Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI, Sep 25 (APP):Shipping activity was report at the port where four ships, MSC Maeva, Bentley-I, Al-Deebal and Scarabe carrying Container, Palm oil, LNG and Coal,berthed at Qasim International Container Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal respectively on Thursday.
Meanwhile two more ships, Clipper Trent and Hafnia Express scheduled to load/offload Rice and Gas oil are also arrived at outer anchorage port during last 24 hours.
A total of ten ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them a containers ship ‘MSC Maeva’ left the port on today morning, while three more ships, Maersk Durban, Roberta and Kition-M are expected to sail on today.
Cargo volume of 252,801 tonnes, comprising 201,613 tonnes imports cargo and 51,188 tonnes export cargo carried in 5,420 Containers (2,529 TEUs Imports& 2,891 TEUs Export) was handled at the port during last 24 hours.
There are 05 ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them two ships, Forza Roma and Hafnia Express & three more ships, SSL Brahmaputra, Cape Andreas and Maersk Cape Town are scheduled to load/offload Rice, Gas oil and Container are expected to take berths at FAP, FOTCO and QICT respectively on today,Meanwhile two more container ships, Teno and San Francisco Bridge are due to arrive at port on Thursday.

Anti-polio campaign’s goals achieved in befitting way: Commissioner

MIRPURKHAS, Sep 25 (APP):Commissioner Mirpurkhas, Faisal Ahmad Uqeli has said that the achievement of the desired goals set during the anti-polio campaign was a result of mutual communication.
 He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting with the members of the Divisional Task Force to review the performance of the anti-polio campaign.
According to a press release, the Commissioner said that the eradication of polio was linked to the bright future of our builders, adding no negligence should be made to achieved the target.
He directed all the deputy commissioners to complete the necessary arrangements during the polio campaign and take steps to ensure effective supervision of the polio teams.

Pakistan, China working together to build an upgraded version of CPEC: Chinese CG

KARACHI, Sep 25 (APP):The Consul General of People’s Republic of China in Karachi, Yang Yundong has said China and Pakistan were working together to build an “upgraded version” of CPEC as per consensus of the leadership of both the countries.
He said this while addressing a reception hosted on 75th National Day of People’s Republic of China here at Karachi Consulate on Tuesday night.
Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori, Chief Minister Syed Murad Shah, provincial Ministers, diplomats of different countries and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
Consul General Yang Yundong said Pakistan and China are good neighbors connected by mountains and rivers and good friends with shared trust and integrity.
Over the 73 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Pakistan and China have maintained mutual respect and support, forging the “ironclad brother” friendship, Yang said, adding that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is an important pilot project of the Built Road Initiative (BRI).
He said CPEC was launched in 2013 and now both sides are working for an “upgraded version” of the project. We should fully implement the important consensus of the leaders of our two countries, Yang Yundong added.
He said China will work with Pakistan to upgrade and renovate the Main Line-1 (ML-1) railway, continue enhancing other infrastructure, fully release the potential of these infrastructures, and consolidate the foundation for Pakistan’s sustainable development.
He said China will encourage investment in Pakistan’s automobile manufacturing and new energy sectors, promote technical cooperation in textiles, minerals, fisheries and agricultural and sideline products and further deepen cooperation between the two countries on all fronts.
He said China is eager to further strengthen cultural and people to people exchanges and cooperation, particularly in areas like education, sports, media and think tank.
He also refered post floods disaster reconstruction projects for schools in Sindh province. He said China firmly supports Pakistan’s efforts to combat terrorism.
He said he had served in Karachi for nearly a year and half and deeply felt the profound heritage of China Pakistan friendship.
He also thanked to the friends from all walks of life in Sindh and Balochistan for their long standing support and assistance.
Yang Yundong also shed light on China’s unprecedented growth and development  and said China’s development is to provide a better life for its people not about competing with other countries, let alone seeking hegemony.
He said the IMF recently raised its forecast for China’s growth this year to 5% in its latest World Economic Outlook report.
He said China’s GDP in first half of this year reached 61.7 trillion yuan.
Speaking in the occasion, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said Pakistan and China would continue to work together to develop projects that promote sustainable growth, particularly in areas such as renewable energy, digital connectivity, and industrialization.
He extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Chinese government and its people on this momentous milestone.
Shah said that China’s remarkable journey over the past 75 years, under the visionary leadership of its government, was a source of inspiration for many across the globe. “The rapid economic growth, the technological advancements, and the societal progress that China has achieved in such a short period are nothing short of extraordinary,” he said.
The historical and diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, have been strong since the era of founder chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, CM recalled and said that Shaheed Bhutto’s relationship with Chairman Mao Zedong was crucial in laying the foundation for the Pakistan-China partnership.
Referring to the recent visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to China, CM Sindh said it had injected fresh energy into this bond, with the signing of several agreements set to further strengthen our bilateral ties, especially as we look ahead to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, which Pakistan is honoured to host in Islamabad this October.
He disclosed that President Asif Ali Zardari will visit China in November this year.
Shah said that collaborative efforts in infrastructure development to the energy sector, our relationship with China has continued to flourish. “The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has played a pivotal role in strengthening these ties, and Sindh has been at the forefront of this partnership,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that Pakistan-China’s collaboration in various sectors, such as infrastructure, agriculture, technology and education, was a testament to our shared vision for progress,” he said and added that China’s expertise, combined with Sindh’s resources, could create new development opportunities, fostering a brighter future for our people.
The CM said that Pakistan attaches great importance to the SCO and eagerly looks forward to welcoming the Chinese Premier Mr Li Qiang during this momentous event, the CM said.  Chinese Premier participation in the SCO will also provide an opportunity for high-level bilateral talks, aimed at further deepening the engagement between two nations, he added.
A cake cutting ceremony was also held on the occasion and then Chinese foods were served to the participants of the ceremony.

