ICT admin bans protests amid section 144 enforcement

ISLAMABAD, May 30 (APP):The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration have warned citizens against participating in any protests, reminding them that public gatherings are currently banned in the capital under Section 144.
According to the spokesman of ICT administration here, the Islamabad district administration has issued a clear message ahead of a possible protest scheduled for today. The spokesman confirmed that Section 144 remains in force across the federal capital, making all forms of public demonstrations illegal.
According to the spokesman, any attempt to hold a protest or rally in the city would be considered a violation of the law. The official added that such gatherings would also breach the Assembly Act, and legal action will be taken against those involved.
The administration also referred to a protest held yesterday, during which several participants were taken into custody. Cases were registered against those who were seen breaking the law, the spokesman said.
Officials have warned that any repeat of such actions will lead to strict legal consequences. The administration urged the public not to engage in any illegal activity or join any protest that defies the current restrictions.
Residents of Islamabad have been advised to follow the law and stay away from gatherings that could disturb public order. Authorities say the restrictions are in place to maintain peace and prevent any disruptions in the capital.

Ashfaq Ahmad Khalil appointed Additional Secretary Information

ISLAMABAD, May 30 (APP):The federal government has appointed Ashfaq Ahmad Khalil as the Additional Secretary Information and Broadcasting Division with immediate effect until further orders.
According to a notification issued here, Khalil  is a Grade 21 officer of the Information Group and was serving as Joint Secretary in the Information and Broadcasting Division on deputation basis.

SAPM Haroon meets RWCCI delegation

ISLAMABAD, May 30 (APP):Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan on Friday held a meeting with the Rawalpindi Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The discussions focused on securing a dedicated chamber space, establishing an expo hub for women entrepreneurs, women empowerment, and skill development initiatives, said a news release.
The SAPM emphasized that Pakistan’s economy cannot take flight without the empowerment of women. He reiterated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s policies consistently prioritize women’s empowerment.
The ministry of industries is committed to supporting the upgrading of skills and providing new skill development opportunities for women entrepreneurs.
He highlighted that specialized organizations such as the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA), Technology Upgradation and Skill Development Company (TUSDEC), and the Pakistan Industrial Technical Assistance Centre (PITAC) play a crucial role in advancing women’s skills.
During the meeting, the Women’s Chamber announced a plan to establish a women’s center in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The SAPM assured full support from his ministry for this initiative.
He also instructed SMEDA, TUSDEC, and PITAC to actively collaborate with the WCCI to enhance skill development programs and emphasized regular progress reports on skill development efforts should be shared with me.

Pervaiz Malik visits Pak Arab Refinery Headquarters

ISLAMABAD, May 30 (APP):Federal Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik Friday visited the Corporate Headquarters of Pak-Arab Refinery Limited (PARCO).
He was received by Irteza Ali Qureshi, Managing Director, PARCO, along with the Company’s senior leadership team.
The minister was accompanied by the Additional Secretary (Policy), Petroleum Division Zafar Abbas, Deputy Secretary Waqas Barlas, said a news release.
During the visit, the Minister was given a comprehensive briefing on PARCO’s modular  growth strategy, its fifty-year legacy of operational excellence, and its future strategic roadmap.
The briefing highlighted PARCO’s vital role in strengthening Pakistan’s energy infrastructure through innovation, efficiency, and sustainability.
Ali Pervaiz Malik acknowledged the significance of PARCO’s contribution to Pakistan’s energy landscape. He highlighted Government’s priority for refinery Upgradation.
This will not only improve efficiency in the energy supply chain but also facilitate the transition towards clean energy. Pakistan is committed to uphold the standards of environmental protection and cleaner energy resources.
His visit underscored the government’s support for institutions like PARCO that are playing a pivotal role in meeting the country’s growing energy demand.

Haroon Akhtar holds Zoom meeting with CEO Transsion Tecno on mobile phone policy

ISLAMABAD, May 30 (APP):Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan on Friday held a Zoom meeting with Amir Allahwala, CEO of Transsion Techno, along with representatives from the Engineering Development Board (EDB) to discuss the mobile phone device policy.
The meeting focused on key issues including the mobile phone device policy, challenges related to tariff duties, mobile phone exports, as well as the market for used mobile phones. The discussion also covered technological innovation within the industry, said a news release.
Haroon highlighted that 38 mobile phone companies in Pakistan have created 40,000 jobs, underscoring the significant potential of the mobile phone industry to export products globally.
He emphasized that under the directives of the Prime Minister, the government’s priority is to promote the industrial sector. Incentivizing the local industry and increasing exports remain top priorities.
The SAPM further said that if the industry embraces technology upgradation, Pakistan can become competitive in the regional market.
Attracting investment and boosting exports will be a monumental achievement for the country.
He assured that the government and the Ministry of Industries and Production are actively advocating for the industrial sector’s interests in the Tariff Policy Board.

PSB for supporting promising high jumper Shehroz Khan

ISLAMABAD, May 30 (APP):The Director General of Pakistan Sports Board, Yasir Pirzada, met with emerging national high jump athlete Shehroz Khan.
The DG appreciated Khan’s talent and assured him of full training facilities and all possible support. He stated that Shehroz Khan has the potential to win an international medal for Pakistan in high jump, said a press release.
It is worth mentioning that Shehroz Khan set a record by clearing 2.14 meters in the high jump event at the Islamic Solidarity Games. He is expected to deliver an even stronger performance in upcoming competitions this year.
