KP Governor visits CMH Quetta, condemns Khuzdar attack, pledges unity against terrorism

QUETTA, May 26 (APP):Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Monday visited Quetta for one-day to express solidarity with the victims of the tragic Khuzdar Army Public School (APS) attack.
Accompanied by Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, Governor Kundi visited CMH to inquire after the injured students of the incident.
During the visit, Chief Minister Bugti announced compensation of Rs. 1 million each for the families of the martyrs and Rs. 500,000 each for the injured.
Speaking to the media, Governor Kundi and CM Bugti strongly condemned the heinous attack, blaming Indian-backed terrorists for targeting innocent children in a cowardly act.
“The terrorists supported by the mischief of India have once again shown their cowardice by targeting our innocent children,” they said.
Governor Kundi lauded the patriotism and peaceful nature of the people of Balochistan, emphasizing that the entire nation stands united in grief and resolve.
 “We are indebted to the sacred blood of our innocent martyrs and we are proud of their ultimate sacrifice,” he said.
Chief Minister Bugti reaffirmed that the evil designs of a handful of terrorists will be crushed.
Both leaders vowed justice for the victims. “We will ensure that every drop of our children’s blood is accounted for,” they declared.
Governor Kundi also extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyrs and stressed that Pakistan continues to face threats from both internal and external terrorism.
He praised the role of the armed forces, saying, “Our brave military has given a fitting response to external aggression and will deal with internal saboteurs with the same resolve and strength.”

He said that he had come to Quetta on behalf of his province to offer condolences and express unity.
Recalling similar painful events in KP, including the devastating APS Peshawar attack, he said both provinces have suffered greatly due to the actions of Indian-backed terrorist elements.
“Our province has witnessed the sacrifices of children, soldiers, police personnel, and civilians,” he said, adding that Pakistan’s armed forces will soon rid the country of these extremist elements.
He emphasized that the survival of the nation lies in unity, tolerance, and harmony under the green crescent flag.
Prayers wers also offered at the occasion for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks and the speedy recovery of the injured from the Khuzdar APS attack.

QUETTA, May 26 (APP):Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi on Monday arrived in Quetta and, along with Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, visited CMH Quetta to inquire about the health of children injured in the tragic Khuzdar attack.
Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti announced financial assistance of Rs. 1 million for the families of each martyr and Rs. 500,000 for the injured victims, a handout issued by CM’s Secretariat said. He strongly condemned the attack, adding that the targeting of innocent children by “terrorists of Fitna al-Hindustan” reflected the cowardice of the perpetrators.
“The people of Balochistan are peace-loving and patriotic,” said CM Bugti. “We are indebted to the sacred blood of our innocent martyrs and take immense pride in their sacrifices. The evil intentions of a handful of terrorists will be crushed, and each drop of our children’s blood will be avenged.”
Governor Kundi expressed solidarity with the families of the martyrs and echoed similar sentiments. “Our country is facing threats from both internal and external terrorism,” he said. “Just as our armed forces have given a befitting response to foreign aggression, our brave military will ensure these internal saboteurs meet their ultimate fate.” Both leaders vowed to stand united against terrorism and pledged continued efforts to restore peace and security across the country.

NUML media students organize tree plantation drive to boost green efforts

ISLAMABAD, May 26 (APP):Students from the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) took action to promote environmental sustainability by organizing a tree plantation drive near the campus on Monday.
The initiative, led by sixth-semester students from the Department of Media and Communication Studies, aimed to enhance biodiversity and combat climate change.
Under the supervision of Dr. Ayesha Siddique, Head of the Department, the group planted fruit and shade trees, including mango, guava, neem, and sheesham saplings.
“Trees are vital for clean air, reducing urban heat, and maintaining ecological balance. By planting them today, we are securing a better tomorrow,” said Sawaira Safeer, the group leader from the New Media program.
Dr. Siddique praised the students’ efforts, stating, “It is heartening to see young individuals take responsibility for environmental protection. Such activities align with NUML’s vision of fostering socially responsible citizens.”
“Small actions today can lead to big changes tomorrow,” said participant Fahad, while Qasim added, “We wanted to do our part in making the federal capital greener for future generations.”
The drive attracted local attention, with passersby commending the students’ dedication.
Participants pledged to monitor the saplings’ growth and organize follow-up care.
The campaign highlighted the importance of youth-led environmental initiatives and encouraged sustainable practices in the community.