OEC collecting data of nurses for potential opportunities in USA

ISLAMABAD, Sep 25 (APP):The Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC) an attached department of Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (OP&HRD) is initiating a data collection process for Pakistani nurses interested in exploring potential employment opportunities in the United States of America.
An official source told APP here on Wednesday, this is part of an effort to identify qualified candidates who
meet the necessary criteria for pursuing nursing positions in the U.S. healthcare system.
He said that Generic BSN / Post RN (16 years of education) must be for candidate with English proficiency test IELTS,
Overall Band Score: 6.5 or higher, Speaking Section: 7.0 or higher  OR TOEFL.
Total Score: 83 or higher (internet-based test or iBT), individual section scores including Reading: 21, Listening: 18,
Speaking: 26, Writing: 24, Credential Evaluation (CGFNS), Credentials should already be evaluated by CGFNS (Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools) NCLEX-RN Exam.
He said that candidates must have passed the NCLEX-RN exam, Male and Female Both Not more than 45 Years.

Eight power pilferers booked

SARGODHA, Sep 25 (APP):Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) task force team caught eight power pilferers during an ongoing crackdown launched against electricity pilferage, here on Wednesday.
According to official sources here on Wednesday, the task force teams raided various areas and caught eight accused involved in electricity theft from main lines and meter tampering.
They were identified as– Nisar Ahmad,Khadam Hussain,Deewan Ali, Arshad,Abu Abeda,Dost Muhammad,Ishtiaq and Aoun Muhammad.
Police registered cases against pilferers.

DPO for foolproof security of foreign tourists

PESHAWAR, Sep 25 (APP):The district police officer (DPO) Mardan Zahoor Babar on Wednesday chaired a high level meeting of police officers and issued a directive to make the security of foreign tourists foolproof.
The meeting was attended by all Divisional Superintendents of Police (SPs) participated.
The DPO emphasised to make the security of foreign delegations more effective as per modern requirements and instructed the divisional SPs to make foolproof security plan before the visits of foreign dignitaries and tourists to the district.
It was reiterated in the meeting that the Mardan police and people would continue the best efforts to protect foreign visitors and guests.

12 criminals held

SARGODHA, Sep 25 (APP):The district police claimed to have arrested 12 criminals from various parts of the district and recovered drugs from their possession, here on Wednesday.
According to a police spokesperson, teams of different police stations raided localities and netted Naveed, Saleem, Arsalan, Tahir, Wajid, Shams, Shahid, Arif, Rehan, Majid, Mubashir and Zain and recovered 1.8kg hashish ,nine pistols, five guns, three Kalashnikovs,490 bullets and cash in millions of rupees from them.
Further investigation was underway.

