Security Forces killed 23 terrorists in two separate engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

RAWALPINDI, Nov 20 (APP):Security Forces killed twenty-three khwarij belonging to Indian Proxy Fitna Al Khwarij in two separate engagements in Kurram District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.
“On 19 November 2025, twenty-three khwarij belonging to Indian Proxy Fitna Al Khwarij were killed in two separate engagements in Kurram District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. On the reported presence of Khwarij, a targeted operation was conducted by the Security Forces.
During the conduct of the operation, own troops effectively engaged the khwarij location and after an intense fire exchange, twelve khwarij were sent to hell,” said an ISPR news release.
Capitalising on intelligence with respect to the presence of another group of khwarij, in the same general area, in another intelligence-based operation, the own troops successfully neutralised eleven more khwarij.
Sanitization operations are being conducted to eliminate any other Indian sponsored kharji found in the area, as a relentless Counter Terrorism campaign under vision “Azm e Istehkam” (as approved by Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan) by Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.

DPM Dar urges EU firms to exploit Pakistan’s immense investment potential

BRUSSELS, Nov 20 (APP): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar on Thursday highlighting Pakistan’s attractive investment prospects across key sectors like agriculture, textiles, housing, and information technology, urged leading European companies to seize these opportunities by making investments in the country.

The deputy prime minister, addressing a dinner reception he hosted in honor of Members of the European Parliament at Pakistan House during his visit here, said that Pakistan attached special importance to its multilateral and bilateral relations with the EU and considered it a vital pillar for peace, stability, reconstruction, and development.

DPM Dar is visiting Brussels to participate in the Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum and co-chair the seventh Pakistan-EU Strategic Dialogue with his counterpart Kaja Kallas.

The dinner was attended by key MEPs, including the Chair of the South Asia Relations Committee, Vice-Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee, coordinators of the International Trade Committee, Security and Defense Committee, and Foreign Affairs Committee, as well as key EU parliamentarians.

Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch, EU Ambassador to Pakistan Raimundas Karoblis, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to the EU, Belgium, and Luxembourg Rahim Hayat Qureshi were also present.

The deputy prime minister calling Pakistan-EU partnership a reflection of regional peace and stability, said that Pakistan desired to further strengthen this partnership in economic, political, commercial, and areas of mutual interest.

He told the gathering that as the world’s fifth-most populous country with over 60% youth population, Pakistan had emerged as a rising economy offering attractive opportunities for international investment.

Dar said that the GSP Plus mechanism between Pakistan and the EU had significantly increased the volume of bilateral trade and investment.

Aurangzeb vows to deepen cooperation on fiscal governance, revenue reforms

ISLAMABAD, Nov 20 (APP):Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, here on Thursday, expressed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding institutional cooperation and dialogue with friendly nations, particularly in the areas of fiscal governance and revenue reforms.
The minister was speaking to a 13-member delegation from the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) of Nigeria, led by Barrister Imo Effiong Akpan, Federal Commissioner.
Senior officials of the Finance and Revenue Division were also present during the meeting, according to a press release issued by the Finance Ministry.
Aurangzeb apprised the delegation of Pakistan’s macroeconomic progress and the government’s reform agenda under the leadership of the Prime Minister.
He underscored improvements in key macroeconomic indicators over the past 18 months, including increased stability in the external account, moderation in inflation, improved fiscal discipline, and enhanced market confidence, reaffirming the government’s commitment to maintaining the reform momentum through responsible economic management and sustained engagement with international financial institutions.
He also highlighted the major structural reforms underway, including the broadening of the tax base, enhanced digitization, real-time risk-based compliance, and improved documentation as part of Pakistan’s taxation reforms. He outlined progress in the energy sector aimed at addressing circular debt, improving governance, implementing cost-reflective tariffs, and moving towards market-based operations.
The minister further referred to reforms in state-owned enterprises, including the transition to a holding company structure and accelerated privatization, with 24 state-run enterprises already transferred to the Privatization Commission.
He added that pension reforms and rightsizing measures are being advanced to strengthen long-term fiscal sustainability through the modernization of pension frameworks and the rationalization of government expenditure.
Aurangzeb informed the delegation of the comprehensive transformation underway within the Federal Board of Revenue, being directly supervised by the Prime Minister, which includes end-to-end digitization of tax processes, strengthened customs automation, enhanced transparency and compliance enforcement, and preparatory work for transitioning toward the Pakistan Revenue Authority model.
Responding to questions from the delegation, Senator Aurangzeb highlighted Pakistan’s shift toward private-sector-led growth, noting that several sectors, particularly banking, have already witnessed strong private participation. He emphasized the government’s commitment to creating an enabling regulatory environment while reducing unnecessary state interventions, especially in agriculture and industrial markets.
He also explained Pakistan’s bi-monthly federal revenue distribution process, which is guided by constitutional frameworks and executed by the Ministry of Finance, and he outlined the structured mechanisms through which remuneration for public officeholders is determined, involving autonomous bodies, parliamentary forums, and Cabinet approval.
He further reaffirmed Pakistan’s longstanding partnerships with friendly countries and emphasized the government’s focus on advancing B2B cooperation in key sectors, including mining, renewable energy, and industrial development. He assured the delegation of Pakistan’s readiness to continue supporting knowledge exchange and institutional collaboration with Nigerian counterparts.
Earlier, Barrister Akpan conveyed appreciation for the hospitality extended by the government of Pakistan and reaffirmed Nigeria’s intention to incorporate the insights gained during the visit into its national policy review.
Barrister Imo Effiong Akpan briefed the minister on the mandate of the RMAFC, a constitutionally established body responsible for formulating revenue allocation frameworks, advising on public sector remuneration, and strengthening fiscal coordination within Nigeria’s federal structure.
He explained that the delegation is undertaking a study tour as part of Nigeria’s ongoing review of its national revenue distribution formula, and that their engagements in Pakistan, including interactions with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and other government institutions, are aimed at learning from Pakistan’s experience in tax administration, customs modernization, resource management, and federal revenue sharing mechanisms.

