BFA fines 20 shopkeepers on substandard edible items in Balochistan

QUETTA, Sep 30 (APP):Balochistan Food Authority (BFA)’s inspection teams fined owners of more than 20 food and cold drink shopkeepers on selling out substandard edible items in respective areas of Balochistan.
According to BFA’s spokesman, BFA’s inspection teams conducted raids at food and shopkeepers in respective areas of Balochistan including Quetta, Panjgur, Muslim Bagh, Hub and Loralai and confiscated large quantities of unregistered and defective beverages including expired and prohibited products.
He said that a major attempt to supply non-standard cold drinks in the western bypass area of Quetta was foiled by BFA team during operation.
About 1200 bottles of substandard and illegal drinks were seized from a cold drink factory located in the Bypass area, he said adding that a heavy fine was imposed on the factory owner by confiscating defective cold drinks and labeling equipment from the factory.
He said that the factory owner was warned to fulfill all legal requirements including registration before manufacturing and supplying cold drinks.
 The spokesman, the authority’s zonal inspection teams at Hub, Panjgur, Muslim Bagh and Loralai examined the quality of milk and the quality of food items sold in various food centers.
 During the inspection, expired edible products and banned items were impounded from several centers and destroyed later.
He said that no comprise would be made on stranded of edible items and no body could be allowed to play health of people by selling substandard cold drink and other items in the area.

Gold prices dip by Rs.500 to Rs 275,500 per tola

ISLAMABAD, Sep 30 (APP): The per tola price of 24 karat gold decreased by Rs.500 and was sold at Rs.275,500 on Monday compared to its sale at Rs. 276,000 on last trading day.

The price of 10 grams of 24 karat gold also decreased by Rs 428 to Rs. 236,197 from Rs. 236,625 whereas the price of 10 gram 22 karat gold went down to Rs 216,514 from Rs. 216,907, the All Sindh Sarafa Jewellers Association reported.

The price of per tola and ten gram silver remained constant at Rs.3,050 and Rs.2,614.88 respectively.

The price of gold in the international market decreased by $4 to $2,653 from $2,657, the Association reported.

Dignitaries including the Commissioner of Hazara Division, the Deputy Commissioner of Mansehra District, local military officials, and leaders from the project company attended the ceremony.
In his remarks, the Commissioner of Hazara Division expressed his deep appreciation to S K Hydro (Private) Limited for its long-standing contributions to regional socio-economic development and its active involvement in social welfare initiatives.
He highlighted the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) by supporting education, constructing infrastructure, providing flood relief, and contributing to environmental conservation.
The Commissioner also praised the project for strengthening China-Pakistan friendship, stating that all levels of government in Hazara Division would continue supporting the construction, operation, and security of the Suki Kinari Hydropower Station.
In his speech, Danish Khan, Deputy General Manager of S K Hydro (Private) Limited, noted that Energy China specifically established S K Hydro (Private) Limited for the development, construction, and operation of the Suki Kinari Hydropower Station.
He added that the “Dreams Becoming Reality”CSR activities embrace a host of CSR activities including the construction of the regional viewing platform of the headworks of the Suki Kinari Hydropower Station, the Government Affairs Service Center, Healthcare Center and public restrooms in Kaghan Region, in addition to the continuously organized “Caring for Students” Fellowship Program.
Meanwhile,, the delegation led by the Commissioner of Hazara Division visited powerhouses, switchyards, and other areas of the Suki Kinari Hydropower Station to understand its construction and operation.

Govt to chase down terrorists, welcome those surrender: CM Bugti

QUETTA, Sep 30 (APP):Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Monday said that the state would welcome those who shun the path of violence and surrender, however, those killing innocent unarmed people would be chased down till they are taken to task.
Addressing a press conference along with Adeela Baloch and her father, the chief minister hailed her joining of mainstream, saying, that the state would always welcome those who wanted to become the responsible citizens and oppose anti-state elements.
He said that the state would fulfill its responsibility to protect the innocent lives dealing terrorists with iron hands.
CM Bugti warned the miscreants creating law and order not to compel government for closing the door of negotiation and launching major operations.
Expressing government resolve, he said maintaining the law and order and security is not a difficult task as it will take no time to eliminate the terrorists from this land.
However, he noted “government does not believe in launching military operations because it will cause a mass migration and unease for a large number of patriotic Baloch.
He said smart kinetic intelligence based operations are being conducted to curb terrorism, targeting those taking innocent lives under the garb of Baloch rights and furthering the foreign agenda.
Government is well aware of the false propaganda furthered by the foreign funded terrorists, he said urging youth not to become part of these elements and continue their education for securing best future.
The chief minister emphasized the parents to take the responsibility of supervision of their children and inform the government and its institutions timely in case they are disconnected with their children as terrorists were attracting the youth to bring them in their camps in mountains.
“A large number of youth including educated boys and girls are reportedly in the control of such miscreants who allured them of bright future and comfortable life here after,” he added.
Sarfraz Bugti called the youth to become part of the mainstream and don’t be allured by false propaganda of terrorists and foreign elements created for their nefarious designs.
He said the government is providing best free education opportunities to the youth at the top universities of the world whereas the terrorists are giving arms in their hands.
Condemning the ghastly killing of labourers in Panjgur he said “It is not the Baloch traditions to kill innocent workers, saying that if the battle is to kill the Barbers than terrorists would rather end the war.
 “They (terrorists) are coward enough to fight the valiant forces and taking lives of unarmed civilian to take their revenge.
Replying to a question, the CM said in fight against terrorism both military and civil forces and leadership laid down their lives. Many civilian and armed officers and official rendered unprecedented sacrifices to protect the mother land, Bugti said.
However he said the policies of the government would bring the tangible changes in near future.