Pakistan, Turkiye agree to strengthen economic, security cooperation

NEW YORK, Sep 25 (APP):Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan wherein two sides agreed to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, investment, defence, and security domains.
In the meeting held on the sidelines of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly here, the two leaders discussed bilateral matters, regional and global developments, according to a PM Office press release.
They assessed preparations for the upcoming 7th session of Pakistan-Turkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) to be held in Islamabad in the near future.
The two leaders also discussed regional and global developments, especially the ongoing genocide and the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza. They called for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza and end of hostilities.
Prime Minister Shehbaz appreciated Turkiye’s firm and consistent support for the oppressed people of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Pakistan, Turkiye agree to strengthen economic, security cooperation

President Erdogan expressed his admiration for Prime Minister Shehbaz’s economic policies, which had played a crucial role in stabilizing Pakistan’s economy and commended his leadership and commitment to economic reforms.

Furthermore, he also extended his heartfelt birthday wishes to the prime minister who celebrated his 73rd Birthday this week.

Prime Minister Shehbaz congratulated President Erdogan on his passionate address to the 79th session of the UN General Assembly that centred on the Palestinian crisis.

“The way the Turkish president highlighted the issue touched the hearts of all those listening to him in the Assembly hall,” he told reporters after the meeting.

In his emotional address, Erdogan said that the values of the United Nations’ system and the Western world were dying in Gaza as the conflict continued there, calling for an “alliance of humanity” to stop Israel’s aggression.

The Turkish leader strongly criticized Israel over its military campaign in the Gaza Strip and on the Western countries for their support to Israel.

“Along with children in Gaza, the United Nations system is also dying, the truth is dying, the values that the West claims to defend are dying, the hopes of humanity to live in a fairer world are dying one by one,” Erdogan added.

Commenting on the country’s economic situation, Prime Minister Shehbaz told the media that agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) was in the final stages of approval as Pakistan had accepted all its conditions – some of them quite tough.

In this regard, he profusely thanked China, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, saying without their support this would not have been possible.

The premier said his government had accepted the economic challenge to the country and now, with collective efforts of the government and all institutions, it has overcome those challenges.

Later, on his X timeline, the prime minister said that he was honoured to meet his “dear brother” and “a great friend” of Pakistan.

“We assured each other of our consistent and continued support on core interests and also discussed regional developments, especially the situation in Gaza,” he remarked.

The prime minister also thanked President Erdogan for your warm wishes on my birthday and your appreciation of our economic reform agenda.

“I look forward to working with you to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between our two countries,” he added.

82 new cases of dengue reported on Wednesday

LAHORE, Sep 25 (APP):The Punjab Health Department confirmed on Wednesday that 82 new cases of Dengue were recorded across the province in the last 24 hours.
Among the total cases, 69 cases are just reported in Rawalpindi only. While 04 cases were reported from Lahore and 2 from Chakwal. One each case of dengue was reported from Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Mianwali, Mandi Bahauddin, Sargodha and Sahiwal.
Over the past week, 459 new cases of dengue virus infections were identified, bringing the total number of cases in Punjab in 2024 to 1245.
A spokesperson for the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department reassured the public that the department has made all necessary arrangements for dengue prevention, with government hospitals well-stocked with necessary medicines, including treatments for Dengue.
In response to the rising number of cases, the Health Department has issued an advisory urging the public to maintain clean and dry surroundings to help prevent the spread of the virus. They emphasized the importance of citizen cooperation with health teams actively working to control the outbreak.
Additionally, the department has provided a free helpline (1033) for those seeking treatment, information, or wishing to register complaints related to Dengue. Health officials stressed that vigilance and proactive measures were crucial in containing the virus’s spread across the province.

400 kg dead animals meat recovered

SARGODHA, Sep 25 (APP):Phularwan police on Wednesday recovered 400-kg dead animals meat from a car here at Salam Road area.
On a tip-off, the team under the supervision of Station House Officer (SHO) Imtiaz Ahmed intercepted a car and recovered the dead meat.
The team of Punjab food Authority under the supervision of area in-charge and veterinary officer concerned examined the meat and declared the meat dead.
Police nabbed three accused on the spot who were belonged from Nehang and Sahiwal area and were running the business of dead meat supply to several cities.
PFA team got registered case under food safety act,while police launched investigation.
