BYD Zhengzhou Factory’s cumulative output exceeds one million vehicles

ZHENGZHOU, Dec 14 (APP): Located in the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone (ZAEZ) of Henan Province, the BYD Zhengzhou Factory spans nearly 1,000 hectares and stands as BYD’s largest facility both in scale and planned production capacity—a true “super factory” for the company.
Since beginning operations in 2023, the plant has produced over one million vehicles, generating an output value exceeding 170 billion yuan. It contributes more than 80 percent of Henan’s new energy vehicle production and has helped propel the province’s annual NEV output beyond 700,000 units, placing it among the top ten in China.
This was shared by a BYD Zhengzhou Factory official during a visit by a delegation of foreign journalists from Pakistan, South Korea, Ireland, Türkiye, and other countries, who were touring projects within the ZAEZ.
The delegation observed the remarkable “Henan speed” in action: the project broke ground in just 37 days and started production within 17 months. Today, it operates with exceptional efficiency, assembling a finished vehicle every 50 seconds and producing a battery cell every 3 seconds.
The group also visited the BYD Zhengzhou Race Track at ZAEZ—one of the world’s first all-terrain tracks designed specifically for new energy vehicles, following a similar facility in Hefei. The complex features multiple testing scenarios, including off-road sections, a race track, water wading and floating zones, a towering artificial dune, simulated ice tracks, and a low-friction ring road. It serves both as a public racing venue for NEVs and a technology “proving ground” for automotive testing.
Notably, its “hanging dune”—an artificial slope with a vertical height of 29.6 meters and a 28-degree incline, equivalent to a 10-story building—has earned two Guinness World Records: “largest dune bashing test field” and “highest dune simulation facility for dune bashing test field.”

RAWALPINDI, Dec 14 (APP):The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) on Sunday successfully organized the three-day Pindi Food Fest-4th Edition at Ayub Park, which attracted a large number of families and food enthusiasts from Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The annual festival aims to celebrate Pakistan’s rich traditional and regional cuisines, introduce innovative food concepts and provide valuable networking and branding opportunities for SMEs, startups and women entrepreneurs, particularly in the food sector.
Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi, Ambassador of Algeria Brahim Romani, Station Commander Rawalpindi Cantonment Brigadier Ali Anjum Syed, along with representatives of various trade associations and other distinguished guests, visited the festival and appreciated RCCI’s initiative.
During his visit, the minister lauded the RCCI for its proactive role in addressing the issues of the business community while also promoting cultural, social and recreational activities for the public. He congratulated RCCI President Usman Shaukat, his cabinet members and the entire organizing team on the successful arrangement of the food festival.
He said that RCCI deserves appreciation for organizing positive, constructive and people-friendly activities such as the annual food festival. Such events, he added, play a vital role in projecting Pakistan’s soft image at national and international levels. He noted that the presence of foreign diplomats at the festival would help convey a positive impression of Pakistan abroad.
The minister further emphasized that it was wrong to associate Pakistan solely with terrorism, adding that the world must also be introduced to the country’s culture, traditions, hospitality and positive societal values.
RCCI President Usman Shaukat, while highlighting the core objectives of the festival, emphasized the promotion of local culinary heritage and the empowerment of women-led food businesses.
“More than 100 food stalls are participating in the festival, showcasing a wide variety of flavors and cuisines. This initiative provides women entrepreneurs with a platform to launch and grow their brands while building meaningful connections within the industry,” he said.
He added that the festival also served as a source of inspiration for aspiring women entrepreneurs.
“Our goal is to create opportunities and motivate women who have yet to begin their entrepreneurial journey,” he said.
This year, over 15 stalls have been allocated exclusively for women, particularly those running home-based food ventures.

Year’s last polio vaccination drive from Monday

0
RAWALPINDI, Dec 14 (APP):The fifth and final anti-polio campaign of the year is starting from Monday, across the Rawalpindi district, with over 4,500 teams deployed to vaccinate approximately 800,000 children under five years of age.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) District Health Authority Rawalpindi, Dr Ehsan Ghani, told APP that despite recent positive environmental samples, the district’s immunization efforts remain strong.
He confirmed the detection of poliovirus in samples from Dhoke Dallal and Safdar Abad sites, calling it an alert for the district and province, indicating ongoing virus circulation.
However, Dr Ghani said the district’s performance is satisfactory, with over 95% coverage achieved in recent campaigns. The target of vaccinating more than 750,000 children under five was fully met.
He added that routine immunization has been strengthened in 25-45 high-risk union councils, with strict instructions to vaccinators to ensure no child from birth to two years goes unvaccinated.
“During the recent Measles-Rubella campaign, Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) drops were also given to children from birth to five years across the district,” he said.
The health chief expressed hope that intense interventions will turn environmental samples negative soon. He noted that samples from another sensitive site in Taxila have consistently remained negative.
Dr Ghani attributed the risk to high population movement, with a daily turnover of 4-6% from areas like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, southern Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and within Punjab. “People from these areas often settle temporarily, and if carrying the virus, it can spread locally,” he explained.
Dr Ghani assured that all possible efforts are underway to make the district polio-free.
