Governor discusses Independence Day celebrations

KARACHI, Jul 25 (APP):Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori met a delegation of the MQM Graduate Forum at the Governor House to discuss proposals for the upcoming “Battle for Truth Independence Day” celebrations scheduled to take place from August 1 to 14.
      The delegation was led by Dr Abdul Qadir Khanzada while senior MQM Pakistan leader Dr Farooq Sattar and other members were also present during the meeting.
     The meeting included detailed discussions on education, healthcare, employment, and welfare. Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori acknowledged the social contributions and valuable suggestions of the Graduate Forum and reaffirmed his commitment to guiding and empowering the youth of the province.
    He stated that under the Governor’s Initiative, several transformative projects are currently being run at the Governor’s House, including IT training classes, scholarship programs, and entrepreneurship development courses.
    He further said that young individuals who present strong business proposals are being provided with interest-free loans to help them establish their ventures and become self-sufficient.
   Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori emphasized that every possible resource is being utilized to guide the youth of Sindh towards a promising and successful future.

Widespread rain, wind and thundershowers expected as monsoon intensifies across Pakistan from July 28

ISLAMABAD, Jul 25 (APP):The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted more rains accompanied by wind and thundershowers across various regions of the country as weak monsoon currents are currently penetrating upper and central Pakistan and are likely to intensify from July 28.
A westerly wave was also expected to enter Pakistan on July 29, which will further strengthen the weather system.
According to the advisory, rain-wind/thundershowers with isolated heavy falls are likely in the following regions:
In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, areas including Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur are expected to receive rain-wind/thundershowers with isolated heavy falls from July 27 to 31, with occasional gaps.
In Gilgit-Baltistan, districts such as Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, and Shigar will also experience rain-wind/thundershowers with isolated heavy falls from July 27 to 31, with occasional gaps.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rainfall is predicted in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Kohat, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, North and South Waziristan, Tank, and Dera Ismail Khan from July 28 to 31, with occasional gaps.
In the Punjab province and Islamabad Capital Territory, rain-wind/thundershowers with scattered heavy falls are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Kasur, and Okara from July 28 to 31, with occasional gaps. Additionally, rain-wind/thundershowers are likely in southern Punjab including Dera Ghazi Khan, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Khanewal, Pakpattan, Vehari, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, and Kot Addu from July 29 to 31, with occasional gaps.
In Balochistan, rain-wind/thundershowers with isolated heavy falls are expected in northeastern and southern districts including Barkhan, Musakhel, Loralai, Sibi, Harnai, Dera Bugti, Kohlu, Lasbela, Awaran, Khuzdar, Quetta, Zhob, Qilla Saifullah, Qilla Abdullah, Ziarat, Kalat, and Sherani from the night of July 29 to July 31.
In Sindh province, mainly hot and humid weather is expected to persist in most parts. However, rain-wind/thundershowers are likely in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpur Khas, Mithi, Khairpur, Dadu, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Sanghar, Sukkur, Ghotki, and Larkana on July 30 and 31, with occasional gaps.
The PMD has also issued an impact-based advisory stating that heavy rainfall may generate flash floods in local nullahs and streams of Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and in the hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan and adjoining parts of northeastern Balochistan, northeast Punjab and Kashmir from July 29 to 31.
Urban flooding is also likely in low-lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, and Sialkot during July 28 (night) to 31.
Landslides and mudslides may lead to road blockages in vulnerable hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galliyat, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir during the forecast period.
Windstorms and lightning may damage weak structures, such as kacha houses, electric poles, billboards, solar panels, and vehicles during the rainy spell.
The PMD has advised the general public, travelers, and tourists to avoid unnecessary travel or exposure to vulnerable or disaster-prone areas and to stay updated on the latest weather alerts.
All concerned authorities have been urged to remain on alert and take all necessary precautionary measures to prevent any untoward situation during the forecast period.