ANF seizes 45 kg drugs in eight operations

RAWALPINDI, Sep 30 (APP):Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) while conducting eight operations across the country managed to recover 45 kg drugs worth Rs 4.2 million and arrested eight accused, said an ANF Headquarters spokesman here on Monday.
He informed that 450 grams hashish and 20 grams intoxicated tablets were recovered near a university located on Raiwind Road Lahore and an accused was arrested.
130 grams ice and 40 grams intoxicated tablets were recovered from an accused rounded up near a university located in Johar Town, Lahore.
120 grams hashish was recovered from the possession of an accused arrested near Kakpul Islamabad. The accused confessed to selling drugs to the students in educational institutions.
4.8 kg hashish and 1.2 kg opium were recovered from a vehicle held near M-1 Toll Plaza Islamabad and an accused was arrested during the operation.
400 grams hashish was found near the university in Hyderabad and an accused was arrested.
During another operation in Hyderabad, 350 grams hashish was recovered from a drug dealer near a hospital. The accused confessed to providing drugs in educational institutions.
1.3 kg hashish and 200 grams ice were recovered from the possession of an accused netted near Sector F-10 center, Islamabad.
All the arrested accused confessed to selling drugs to the students of different educational institutions.
Strict legal action was being taken against those who endanger the future of youth, the spokesman said adding, that suspicious persons are being closely monitored around educational institutions.
He further informed that 28.8 kg hashish and 7.2 kg opium were recovered from an accused in an operation conducted at M-1 Toll Plaza Islamabad.
Cases under the Anti-Narcotics Act have been registered against the arrested accused and further investigations are under process.

2 dacoits killed, 4 police officers injured in police encounter

ISLAMABAD, Sep 30 (APP):At least two dacoits were killed, and two others injured, in an alleged police encounter on Monday near Megah Road in Patoki city in the Kasur District of the Punjab.
During the exchange of fire, however, four police officers injured.
According to a private news channel, police said that the incident occurred when police team from the Phoolnagar City Police Station were returning from a recovery operation.
According to authorities, five associates of the detained dacoits ambushed the police van, opening fire. In the exchange of gunfire, one of the detained dacoits, Mushtaq alias Makhi, was killed on the spot, while two others, Ahmed Raza and Shakeel, were injured.
The attackers managed to free another detained dacoit and fled towards Kot Radha Kishan, seizing a government rifle.
The escaped dacoit, Allah Waris, was later killed during another police encounter near Mad Bridge in Kot Radha Kishan’s jurisdiction. However, his accomplices successfully fled the scene.
Police said that the dacoit gang had been involved in a high-profile robbery in Phoolnagar’s Sarafa Bazaar, where they looted gold, silver, and millions in cash.
During that incident, they also critically injured police officer Nadeem. The police are continuing efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects.

Aged man dies in Wadh firing

QUETTA, Sep 30 (APP):Unknown armed men shot dead an aged man in Wadh area of Khuzdar district on Monday.
According to Levies sources, the victim identified as 60-year-old Haji Noor Ahmed was on way to some where when armed assailants opened fire at him near Tak area of Wadh and fled from the scene.
As a result, he died on the spot after receiving bullet wounds.
The body of the deceased was handed over to the heirs after completion of medico legal formalities.
Levies force has registered a case.

US, UAE and UK top 3 destinations of Pakistani exports during July-August 2024

ISLAMABAD, Sep 30 (APP):The United States (US) remained the top export destination of Pakistani products during the first two months of the current financial year 2024-25, followed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and United Kingdom (UK).
Total exports to the US during July-August 2024-25 were recorded at US $949.855 million against the exports of US $934.666 million during July-August 2023-24, showing an increase of 1.62 percent, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
This was followed by the UAE, wherein Pakistan exported goods worth US $400.977 million against the exports of US $295.563 million last year, showing an increase of 35.66 percent.
UK was the third top export destination, where Pakistan exported products worth US $366.370 million during the month under review against the exports of US $351.186 million, SBP data revealed.
Among other countries, Pakistani exports to China stood at US $323.435 million against US $350.297 million last year, showing a decrease of 7.66 percent while the exports to Germany were recorded at US $287.169 million against US $253.155 million last year, data said.
During July-August 2024-25, the exports to Holland were recorded at $247.343 million against $226.624 million whereas the exports to Italy stood at $186.984 million against $195.539 million.
Pakistan’s exports to Spain were recorded at $231.945 million against the exports of US $242.201 million while the exports to Afghanistan were recorded at $146.655 million against $ 88.393 million last year.
The exports to Bangladesh stood at US $122.004 million against US $98.589 million.
Similarly, the exports to France during the months under review were recorded at US $82.680 million against US $91.043 million while the exports to Belgium stood at US $100.402 million against US $96.515 million.
Pakistan’s exports to Saudi Arabia were recorded at US $114.189 million during the current year compared to US $95.174 million last year whereas the exports to Turkiye stood at US $64.812 million against US $61.354 million.
