WASA to intensify recovery campaign against defaulters

MULTAN, Nov 19 (APP):Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA) Managing Director (MD) Chaudhary Danish on Wednesday directed circle incharges to accelerate action against defaulters and review recovery targets on a daily basis.
Presiding over a meeting of recovery officers, he instructed them to monitor monthly and quarterly recovery of sewerage and water bills and ensure that all illegal connections were added to the billing network.
Meanwhile, the MD visited disposal station sites of 11,000-meter main pipeline line project from Awan Square to Chungi no.9.
Director WASA Faisal Shaukat gave briefing on the project and ensure that it would be completed before the upcoming monsoon season.
He said that the installation of a 48-inch offline HDPE line had improved the performance of the disposal station. He added that modern German-made pumps had been installed at Chungi no.9,while work on the solar project at the inner bypass disposal station was progressing at full pace.
The project would significantly reduce electricity expenses, he concluded.

PCG foils smuggling bid in Gwadar, large quantity of narcotics seized

KARACHI, Nov 19 (APP):The Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) have seized a huge quantity of high-quality narcotics during intelligence-based anti-smuggling operations in the Gwadar region, including the areas of Hallery and Peshogan.
According to a statement issued by the PCG, Coast Guards teams recovered 1,400 kilograms of hashish, 105 kilograms of crystal meth (ice), 8 kilograms of heroin, and 6.5 kilograms of opium hidden in bushes in the Hallery area of Gwadar.
In a separate operation, the PCG recovered 476 kilograms of high-quality hashish during snap-checking along the coastal route at Pasoo Gap in Peshogan. Authorities believe the narcotics were intended to be smuggled abroad via sea routes.
The seized drugs are estimated to be worth approximately USD 134.43 million in the international market.
The Pakistan Coast Guards reaffirmed the commitment to combating narcotics trafficking and all forms of smuggling in order to help strengthen the national economy.

Rural crackdown on illegal fuel outlet carried out

HYDERABAD, Nov 19 (APP):In a significant enforcement drive, the Revenue Team of Taluka Hyderabad Rural, under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Taluka Hyderabad Rural, Gohar Masroor, and the directions of Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad, Zain-ul-Abedin Memon, conducted surprise inspections across various areas.
The team targeted Tando Hyder, Additional Husri, Tando Fazal, Tando Alam Marri, and Serri, focusing on identifying and sealing illegal petrol and diesel agencies. As a result, 11 illegal fuel outlets were sealed on the spot.
During the inspections, the team also visited licensed petrol and diesel stations to ensure compliance with OGRA-notified prices- Proper fuel dispensing measurements required safety and regulatory standards.
The crackdown aims to protect consumers from fuel adulteration and ensure a fair business environment.
The administration remains committed to enforcing law and order and safeguarding public interests.

Illegal road cutting halted in Resham bazar

HYDERABAD, Nov 19 (APP):In a swift operation, authorities acted on leaked information about illegal road cutting in Resham Bazar, Hyderabad.
On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad, Assistant Commissioner (AC) City and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) City led the operation.
The illegal construction activities were immediately halted, and the workers involved were taken into custody.
AC City, Babar Saleh Rahupoto, oversaw the operation, which demonstrates the administration’s commitment to maintaining law and order and preventing unauthorized activities.
The authorities have assured that strict action will be taken against those involved in such illegal activities.

ICT Police put six behind bars in court-premises clash

ISLAMABAD, Nov 19 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police took prompt action after a fight broke out in the court premises, arresting six individuals involved in the incident.
An official told APP on Wednesday that a case has been registered against the accused under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA).
He said that there is zero tolerance for such incidents inside or outside court premises, adding that strict legal action will be taken against all individuals involved in lawlessness.
The spokesperson reaffirmed that ICT Police will continue to ensure order and security within judicial areas and urged citizens to report any suspicious activity to Pukar-15 immediately.
