Governor Kundi, CM Afridi discuss provincial development, NFC Award

PESHAWAR, Oct 31 (APP): Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi and Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi hold meeting at Governor House on Friday during the oath-taking ceremony of the provincial ministers.

During the meeting, both leaders discussed the overall law and order situation in the province, public welfare initiatives, and various development projects aimed at promoting prosperity and progress in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

They also held consultations regarding the province’s rights in the upcoming National Finance Commission (NFC) Award and agreed to present a united front in securing the province’s due share and rights from the federal government.

Governor Faisal Karim Kundi emphasized the importance of collective efforts for the rights and development of the province, saying, “There is a need to raise a joint voice at every forum for the rights of our province and people. Together, we will make Khyber Pakhtunkhwa a peaceful and developed province.”

Seminar on Quranic concept of time held at UoG

GUJRAT, Oct 31 (APP): The Hayatian Science Society and Club (HSSC) of the University of Gujrat organised a seminar titled concept of time in the light of the Holy Quran at Hafiz Hayat Campus.
The event, held in collaboration with the Department of Student Affairs, aimed to promote intellectual and spiritual understanding among students.
Renowned Islamic scholar Tahir Jaleel Azeemi was the chief guest, while HSSC Coordinator Dr. Zahid Anwar presided over the session.In his address, Azeemi emphasized that Islam encourages intellect and wisdom rather than blind imitation.
He elaborated on Quranic concepts of saat, waqt, dahr, and al-asr, explaining their connection with faith and divine consciousness.The seminar concluded with recitation and naat presentations, followed by souvenir distribution by Assistant Director of Student Services Center Khurram Irshad.

Aleem Khan reaffirms commitment to facilitate smoother cross-border movement of goods with Iran

ISLAMABAD, Oct 31 (APP): Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan on Friday reaffirmed his commitment to facilitating smoother cross-border movement of goods between Pakistan and Iran.
He expressed these views in a meeting with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, who called on him in here, said a press release.
During the meeting, Minister Abdul Aleem Khan conveyed his optimism that bilateral trade between the two brotherly countries could reach Rs 10 billion, emphasizing that all necessary measures would be taken to address issues related to the entry and exit of Iranian trade trucks at border points.
The minister said that steps would be taken in coordination with the National Logistics Cell (NLC), while a meeting would also be arranged between the Secretary of Communications and officials of the Iranian Embassy to expedite progress.
He emphasized that although bureaucratic red tape sometimes slows down procedures, consistent follow-up and perseverance ultimately help overcome such challenges.
Abdul Aleem Khan reaffirmed his support for the vision of the Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to further enhance trade and connectivity between the two nations. “The love and goodwill between Pakistan and Iran have increased manifold over the past six months,” he added.
The Iranian Ambassador, Reza Amiri Moghadam, expressed gratitude to the Minister for successfully organizing the Regional Transport Ministers Conference (RTMC), which brought together ministers and transport experts from several countries.
He noted that the visit of Iran’s Minister for Transport and Urban Development, Ms. Farzaneh Sadegh, was highly significant, and the conference provided valuable opportunities for dialogue and cooperation among regional partners.
The envoy appreciated the Minister’s efforts in uniting regional stakeholders to discuss connectivity and trade-related issues, which he said have played a key role in strengthening Pakistan-Iran collaboration.
He further mentioned that Iran plans to import large amounts of meat from Pakistan and is also exploring the possibility of purchasing 200,000 tonnes of maize (corn) from Pakistan as a viable trade option.
Ambassador Moghadam remarked that relations between the two countries are now at their highest point in the last 40 years, adding that a series of high-level visits and follow-up meetings are lined up in the coming weeks to achieve shared targets.
He thanked the Minister for the hospitality that was extended during the RTMC Conference. Commercial Councilor of Iran to Pakistan Mohsin Shahbazi was also present during the meeting.

