Tree plantation campaign launched in Lachi

KOHAT, Feb 13 (APP):The tree Plantation Campaign 2025 was officially launched at Government Primary School, Lachi on Thursday.
The campaign was inaugurated by planting a sapling in the school, which symbolized the commitment to a green and clean environment, the official source said.
This tree plantation campaign was launched under the EHS-GIZ project of SRSP, he said, adding the main objective of the drive was to promote environmental protection and increase the number of trees in the area.
On this occasion, TMA Lachi staff, school teachers, PTC members and SRSP representatives were present.

Police arrest seven kite sellers with 1100 kites, string rolls

RAWALPINDI, Feb 13 (APP):Rawalpindi district police while conducting raids in different areas managed to arrest seven kite sellers and recovered 1100 kites and kite flying string rolls.
According to a police spokesman, City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani had directed the police officers to launch operations against kite flyers and kite suppliers.
He informed in a joint operation conducted by CIA and Bani Police, an accused Nabil allegedly involved in supplying kites to the flyers was arrested with over 700 kites and string rolls.
The accused had created a Facebook page, ‘Balli Kites’ through which he used to sell kites and kite flying string rolls. The accused is also a record holder in a kite flying case.
The spokesman said that the accused involved in illegal activities like kite flying, kite selling and aerial firing would be dealt with iron hands.
In other raids, police arrested six accused and recovered over 400 kites with 35 string rolls.
Saddar Baroni Police recovered 70 kites and 20 strings from an accused Ali Rehman while 50 kites and 15 string rolls were recovered from the possession of a kite seller Saddam.
Race Course and Sadiqabad Police arrested Abdul Quddus, Umair, Sajid and Musa on recovery of 315 kites.
He said, kite flying has been declared a non-bailable offence and the accused will be punished with imprisonment of 3 to 7 years. The citizens should fulfill their social and legal responsibility and play a role in preventing kite flying and aerial firing, he added.

PFA discards 40-kg unhygienic sohan halwa, items

MULTAN, Feb 13 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) continued its crackdown on businesses selling substandard and hazardous food items.
In a recent operation, food safety teams inspected two sweets and bakery units and a restaurant in various areas of Multan, leading to impose fines and destroyed unsafe food products.
During inspections at 11 Number Chungi, Al-Falah Town, Muzaffargarh Road, and MD Chowk, authorities discovered serious violations. Two bakeries were fined a total of Rs 75,000 for using unidentified
ingredients in their products and failing to label their food items properly.
Meanwhile, a restaurant was penalized Rs 40,000 for using rancid oil in food preparation.
The officials also seized and destroyed 40-kg substandard Sohan Halwa and 10-kg expired food items on the spot.
Speaking on the matter, PFA Director General Muhammad Asim Javed emphasized the authority’s commitment to ensuring availability of safe and high-quality food for the residents of Multan.
He reiterated that all food businesses must comply with the Punjab Food Authority regulations, warning that strict action will be taken against violators.

Four held for possessing illegal weapons

SARGODHA, Feb 13 (APP):Shahpur city police conducted raids in different areas of the town and arrested four people for possessing illegal weapons and displaying them in certain cases.
According to a police spokesman, those arrested were identified as Imran, Abdullah, Saleem, and Waleed. The police recovered three 30-bore pistols, four guns, bullets and a dagger from them.

Gold prices up by Rs.2,500 per tola to Rs.304,000

ISLAMABAD, Feb 13 (APP):The price of 24 karat per tola gold increased by Rs.2,500 and was sold at Rs 304,000 on Thursday against its sale at Rs 301,500 on previous trading day, All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewelers Association reported.
The price of 10 grams of 24 karat gold also increased by Rs 2,144 to Rs 260,631 from Rs 258,487 whereas that of 10 gram 22 karat went up by Rs.1,965 to Rs 238,920 from Rs 236,955.
The prices of per tola silver increased by Rs.55 to Rs,3,367 and that of ten gram went up by Rs.47 to Rs.2,886.
The price of gold in the international market increased by $25 to $2,913 from $2,888 whereas tte prices of silver in international market increased by $0.55 to $32.25, the Association reported.

One dead and five injured in two different road accidents

ABBOTTABAD, Feb 13 (APP):A young motorcyclist died and five others on Thursday were injured in two separate road accidents in Haripur and Abbottabad.
In Haripur, a car lost control near Hattar Industrial Estate and crashed into a roadside block. As a result, 43-year-old Iftikhar, 34-year-old Ms. (A), and three children sustained injuries. The medical team of Rescue 1122 Haripur provided first aid before transferring them to the Trauma Center. The victims were traveling from Abbottabad to their home in Rawalpindi when the accident occurred.
Meanwhile, in Abbottabad, a tragic motorcycle accident at Lady Garden claimed the life of 22-year-old Sohail Ahmed, son of Ayaz, a resident of Sherwan Khattala. The rescue team promptly reached the scene and shifted the deceased’s body to DHQ Hospital.

CTD discards explosive material

Sacrifices of Bakshi’ family were almost comprising lives’ sacrifices for Kashmir freedom moment to get motherland freed from Indian yoke, said a report received from across the Line of Control (LoC).
 “Shakeel was in Jail custody for life. Unidentified Gunman firing on Shakeel Bakshi in the year 2019 . Shakeel Bakshi is presently supremo of Islamic students league in IIOJK. Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi is vice chairman Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front He has also sacrificed half life in Jail custody and faced Hundred cases in Jammu Kashmir courts”, the report added.

