries, and senior civil and military officers attended the event.
Both leaders expressed their commitment to working collaboratively towards a prosperous future for both nations, underscoring the strength and significance of the Pakistan-China friendship.

Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong on the occasion commended President Xi Jinping’s leadership in initiating a new era of development for China, transitioning from a deprived society to a prosperous one.

RAWALPINDI, Sep 19 (APP): Pakistani Blue Helmets (Peacekeepers) have undertaken daunting engineers’ tasks in complex and challenging operational environment to ensure protection of civilians which has always remained their top priority.
The Pakistani contingent worked day & night and protected over 250,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the worst flood effected areas of South Sudan.
“The professionalism of Pakistan Peacekeeping Contingent has been acknowledged by the Force Commander United Mission in South Sudan, Lieutenant General S Mohan from India,” an Inter Services Public Relations news release said on Thursday.
The ISPR said that in the line with mandate assigned by the United Nations Security Council, “the Pakistani Peacekeepers are performing their duties for maintenance of peace and security in South Sudan”.
“The acknowledgement has been made in form of a letter to Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Syed Asim Munir; in which the Indian General Officer commended professionalism, dedication and unwavering commitment of the Pakistani Peacekeepers.
“Moreover, the Indian General Officer specially acknowledged the role played by Brigadier Shafqat Iqbal as Sector Commander and Lieutenant Colonel Shahbaz Aslam as Commanding Officer.
“The Force Commander’s recognition serves as a testament to the Pakistani Army’s reputation as a reliable and capable partner in international peacekeeping efforts,” the ISPR said.

ISLAMABAD, Sep 19 (APP): Ambassador of Egypt, Dr Ihab Abdelhamid Hassan called on Minister for Defence, Defence Production and Aviation, Khawaja Muhammad Asif here on Thursday.
Defense Minister exclaimed that Pakistan and Egypt enjoy cordial historical ties. There exists a greater confidence and mutual trust in their bilateral relations, he said in a news release.
In addition to this , Defence Minister also expressed that Egypt is an important country in the region and its stability and progress is vital for peace and prosperity in the Middle Eastern region.
The Defence Minister reiterated that Pakistan strongly condemns the Israeli aggression on Gaza and expresses full solidarity with our brothers in Palestine.
Defence Minister highlighted that the relations between Egypt and Pakistan have a great potential to grow in all fields, including defence production.

QUETTA, Sep 19 (APP): The Educated Youth Database has been established in Chaman to compile the data of educated people of the area.
Speaking at the launching ceremony of the Database on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner Chaman Athar Abbas Raja said it was the first ever database in Balochistan’s history set up in line with the vision of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti to keep the record of all the educated youth of Chaman.
He said Speaker Balochistan Assembly Abdul Khaliq Achakzai had taken special interest and extended his full support for the initiative.
This Database would be helpful for government institutions and non-governmental organizations in hiring the required manpower, he added.
The DC urged the youths of the area to take full advantage of the step by registering their details in the Database.

ISLAMABAD, Sep 19 (APP): Prime Minister’s Advisor on Law and Justice Barrister Aqeel Malik on Thursday said that consultation with the leadership of coalition and opposition parties along with lawyers, was underway for judicial and constitutional reforms.
Addressing a press conference, he said that the government wanted to adopt the amendments in the Constitution unanimously.
He claimed that many decisions had been announced in the past under judicial activism which affected the country’s economy and public interest.
The purpose of the proposed amendments was to remove the legal flaws and weaknesses, and ensure provision of fast and fair justice to litigants, he added.
The advisor said that it was prerogative of the Parliament to enact the Constitution and laws, and also introduce amendments.
He said that there a wrong impression was being given that the lawyers were going towards protest. All the stakeholders, including the representatives of Supreme Court Bar Association, and provincial and Federal Capital’s bars, he added, attended the last day’s consultative session.
It was stated in the joint declaration after the meeting that it was the sole mandate of the Parliament to carry out legislation and amend the laws, while it was the responsibility of the judiciary to interpret the Constitution it, he said.
Barrister Aqeel said that efforts were continuing to bring reforms in the judicial system, which should be appreciated.
He said that all the coalition parties had been taken into confidence and now the efforts were being made to build consensus of all the political parties.
Aqeel Malik said that Pakistan’s judicial system ranked 139 internationally. They were trying to bring improvement in the judicial system so that the common people could get fast and fair justice.
He said that consultation was also underway on the procedure of appointment of judges, and the formation of constitutional courts.
