ITP Police uses drone surveillance to fine over 200 violators in one week

ISLAMABAD, Jul 26 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police has intensified its traffic enforcement efforts through drone surveillance, penalizing more than 200 drivers in the past week alone for various violations across the federal capital.
A public relations officer told APP on Saturday that these legal actions were taken under the newly introduced drone monitoring system, aimed at ensuring smooth traffic flow and strict adherence to traffic regulations.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Captain (retd) Syed Zeeshan Haider said that this is the first time in Pakistan that drone technology is being utilized to monitor traffic violations in real time.
He said the drones captured clear evidence of offenses such as red-light violations, improper lane changing, and reckless driving on key roads of Islamabad. The footage enabled prompt identification and action against violators.

He said the use of this advanced technology is strengthening Islamabad’s integrated traffic system and enhancing the efficiency of enforcement efforts. “This system is a milestone in modern policing and a significant step in promoting respect for traffic laws among citizens,” he added.
The ITP has vowed to expand the drone surveillance program further in the coming weeks to enhance road safety and minimize violations across the city.

Senator Talha Mehmood inaugurates two-day free eye surgical camp at NPC

ISLAMABAD, Jul 26 (APP):Senator Talha Mehmood, on Saturday, inaugurated a two-day free surgical eye camp jointly organized by the National Press Club (NPC) and Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital, Rawalpindi. The initiative aims to provide free eye care services to NPC members and their families on July 26–27, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Senator Talha Mahmood, while inaugurating the camp, commended the efforts of NPC leadership and the president of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), Afzal Butt, for organizing the free eye surgical camp with modern facilities.

“Organizing a camp—free world-class medical facilities—for NPC’s members and their families clearly highlights the commitment of leadership regarding the medical care of media professionals,” he said.
On this occasion, the president of  PFUJ,  Afzal Butt, said that arranging such facilities for the convenience of the members in this surgical camp is a great achievement of NPC President Azhar Jatoi, Secretary Nayyar Ali, Finance Secretary Waqar Abbasi and others.
In this camp, all the facilities are available to the members and their families under one roof and free of cost, he added.
Meanwhile, NPC President Azhar Jatoi also praised the services rendered by the expert medical team.

He highlighted the rising prevalence of vision issues in this modern digital era.
“Vision problems are very common because of excessive use of mobile phones and computers, which affects their vision,” he noted.
He explained that journalists often neglect their own health due to demanding professional schedules. By organizing this camp, NPC hopes to facilitate access to essential eye care for its members and their families.
The camp features free eye examinations, medicines, eyeglasses, laboratory services and laser (phaco) surgery for media workers suffering from white cataracts.
On the opening day, hundreds of members received these services free of charge, including surgical interventions where needed.

ISLAMABAD, Jul 26 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police, Karachi Company, Margalla, Shalimar, Sabzi Mandi, Ramna, Golra, Shams Colony, Khanna, and Koral police station teams arrested 13 accused involved in various criminal activities.
A public relations officer told APP on Saturday that ICT Police teams also recovered 5,050 grams of heroin, 1,903 grams of hashish, 350 grams of ice, five pistols with ammunition, and a dagger from their possession. Cases have been registered against the arrested individuals, and further investigations are underway.

Additionally, during a special campaign launched for the arrest of proclaimed offenders and absconders, various police teams apprehended 43 more criminals.

Pakistan hosts Regional Chiefs of Defence Staff Conference

This landmark multilateral engagement marked a significant stride toward advancing regional security cooperation, military diplomacy, and strategic dialogue among participating nations, said a news release issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

“In an era defined by transnational threats and complex hybrid challenges, the imperative for deeper military-to-military cooperation, strategic dialogue, and mutual trust is paramount. Pakistan remains fully committed to working with partner nations to build a secure and prosperous regional environment,” remarked the COAS.

CM reviews progress on Model Village, ‘Suthra Punjab’ and Waste-to-Value projects

LAHORE, Jul 26 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired a comprehensive meeting to review the progress of the Model Village, ‘Suthra’ (Clean) Punjab, and Waste-to-Value Projects, here on Saturday.
During the meeting, the CM was briefed on the comprehensive plan to develop 1,200 model villages across the province, aimed at transforming rural communities through sustainable infrastructure and improved public services.
The CM reviewed the features of the initiative, saying that each model village will be equipped with 24/7 water supply, a complete sewage network, and a waste management treatment plant. She added that paved streets, rehabilitated roads, children’s parks, and tree plantation will be integral parts of every model village. “Houses will be numbered, and signboards will be installed to ensure proper documentation and navigation,” she emphasized.
The CM was briefed on a solar-powered water supply and sewage system model, highlighting the project’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions. It was informed that development in 130 villages under the pilot phase of the Model Village Project has already been completed.
She directed the authorities to provide a clear deadline for the early completion of the remaining work and stressed that public needs of each area will guide the prioritization process. “Every village will be fully developed under this initiative,” she added. She said the Punjab government is striving to raising the standard of living in rural areas through clean, green, and well-managed village environments.

PDMA Punjab issues flood alert for Chenab and Jhelum rivers

LAHORE, Jul 26 (APP):The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued a flood warning for the Chenab and Jhelum rivers and their adjoining tributaries, cautioning the public and authorities of possible low to medium-level flooding from July 28 to 31.
According to the alert issued on Saturday, PDMA has warned of an unusual rise in water levels in both rivers, urging authorities to take preemptive measures. The alert has been dispatched to Commissioners of Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, and Dera Ghazi Khan divisions, as well as Deputy Commissioners of vulnerable districts including Gujrat, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Sargodha, Khushab, Jhang, Khanewal, Multan, Kot Addu, Muzaffargarh, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, and Chiniot.
Relief Commissioner Punjab, Nabeel Javed, has instructed all relevant departments—including WASA, Local Government, Agriculture, Irrigation, Health, Forest, Livestock, and Transport—to remain fully alert. He emphasized that in line with the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, all preparations must be finalized in advance.
Emergency control room staff have been directed to remain on high alert, while Rescue 1122’s disaster response teams have also been instructed to prepare for rapid deployment. Authorities have been told to ensure timely evacuation of people and livestock from riverbed areas and to establish flood relief camps with food, clean drinking water, and essential facilities.
Director General PDMA, Irfan Ali Kathia, urged the public to strictly follow precautionary guidelines and cooperate with authorities during any evacuation process. “The Punjab government will ensure the protection and welfare of citizens and their livestock,” he assured.

CM takes notice of murder

LAHORE, Jul 26 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has taken strict notice of the tragic and horrifying incident involving the slitting of the throat of a 12-year-old girl in Kot Radha Kishan, district Kasur.
Expressing deep grief over the heartbreaking crime, the CM directed the authorities concerned to submit a detailed report immediately and to ensure swift and strict action against those involved.
CM Maryam Nawaz extended her heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the bereaved family, assuring them that justice will be served and the perpetrators will not escape the law.