Pakistan names sector F-8 & F-9 Interchange after Tayyip Erdogan

ISLAMABAD, Feb 13 (APP): Pakistan on Thursday officially named the sector F-8 and F-9 Interchange after President of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

In this regard, President Erdogan and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif unveiled the plaque of the Interchange name plate in a ceremony held at the PM House.

The Interchange has recently been constructed in record time at the intersection of Jinnah Avenue and Agha Shahi Road.

KARACHI, Feb 13 (APP):Shipping activity was report at the port where three ships, Dumbledore, Falcon Royal and Doha carrying Palm oil, Mogas and LNG, berthed at Liquid Cargo Terminal, FOTCO oil Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on during last 24 hours.
Meanwhile four more ships, Breman Express, SIBI, Kosei and Khairpur scheduled to load/offload Container, Rice, Bitumen and Mogas also arrived at outer anchorage on during last 24 hours.
A total of seven ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them two ships, Kyra Zafira and Kouros Queen are expected to sail on Thursday afternoon.
Cargo volume of 129,777 tonnes, comprising 119,312 tonnes imports cargo and 10,465 tonnes export cargo was handled at the port during last 24 hours.
There are Eleven ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them three ships, DSM London, Kathrine Kosan and Bremen Express & another ship ‘Maersk Capetown’ scheduled to load/offload Rice, Chemicals and Container are expected to take berths at FAP, EVTL and QICT are respectively on Thursday, while another containers ship ‘X-Press Mekong’ due to arrive at outer anchorage on Friday.

AJK PM visits  Mirpur-Islamgarh bridges’ construction site, orders timely completion of project

MIRPUR (AJK), Feb 13 (APP):Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister, Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq has conducted a detailed inspection visit to AJK’s longest over Rs 9.00 billion under construction Mirpur-Islamgarh bridges being built on Mangla dam reservoir in the district under the Mangla Dam Raising Project.
 Project Director, Rathua Haryam Bridge, Muhammad Habib Mughal, on the occasion, briefed the PM of the on the progress of the construction work .
 Prime Minister, Haq directed the authorities concerned to accomplish the project within the stipulated timeframe.
 He said that delay in completion of the project would not be tolerated.
The PM said that timely provision of funds would be ensured on priority.
  While addressing people present at the occasion, the PM expressed his satisfaction over the pace and quality of work on the project .
 The prime minister also praised FWO for its significant contribution in infrastructure development works including construction of roads, bridges, and highways all across the country.
He also thanked the DG, FWO, for his keen interest in this project that had been pending for the past several years.
 He said that people of the area had suffered a lot due to non-completion of the project.
 Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq said that work on the project was going on under the supervision of Minister for Public Works, Chaudhry Azhar Sadiq, adding “The progress of the bridge is also being monitored by the Cabinet members and other relevant authorities “.
 He also praised the construction company for introducing a new trend by putting all information regarding the progress of the project online.

Transgender shot dead in Charsadda

PESHAWAR, Feb 13 (APP):A transgender was shot dead by unknown assailants in Charsadda district, police informed on Thursday.
Police said unidentified assailants opened fire in the jurisdiction of City Police Station in Tehsil Bazaar, Charsadda, killing a transgender.
The transgender, identified as Gorgora, who was inside his room died instantly.
Following the incident, the police took the body into custody and transferred it to DHQ Hospital for post-mortem examination.
City Police have registered a case against an unknown accused and started an investigation.

Mohsin Naqvi Inaugurates 24/7 passport office in Nazimabad Karachi

ISLAMABAD, Feb 13 (APP):Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has inaugurated a new passport office at the NADRA Mega Center in Nazimabad, Karachi for convenience of the citizens.
This office will operate 24/7, with three shifts, allowing citizens to apply for passports at any time.
During the inauguration ceremony, Interior Minister inspected the passport counters and met with the staff.
He also interacted with citizens visiting the NADRA Mega Center for passport and ID card services and inquired about their experiences.
The citizens expressed satisfaction with the facilities provided and thanked the minister.
The citizens praised the initiative, saying it’s a great initiative that will make things much easier for the public.
On the occasion, Mohsin Naqvi also addressed the issues faced by women visiting the center for biometric verification under the Benazir Income Support Program.
He issued on-the-spot instructions to the relevant authorities to resolve their problems immediately. The women appreciated the Minister’s prompt action. Interior Minister emphasized that it’s government’s responsibility to resolve the issues being faced by the masses.
A detailed briefing was also given to Interior Minister regarding the working of the passport office at the NADRA center.
DG Passport Mustafa Jamal Qazi and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.

Plan to shift district jail outside city discussed

MULTAN, Feb 13 (APP):The divisional administration has initiated practical step to shift the district Jail outside the city.
Commissioner Aamir Kareem Khan directed the district authorities to identify land for construction a new jail with modern security and residential facilities.
A high-level meeting, chaired by Commissioner was held here on Thursday to discuss the shifting.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Bukhari, along with officials from the District Jail and police department attended the meeting.
Commissioner Kareem Khan said that a PC-1 for over 50 acres of land would be approved for the construction of the new jail. Meanwhile, various proposals were under consideration for the current jail site including developing a beautiful park, a central library, and a food point.
Additional barracks, residential colony and security facilities would be provided in the new jail.
