Presiding over the conference, Vice Chancellor of Allama Iqbal Open University, Prof. Dr Nasir Mahmood, said in his address that a study of Islamic history revealed that during those eight centuries, we inherited a grand legacy.
“Islamic civilization taught refined ways of living, we were the fountain head of knowledge. If we wish, the entire treasure is still available to us, by adopting moral strength, we can benefit from it,” he said.

Australian Immi App rolled out in 34 countries, now open to Pakistani visa applicants

0
ISLAMABAD, Nov 25 (APP): Australia has expanded its digital visa system to 34 countries, allowing eligible Pakistani applicants to submit key details through the Australian Immi App without visiting a biometric centre.
The Australian High Commission in Pakistan has announced that the Australian Immi App is now available for visa applicants in the country. The app allows eligible users to send their passport information and facial biometrics directly from their smartphones, said in a press release.
According to the High Commission, the new facility removes the need for eligible applicants to travel to biometric collection centres. To use the app, applicants must have previously submitted their biometrics — both facial image and fingerprints — to Australia’s Department of Home Affairs and must hold a valid passport.
Australian High Commissioner Timothy Kane said the move supports the government’s aim to make the visa process easier for travellers, students and skilled workers in Pakistan.
He said the app gives applicants a secure way to share their details while reducing travel time and related costs.
The Australian Immi App, introduced in 2024, has already been rolled out in several regions including the Pacific and Asia. Thousands of applicants in these regions have used the app to complete visa steps through a mobile device.
With the latest expansion, the app is now active in 34 countries. New areas include parts of the Middle East, North Africa, Latin America and Europe.
The High Commission says applicants in Pakistan who meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to use the service as it supports quicker processing.
Officials said the initiative is part of the Department of Home Affairs’ wider plan to modernise visa services and streamline travel procedures.
The department aims to complete the global roll-out of the app across all remaining countries in its Biometric Collection Program by early 2026.
Guidance on eligibility and app use is available on the Department of Home Affairs website.
