CM grieved over loss of lives in traffic accident

LAHORE, Jul 27 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has expressed profound grief over the tragic loss of lives in a bus accident on the M-2 Motorway near Dhok Sial.
In her message, the chief minister extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed for their strength and patience in this time of immense sorrow. She also wished a swift and complete recovery for those injured in the accident.
CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized that the Punjab government stands with the affected families and will ensure all necessary assistance and medical care is provided to the injured.

CM orders visible, improved cleanliness

LAHORE, Jul 27 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed the authorities concerned to ensure visible cleanliness and active sanitation staff across all neighborhoods of the province.
She was chairing a meeting to review progress on the ‘Suthra (Clean) Punjab Program’, where she emphasized that as public expectations grow, performance must also improve.
During the meeting, the CM was briefed in detail on various components of the program, including the introduction of e-invoicing and e-billing for sanitation fees, being implemented for the first time under the initiative. She was also informed about the Vehicle Trip Counting System and Vehicle Tracking Management System to monitor waste collection operations more effectively.
Highlighting international interest in the program, Maryam Nawaz Sharif said, “Development institutions from the World Bank, Europe, and other countries have expressed willingness to invest in the Suthra Punjab Program.”
The CM said that while the initiative is progressing successfully, complaints from certain districts regarding cleanliness must be promptly addressed. “Contractors failing to meet performance standards should be removed,” she asserted.
The CM further instructed the use of Safe City cameras to monitor sanitation conditions across Punjab. It was agreed during the meeting that 136 additional waste disposal points would be established across the province to improve garbage collection and management.

Pak team off to a fantastic start in World Jr Squash

ISLAMABAD, Jul 27 (APP):Pakistan team has got off to a fantastic start, winning their first group stage match in the team championship of World Junior Squash in Egypt, featuring 22 nations competing for the top spot.
The individual event of the World Junior Squash Championships has concluded, and the team championship kicked off on Sunday, said a press release.
In the individual event, Pakistan’s Anas Ali Shah won the Plate Event final, while Egypt’s Muhammad Zakaria won the Main Draw final.
Pakistan Team has been declared the 6th seed and is part of Group F of Team Event.
In the Match, Pakistan beat Brazil 3-0 and will play the next game against Kuwait.

AJK PM affirms commitment to freedom struggle of Kashmiri people

MIRPUR, Jul 27 (APP):AJK Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq Chaudhry has reaffirmed the commitment of the Kashmiri people to continue their freedom struggle despite all challenges.
He made this statement while meeting with a 105-member delegation of the 16th Balochistan National Workshop, led by Brigadier Bilal Ghafoor, in Mirpur on Sunday.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized that the right to self-determination is a non-negotiable right of the Jammu Kashmir people.
The Prime Minister briefed the delegation on the prevailing political and human rights situation in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He stated that Kashmiris reserve the right to self-defense against Indian aggression, citing the UN Charter.
He also condemned India for sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan and described India’s “Fitna-ul-Kharij” as “Fitna-ul-Hindustan.” The PM highlighted India’s efforts to destabilize Pakistan and AJK through global disinformation campaigns and fake social media accounts.
On cross-LoC trade, the PM made it clear that no trade with India can take place from AJK until India abandons its aggressive posture and adopts a path of peace. He emphasized the need to reject all externally sponsored agendas to ensure the development of the state.
The Prime Minister also highlighted his government’s focus on merit and transparency, citing significant steps taken in the past two years, including action against corruption and mafias.
The Prime Minister revealed that his administration has faced regular protests but has resolved issues through dialogue and prudent decision-making. He highlighted the government’s efforts to promote merit and transparency, including the reactivation of the Public Service Commission and the recruitment of nearly 3,000 teachers through NTS on merit.
The PM also shared that the government is spending Rs. 71 billion on subsidized flour and electricity, yet the state is running a surplus of Rs. 19 billion.
Ministers of AJK Government,  Pir Muhammad Mazhar Saeed Shah, Abdul Majid Khan, and Mian Abdul Waheed were also present on this occasion.

PSL Plays key role in selection of Cricket players: Nasir Shah

KARACHI, Jul 27 (APP):Sindh’s Provincial Minister for Energy, Planning and Development, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, stated that the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is playing a pivotal role in the selection of national and international cricket players.
He expressed these views during a meeting with the CEO of PSL-winning team Lahore Qalandars, Rana Atif, who visited Ali House with the championship trophy. Senator Aajiz Dhamrah and Member of Provincial Assembly Asif Musa were also present on the occasion.
Nasir Hussain Shah said that the arrival of Mr. Rana at Ali House was an honor for him, and he is grateful that Rana is actively engaged in identifying talented cricketers from Sindh and is involved in talent hunting. He said that their development program is, in essence, a plan for the country’s progress.
He added that searching for talented young players not only across Sindh but throughout Pakistan is a challenging and exhausting task, and at the same time, it is a great service to the nation.
The Minister emphasized that Sindh has no shortage of talented young athletes, and if talent is sought on merit, many such players are ready to prove themselves on national and international stages and are simply awaiting selection.
On the occasion, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah thanked Lahore Qalandars CEO Rana Atif for highlighting cricket talent across Sindh under their talent hunt initiative and for channeling the skills of young players in service of the country. He assured complete support and provision of all necessary facilities from the Sindh government.

Saghar hails Shabbir Shah as an uncompromising warrior of Kashmir cause

ISLAMABAD, Jul 27 (APP):Former Convener of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference-AJK chapter and acting chairman of the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, has lauded illegally detained senior APHC leader Shabbir Ahmad Shah for his unwavering commitment to the Kashmiris’ struggle for self-determination.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, Saghar praised Shah for completing 39 years in prison and eight consecutive years in India’s notorious Tihar jail.
Terming Shabbir Shah as an icon of the ongoing movement, he said, “Shah spent 39 years of his life in prisons, detention, and interrogation centers due to his political beliefs”.
He said that despite years of illegal imprisonment, Indian authorities could not prove a single evidence against him in the court of law. “Shah’s illegal imprisonment is a clear case of vendetta and injustice”, he maintained.
Saghar highlighted Shah’s role as a strong proponent of Kashmiris’ right to self-determination and his pursuit of a peaceful settlement of the Kashmir dispute in line with UN Security Council resolutions.
Despite suffering from acute ailments, Shah remains firm and undeterred in his stance, he added.
