FESCO launches training to boost safety and technical standards

FAISALABAD, Nov 17 (APP): Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) has launched a mandatory professional training program at its Regional Training Center aimed at enhancing the technical skills of Upper Technical Subordinates (UTS) staff. The program focuses on equipping employees with the latest safety practices essential for field operations.
Keynote lectures and training sessions were conducted by instructors Aamir Ali, Rana Inam, and Shehzad Sunny from the Pakistan Institute of Management. The training covered modern safety protocols, operational efficiency, and workplace professionalism, all critical aspects for employees working in the field.
Director of Operational Development at FESCO, Mahmood Ahmad, emphasized the importance of the training for staff deployed across operational divisions and grid stations. He explained that the performance of these employees directly impacts the uninterrupted power supply and the timely restoration of the system.
“This initiative will not only improve workplace safety and professional standards but also assist FESCO in meeting NEPRA targets and fulfilling the requirements of the National Electricity Plan and Performance Agreement,” said Mahmood Ahmad. He added that the training would strengthen employee capabilities, improve organizational management, and enhance the overall performance of the company.
The training session saw participation from a wide range of staff, including Senior Sub-Station Operators (SSOs), Line Superintendents, and Foremen. Notable attendees included SSO-I Abdul Rasheed, Ghulam Muhammad, Muhammad Aslam Bashir, Abdul Rehman, Muhammad Yaseen, Wali Muhammad, and many others. Line Superintendents such as Javed Rasheed, Ejaz Hussain Jafar, and Naeem Akhtar, among others, also participated, along with Foremen including Gulzar Ali, Muhammad Ahmad, and Waheed Iqbal.
This program underscores FESCO’s commitment to improving the technical proficiency and safety standards of its workforce, ultimately contributing to a more efficient and reliable electricity supply for the region.

GCWUS students visit schools for mental health tips

Measles-rubella vaccination drive launched

FAISALABAD, Nov 17 (APP): The Health Department has launched a measles-rubella vaccination drive in Faisalabad to protect children from these preventable diseases.
A spokesperson from the Health Department said on Monday that static vaccination teams have been deployed across various localities to immunize children between the ages of 6 months and 6 years.
The campaign, which is set to run until November 29, is utilizing various strategies to raise awareness and encourage parental cooperation. The goal is to ensure 100% participation and achieve the full target of the vaccination drive, the spokesperson added.

Workshop on SMEs formalization held

Inter-collegiate badminton tournament held

SARGODHA, Nov 17 (APP): An Inter-Collegiate Women’s Badminton Tournament, organized under the auspices of the Sargodha Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education (BISE), was held at Government Degree College Farooq Colony on Monday.
The opening ceremony was graced by Vice Principal of the college, Madam Mansoorah Safdar, Director Sports of BISE Sargodha Chaudhry Muhammad Anees Gujar, and Madam Sabahat Baloch.
In her address, Vice Principal Mansoorah Safdar emphasized that sports are crucial for not only enhancing students’ physical fitness but also for fostering discipline, teamwork, and self-confidence.
Director Sports Chaudhry Muhammad Anees Gujar highlighted that, under the directives of Board Chairman and Commissioner Sargodha Muhammad Jehanzeb Awan, as well as the Board Secretary, strict monitoring measures are in place to ensure the fair conduct of all tournaments. He further explained that the aim of such events is to promote sports within educational institutions and encourage youth to engage in healthy, positive activities.
Waqas Butt officiated the tournament, which saw enthusiastic participation from teams representing both public and private colleges from across Sargodha.
Superior College emerged victorious, securing first place, while Reader College took second position. Government Graduate College Chandni Chowk rounded out the top three, finishing in third place.

ATC freezes Aleema’s 37 bank accounts, issues arrest warrants of CDA chief, commissioner Islamabad

RAWALPINDI, Nov 17 (APP): During the hearing of the case related to the November protest registered at Sadiqabad Police Station in the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi, the court took stern action against the continuous absence of accused Aleema Khanum by reissuing non-bailable warrants against her for the second time. The court also summoned Aleema Khanum’s property records from the Punjab Board of Revenue.
According to the details, the report, which has been submitted in the court here on Monday, revealed that 338 kanals (42 acres approx) of land is registered in Aleema Khanum’s name across four districts. Additionally, directives were issued to freeze her 15 more bank accounts.
Three accused appeared in person and seven through their pleaders, while the prosecution witnesses and team were fully present in the court during the case hearing presided by ATC Judge Amjad Shah.
The court summoned details of Alima Khanum’s properties to take further action against her, so that if the absence continues, she can be declared a proclaimed offender and her properties can be confiscated.
According to the Board of Revenue report, the properties registered in Aleema Khanum’s name include 51 kanals and 16 marlas in Bhakkar, 1 kanal and 4 marlas in Lahore, and 1 kanal and 1 marla (Mauza Nurpur Kamboh, Tehsil Lahore Cantonment), 64 kanals and 14 marlas in Mauza Sultan, Tehsil Raiwind, 217 kanals and 5 marlas in Mianwali, and 4 kanals and 13 marlas in Sheikhupura.
The court issued directives to freeze 7 more accounts of her in Allied Bank Limited and 15 accounts of United Bank Limited under financial measures, making the total to 37 frozen accounts.
The absence of the reply by the CDA Chairman and the Commissioner Islamabad, even after a reminder issued first and then a contempt of court notice, was reported to the court. With no response from both sides’ representatives, the court issued non-bailable warrants against them and directed the IG Islamabad to execute them immediately.
Moreover, one surety related to vehicles appeared in the court, while non-bailable warrants have been reissued against the two other sureties who have not yet been arrested.
The court adjourned the hearing until November 20.

Over-40 T20 World Cup to be inaugurated on Nov 21, Governor briefed

KARACHI, Nov 17 (APP): Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori has praised the efforts to promote veterans’ cricket and sports in the country, stating that experienced players serve as a guiding light for the younger generation.
      He expressed these views during a meeting with Chairman of Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association at the Governor House Karachi.
    During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the contributions of veterans’ cricket, the promotion of sports in Pakistan, and encouraging positive activities through cricket. The Chairman also briefed the Governor on the preparations for the Over-40 T20 World Cup 2025.
    It was informed that the opening ceremony of the tournament will be held on 21 November in Karachi, where international veterans’ teams will participate. The ceremony will also feature an impressive fireworks display. A total of 12 countries will participate in the tournament, and 42 matches will be played.
     The Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori extended his best wishes for the successful organization of the tournament, adding that such global events play an important role in highlighting Pakistan’s positive image internationally.
