Pakistan’s ambassador meets Grand Mufti of Egypt

CAIRO, Jun 01 (APP):Pakistan’s ambassador in Egypt Aamir Shouket called on Grand Mufti of Egypt Dr. Nazir Mohammed Ayyad here on Sunday.

Matters related to ongoing cooperation between Pakistan and Egypt in religious education, Muslim unity, collaboration against hate speech and interfaith harmony were discussed during the meeting.

CM meets MPAs, reviews progress on welfare initiatives

LAHORE, Jun 01 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that her government’s top priority is to transform Punjab into a model province by serving its people with dignity.
The CM expressed these views during a meeting with MPAs Muhammad Ahmed Khan Leghari and Naeem Akhtar Khan Bhabha, here on Sunday.
They also discussed progress on ongoing welfare initiatives, development priorities, and the resolution of public issues in their constituencies.
CM Maryam Nawaz emphasised that the education and economic empowerment of youth remain her top priorities. “We aim to ensure that the benefits of development reach every segment of society,” she added.
The MPAs commended the Chief Minister’s transparent governance and rapid implementation of transformative welfare projects.
“In a short span of time, CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif has won the hearts of the people through her visionary and inclusive initiatives,” they remarked.
They praised flagship projects such as the Kisan Card, Minority Card, Ration Card, Himmat Card, and Education Card as pioneering efforts toward inclusive development.
The MPAs also acknowledged her special focus on youth empowerment through Honahar Scholarships, the laptop distribution initiative, and the e-bike scheme.
MPA Naeem Akhtar Khan Bhabha expressed gratitude for the launch of the Multan-Vehari Road construction and expansion project.
In response to his request, the Chief Minister directed authorities to start academic sessions at the Girls College in Vehari after the summer break and assigned Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat to oversee the process.
Similarly, on the request of MPA Muhammad Ahmed Khan Leghari, CM Maryam Nawaz instructed relevant departments to initiate a water supply scheme for Fort Monroe to address the local population’s needs.

Three bike lifters nabbed, six stolen motorcycles seized

ISLAMABAD, Jun 01 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT)Police’s Koral police team busted a notorious motorcycle-lifting gang by nabbing three wanted members and seizing six stolen motorcycles from their possession.
An official told APP on Sunday that the Koral police team apprehended the accused with the help of technical and human intelligence. The arrested individuals were identified as Hamid, Bilawal Rasheed, and Nadeem Ali, who were involved in numerous bike-lifting incidents.
He said that six stolen motorcycles were recovered from the possession of the accused. He said that cases were already registered against the suspects, while further investigation was underway.
DIG Operations Muhammad Jawad Tariq directed all officers to intensify the crackdown against criminal elements and take every possible measure to ensure the safety of citizens’ lives and property.

ICT Police nab five in Kirpa search operation

ISLAMABAD, Jun 01 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police on Sunday conducted a search and combing operation in the jurisdiction of Kirpa Police Station, screening 60 individuals and arresting five suspects during the action.
An official told APP that the operation was part of the ongoing crackdown to curb crime and apprehend criminal elements in the federal capital.
He said that Islamabad Police teams conducted a grand search operation in different areas of Kirpa during which 27 houses, shops, and hotels were thoroughly searched, while 60 individuals and 30 vehicles were checked.
He said two suspicious individuals were also shifted to the police station for verification.
He said five accused were arrested during the operation, and police recovered a stolen motorbike, a weapon, and ammunition from their possession.
He said that such operations are being carried out under the special direction of DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq to tighten the noose around anti-social elements and enhance security across the city.

ICT Police serve 76,000 citizens under modern, international-standard policing

ISLAMABAD, Jun 01 (APP):In line with international standards, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police has provided services to over 76,000 citizens so far this year through its modern police service centers, offering a wide range of facilities including character certificates, general police verification, lost item reports, and the registration of foreign nationals, tenants, and domestic workers.
An official told APP on Sunday that the Capital Police under the leadership of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi has taken concrete steps to facilitate citizens at every level.

Upon assuming office, the IG Rizvi directed all officers to ensure the provision of quality services and ease of access for the general public.
The ICT Police has since enhanced its citizen-centric approach, providing services such as character certificates, general police verification, registration of foreign nationals, tenants, and domestic workers, as well as lost item reports and vehicle verification.
He said that a total of 76,400 citizens availed themselves of services at various Khidmat Markaz located across the city, including sectors F-6, G-10, H-11, Bani Gala, Sawan Garden and G-14, in addition to several model police stations.
Among the services provided this year were the issuance of over 16,000 character certificates, 14,495 general police verification certificates and 6,557 clearance certificates.