KP Govt to build underpasses at Lahori,  Ramdas to reduce traffic woes

PESHAWAR, May 26 (APP):The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to construct underpasses at Lahori and Ramdas intersections here to address the city’s growing traffic problems.
According to the Planning and Development Department, the construction of these underpasses has been included in the upcoming fiscal year’s development projects and will be initiated on a priority basis.
The decision comes amid increasing traffic congestion in the inner city, particularly at these two critical junctions where thousands of vehicles pass daily.
Long traffic jams have become a routine issue due to intersecting routes from multiple directions, causing severe inconvenience to commuters and delays in emergency response times.
The authorities noted that the feasibility studies, designs, and technical planning are being finalized, and construction work is expected to begin soon.
These projects aimed to improve traffic flow, save time and fuel for residents, and enhance overall urban mobility.
Additionally, the government plans to build more underpasses at other key locations in the city, including two on University Road, as part of a broader strategy to resolve traffic issues across Peshawar.
Lahori and Ramdas chowks have been prioritized in the first phase to provide immediate relief to the public.

Polio immunization campaign begins to vaccinate over 1.0 Mln children

RAWALPINDI, May 26 (APP):The 3rd immunization campaign to administer polio drops to 1,057,756 children in the district kicked off Monday the five-day door-to-door drive aims to vaccinate  children across 212 union councils of Rawalpindi.
The campaign will run until June 01, with two additional days designated as catch-up days to ensure maximum coverage. Health workers have been mobilized to reach every household and protect children from preventable diseases.
Dr. Asif Arbab, CEO of the District Health Authority, emphasized the dedication of the health teams in meeting the campaign’s goals.
“Our health workers are fully committed to ensuring no child is left unvaccinated”, he said while talking to APP on Monday.
Dr. Arbab also urged parents to cooperate with vaccination teams, stressing that timely immunization is essential for safeguarding children’s health and eradicating diseases like polio.
“The district administration has assured full support to the health department, ensuring smooth operations during the campaign”, he added.
The CEO further expressed hope about achieving 100% coverage during the campaign.

ISTANBUL, May 26 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday departed to Iran after concluding his two-day official visit to Turkiye.

The prime minister will arrive in Tehran where he would meet the Iranian leadership.

Six injured in head-on collision between mini-trucks

FAISALABAD, May 26 (APP):A collision between two mini-trucks near Sadhar vegetable market on Monday, left six persons including a motorbike rider injured.
According to Rescue-1122, two Mazda trucks collided with each other from opposite directions near Al-Fateh cold store, Sadhar vegetable market on Jhang road. As a result, five people were injured. A motorbike rider passing near the vehicles also fell on the road and suffered injuries.
All the injured were rushed to Allied Hospital.
They included Usman, Tayyab, Murtaza, Dilawar, Yousaf and Zeeshan.

PR Minister decides to run five special trains on Eid-ul-Azha

LAHORE, May 26 (APP):Pakistan Railways (PR) Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi decided to run five Eid special trains from provincial capital and other cities to manage additional rush of passengers during Eid-ul-Azha.
According to a press release issued here on Monday, the Railways Minister had made this decision as per the direction of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
First special train would depart from Karachi Cantt railway station on June 2 at 1:00 pm and reach Lahore next day at 10:00 am. Second special train would depart from Quetta on June 3 at 10:00 am and would reach Peshawar Cantt next day at 10:30 pm. Third special train would depart from Lahore on June 3 at 5:00 pm and arrive at Karachi Cantt station next day at 2:00 pm. Fourth special train would depart from Karachi Cantt on June 3 at 7:30 pm which would reach Rawalpindi on third day at 1:15 am and Fifth special train would depart from Karachi Cantt on June 4 and arrive at Lahore station next day at 5:30 pm.

FIA held human trafficker

FAISALABAD, May 26 (APP):Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Faisalabad circle arrested a human trafficker wanted in visa fraud case.
According to official sources here on Monday, the accused,identified as Umar Irfan, was held from district Sahiwala area and was declared proclaimed offender in the year 2018.
The accused had extorted an amount of Rs 1.1 million from innocent citizens against sending them abroad.
The FIA team locked the accused behind the bars and started an investigation.

Five days anti polio campaign begins in KP

PESHAWAR, May 26 (APP):A five-day anti-polio campaign was launched in all districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar.
 According to the KP health department spokesperson, during this five-day campaign, nearly 7.3 million children under the age of five across the province will be administered polio drops.
Polio is a dangerous disease that can leave children permanently disabled, causing lifelong difficulties for both the affected children and their families.
Moreover, the presence of the virus in the area continues to pose a constant threat to other children. Therefore, it is extremely important to vaccinate all children against polio during the campaign, which is the primary goal of the initiative.
The Emergency Operations Center Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has finalized all arrangements for the campaign. A total of 35,465 trained polio workers have been organized into teams, including 32,155 mobile teams, 1,918 fixed teams, 1,225 transit teams, and 167 roaming teams.
In addition, 8,351 area in-charges have been appointed for effective supervision of these teams. Security arrangements have also been made across the province to support the polio teams during the campaign.