Human trafficker held

LAHORE, Nov 20 (APP):The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Lahore Zone has continued its crackdown on proclaimed offenders, arresting a suspect involved in human trafficking.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the arrested accused, identified as Muhammad Yaseen, was apprehended during a raid in Pattoki.
The accused had been wanted by FIA Lahore since 2023 and was facing multiple criminal cases. The spokesperson said Yaseen had defrauded citizens by luring them with promises of employment in Dubai and collected large sums of money. He later failed to send them abroad and went into hiding.
Further investigation was underway.

Attempt to travel on fake documents foiled

LAHORE, Nov 20 (APP):The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration Wing foiled an attempt by a passenger to travel abroad using forged documents and off-loaded him at Allama Iqbal International Airport, on Thursday.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the immigration staff intercepted a passenger, Waheed Ashraf, who was attempting to travel to Kyrgyzstan on flight KA582. The passenger, resident of Sahiwal, was found carrying a passport bearing a fake protector sticker of the Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment.
The spokesperson said the State Life Insurance receipt submitted by the passenger for protector processing also turned out to be fake. During preliminary inquiry, the accused revealed that he had obtained the fake protector from an agent named Naseer in exchange for Rs 80,000.
The passenger has been handed over to the FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Lahore for further legal action, added spokesperson.

Non-tax paid cigarettes seized

SARGODHGA, Nov 20 (APP):The Inland Revenue Enforcement Network (IREN) of the Regional Tax Office (RTO) Sargodha has carried out the largest raid in its history, resulting in the biggest-ever seizure of non–tax stamped cigarettes since the unit’s establishment.
According to an FBR source who spoke to the Associated Press of Pakistan on Thursday, the operation was conducted under the supervision of Chief Commissioner Mr. Faridullah Jan Khan and executed by Additional Commissioner (In-charge IREN) Mr. Ali Saleh Hayat Kalyar. The inter-agency coordinated action lasted more than 18 hours and culminated in the interception of six trucks near the Bhera Interchange (M-2), transporting 1,315 cartons of non-stamped Melburn, Chase, and Café brand cigarettes.
The seized stock is valued at over Rs. 115 million, inclusive of all applicable taxes. All confiscated goods, along with the vehicles, have been transferred to RTO Sargodha for further legal proceeding.

President, PM laud security forces for killing 23 terrorists in Kurram

ISLAMABAD, Nov 20 (APP): President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday appreciated the security forces for their successful operations against Indian-backed Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists in Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in which 23 terrorists were killed.

In separate statements, both leaders commended the professionalism and capabilities of the officers and soldiers participating in the ongoing anti-terror operations.

President Zardari noted that the Pakistan Army and law-enforcement agencies were defending the country with full commitment. He said that the elimination of terrorism, backed by foreign elements, from Pakistan’s soil was being ensured through complete national consensus. “The nation will always remember the sacrifices of the martyrs and war veterans (Ghazis),” he added.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that the entire nation stood firmly with the armed forces in the fight against terrorism. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completely eradicating all forms of terrorism from the country.

Gas cylinder explodes during refilling, shopkeeper held

MULTAN, Nov 20 (APP):Police arrested a shopkeeper after an LPG cylinder exploded during illegal refilling at Adda Pull 132 in Thatta Sadiqabad here on Thursday.
According to details, Nasir Hameed, resident of Lar Multan was refilling a cylinder when it suddenly exploded. No loss of life was reported.
Police reached the site soon after receiving the information and took the shop owner into custody.
A case was registered against him.

PM felicitates Pakistan javelin team for winning gold, silver medals in Islamic Solidarity Games

ISLAMABAD, Nov 20 (APP): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday congratulated the Pakistan javelin team for their outstanding performance in the Islamic Solidarity Games held in Riyadh.

The prime minister, in a statement, appreciated Pakistan javelin throwers Arshad Nadeem and Muhammad Yasir for securing the gold and silver medals, respectively.

He said that Pakistani javelin throwers were bringing pride to the nation and the country worldwide, as both Arshad Nadeem and Muhammad Yasir had achieved success in the Games through exceptional hard work and skill.

“The hard work of the athletes and their coaches has brought fame to the country. It is heartening to see that athletes are displaying excellent performance across different formats,” the prime minister remarked.

He said that the government was taking priority steps to provide the best sports opportunities to the country’s youth.