He said that the centers also processed 3,906 lost item reports, 2,672 tenant and domestic worker registrations, 2,798 vehicle verifications, and conducted background checks for more than 29,000 foreign nationals.
In addition to fixed centers, the ICT Police has deployed mobile service vans to ensure these services reach citizens at their doorsteps.
IG Rizvi said that the police service centers are staffed with trained personnel committed to providing efficient and professional assistance to both Pakistani citizens and foreign residents.
IG Rizvi emphasized that the initiative is part of Islamabad Police’s commitment to deliver modern, transparent, and responsive policing in the federal capital.

Tajik Energy Minister expresses hope, CASA-1000 to be completed in December 2026

ISLAMABAD, Jun 01 (APP):First Deputy Minister for Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan, Jamshed Shoimzoda on Sunday said that the major energy project, CASA-1000 between Pakistan and Tajikistan will be completed by December 2026, which will start providing 1000 MW of electricity to Pakistan.
This grand project will take time to be operational by January 2027, after which bilateral cooperation in the energy sector between the two countries will be further promoted and there will be a new beginning of clean and green energy projects in both countries, First Deputy Minister for Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan, Jamshed Shoimzoda told APP in Dushanbe (Tajikistan).
Tajik energy Minister said that Tajikistan will completely switch to green energy and zero emission by 2027 and during this time, it will make great efforts to implement the green energy project with other countries in the region.

“The transmission capacity of the CASA-1000 energy project will be 1,300 megawatts, which will be an energy link between Tajikistan, Pakistan, and Afghanistan to provide clean energy not only to regional countries but also to prove the need of Pakistan’s industrial sector, “he said.
The Minister hoped that the CASA-1000 projects would be completed in due time and also to meet Pakistan’s energy needs and enhance bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.
He said, “Massive infrastructural projects will be beneficial for all of its stakeholders by fulfilling energy needs and strengthening regional connectivity.”
Shoimzoda said that Tajikistan has the capacity to export 10 billion KW of energy annually, which will benefit all countries in the region, including Pakistan.
He said that Tajikistan currently has the capacity to generate 500 billion KM of electricity, which is currently the highest among regional countries in hydel power.
The Minister said that Tajikistan owns two biggest dams, including the Nurek Dam and the Rogun Dam and both have a capacity of 6,600 MW electricity production.
The Nurek Dam is the second-highest dam in the world, with a height of 300 meters (984 feet) and production Capacity is 3000 MW.
The reservoir formed by the Nurek Dam is also the largest in Tajikistan, with a capacity of 10.5 cubic kilometers and this dam is currently under construction and will be the world’s highest when completed, surpassing the Nurek Dam in height.
He said that the Rogun Dam is under construction and will be the world’s highest dam, with a height of 335 meters (1,099 feet) and this earth-fill dam on the Vakhsh River has a production capacity of 3600 MG.
The Rogun Dam is expected to double Tajikistan’s energy production and is crucial for the country’s energy independence.
The Minister said that Tajikistan is already providing electricity to other regional countries including Afghanistan and in the future Tajikistan will create a regional energy hub, which will usher in a new era of sustainable energy production and economic prosperity in the region.
The Central Asia-South Asia Electricity Transmission and Trade Project (CASA-1000) is a $1.2 billion regional power project designed to bring the benefits of interconnectivity to four countries Tajikistan, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan.

ISLAMABAD, Jun 01 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police FM Radio 92.4 aired 71 public awareness programs, 390 traffic updates, and over 9,000 road safety messages during the current month.
A public relations officer told APP on Sunday that the ICT Police Radio aired 71 public awareness programs, 390 traffic updates, and more than 9,000 road safety awareness messages during the current month.
The radio service is also keeping citizens informed on a daily basis about weather alerts and emergency conditions through regular broadcasts.
He said FM 92.4 is not only providing up-to-date traffic information but also airing special messages related to weather and emergencies. Citizens of the federal capital can participate in live programs by calling 051-9263184 and share their valuable feedback with the police.
He said Islamabad Police regularly uses FM Radio 92.4 to issue traffic alerts, safety tips, and to broadcast recreational and informative programs. Special alerts are also shared using Safe City cameras to inform the public about emergency or weather-related developments.
He said citizens can also register complaints against any police official or share their queries by sending a message to 4471. In addition, they can participate in live streaming sessions through various social media platforms.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Captain (R) Syed Zeeshan Haider, said the Islamabad Police is committed to engaging with the public both practically and through audio-visual means. The police are taking every possible step to ensure the safety and security of citizens.