Punjab’s First Pink Van Mobile Police Station inaugurated in DG Khan

DERA GHAZI KHAN, Oct 31 (APP):The Pink Van Mobile Police Station and Licensing Unit — a first-of-its-kind initiative in the district — was inaugurated at Ghazi University Dera Ghazi Khan under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to deliver government services at citizens’ doorsteps.
Regional Police Officer Captain (R) Sajjad Hasan Khan inaugurated the facility in the presence of District Police Officer Captain (retd) Tariq Walayat, District Traffic Officer DSP Irfan Ashraf, Registrar Dr. Muhammad Asif, Professor Dr. Arshad Munir, faculty members, students, and citizens.
RPO Sajjad Hasan Khan said the establishment of the Pink Van marks a revolutionary step toward citizen-friendly policing, ensuring easy and dignified access to services, particularly for women. Trained female police officers have been deployed to provide a safe and respectful environment for applicants.
DPO Tariq Walayat added that the mobile unit offers multiple services including FIR registration, issuance and renewal of driving licenses, character certificates, and other facilities available at Police Khidmat Centers. The initiative will benefit students, working women, and residents of remote areas.
Students of Ghazi University lauded Punjab Police’s “doorstep service model” and submitted on-the-spot applications for driving licenses and character certificates.

DC chairs meeting of District coordination Committee

HYDERABAD, Oct 31 (APP): Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad, Abdul Samad Nizamani, presided over a meeting of District Coordination Committee on National Action Plan/Apex Committee at Darbar hall Friday and reviewed various district-level operations and actions carried out during October 2025.
Addressing the participants, Deputy Commissioner directed that in light of the decisions made under the National Action Plan/Apex Committee, actions against illegal fuel pumps, arrests of beggars and contractors, challans for traffic violations, vehicle confiscations and operations against non-custom paid vehicles should be further intensified.
DC instructed officers of  Health Department to accelerate operations against quack doctors and illegal medical centers in the district.
Deputy Commissioner also directed Special Branch and other law enforcement agencies to prepare and submit lists of unregistered laboratories and quacks operating clinics from their homes.
He urged Customs officers to speed up actions against illegal petrol pumps, units and oil depots in the district and to ensure strict checking of vehicles traveling on the Mehran and National Highways to prevent smuggling.
DC instructed Assistant Director Social Welfare to provide a complete list of all NGOs and social organizations operating in the district. He also directed traffic police officers to ensure smooth traffic flow on Mehran Highway and within Nawabshah city. He also emphasized that officers of Local Government Department must ensure improved sanitation in all towns and union councils and strictly carry out anti-mosquito spray campaigns.
Expressing displeasure over the absence of officers from  Agriculture, Municipal Corporation, Food Authority and Forest Departments, Deputy Commissioner said that letters will be sent to the concerned departmental secretaries to initiate action against the absent officers.
Officers from Customs, Excise, Special Branch, Police, Health, HESCO, and other departments briefed the meeting about  operations and actions carried out during the month of October.
The meeting was also attended by Pakistan Army officials Colonel Yasir and Major Amanullah, District Health Officer Dr. Mudassir Hussain Domki, Medical Superintendent PMCH Dr. Yar Ali Jamali, DSP Police Shehzad Soomro, Rescue In-charge Abdul Manan, as well as representatives from Anti-Corruption, Labor, Public Health, Transport, Motorway Police, Price Control Committee, Education, Social Welfare, law enforcement agencies, Assistant Commissioners, and other concerned departments.

Farah Naz expresses satisfaction over development work of Danish School Kuri Road

ISLAMABAD, Oct 31 (APP):Farah Naz Akbar, Parliamentary Secretary for Education, on Friday, expressed satisfaction over the development work of Danish School, Kuri Road and hoped that construction will be completed by the end of the year.
She expressed these views while talking to the media during the visit to the site. Moreover, she personally went to each and every block and commended the project team for their dedication and professionalism, expressing confidence over the pace and quality of progress of the work.
Farah Naz Akbar was optimistic about the completion of work within the given time frame – by December 2025 – so that the upcoming academic session can commence in March 2026.
She further informed that similar Danish School projects – a flagship initiative of Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif – are also underway across the country, including Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu & Kashmir.
Insha’Allah, these institutions will soon become beacons of learning and opportunity for underprivileged children across Pakistan, she vowed.
She also lauded the efforts of the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, the Project Management Unit (PMU), the Project Director, and the entire team for their tireless commitment to the Prime Minister’s vision of inclusive and equitable education.
“The Danish School initiative, launched under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, reflects our collective resolve to empower the next generation through quality education,” Farah Naz stated.
She emphasized the importance of ensuring timely completion and sustainable maintenance of these schools to benefit students for years to come.
She also planted a tree on the school premises as part of the ongoing tree plantation campaign, reaffirming the government’s commitment to a greener and cleaner Pakistan.
