KMC Safari Park welcomes birth of Horse, Sindh Ibex, Chital and other wildlife species

KARACHI, Nov 26 (APP): The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) on Wednesday announced the birth of a horse, multiple Sindh ibex, chital, mouflon, blackbuck, and other wildlife species at Safari Park.
This addition marks an important milestone in the park’s ongoing efforts to create a healthier, safer, and more sustainable wildlife environment.
The newly born animals underwent thorough medical examinations by the veterinary team. The doctors confirmed that all animals are in excellent health, and special care arrangements have been made to ensure their continued wellbeing, said KMC spokesperson Daniyal Siyal.
Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, has directed the concerned departments to provide enhanced care and maintain a sustainable habitat for the newborn wildlife.
Mayor Murtaza Wahab expressed his delight over the encouraging development, stating: “I am pleased to announce the birth of 15 wildlife species at Safari Park. Their arrival not only enhances the beauty and diversity of the park but also stands as proof of the healthy and nurturing environment we have created for them. These efforts reflect our commitment to expanding the park’s wildlife capacity and improving the overall ecosystem.”
He added that this is a moment of joy for Safari Park, Karachi’s residents, and all wildlife enthusiasts. To mark the occasion and acknowledge the significance of these births, Mayor Karachi has instructed officials to arrange a naming ceremony and a formal celebration for the newly born animals.
“We must celebrate their arrival to express our care and compassion. Wildlife deserves the same respect and protection as humans, and this celebration is a gesture of our commitment to their wellbeing,” the Mayor noted. The recent births include: 1 Mouflon, 4 Sindh Ibex, 4 Blackbuck, 2 Chital (spotted deer), 1 Horse, 2 Fallow Deer, 1 White Fallow Deer.
KMC reiterates its resolve to continue improving Safari Park’s facilities, expanding breeding programs, and creating a world-class environment where wildlife can thrive.

Secretary inspects water treatment plant construction work

FAISALABAD, Nov 26 (APP):Provincial Secretary for Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Noorul Amin Mengal paid a surprise visit to the site of the eastern waste water treatment plant project on late Tuesday to inspect construction work.
Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Managing Director Sohail Qadir Cheema, Deputy Managing Director Engineering Saqib Raza, Project Director Kamran Raza Kahlon and others were also present.
Provincial Secretary Housing Noorul Amin Mengal was briefed about the project by the Managing Director WASA Suhail Qadir Cheema.
The Provincial Secretary said that the eastern waste water treatment plant is a unique and only project of its kind that will be used for farming after treating sewage water and CM Punjab has directed to complete the project on priority basis within the stipulated time frame.
Managing Director Suhail Qadir Cheema said that the project is being completed with the support of Denmark, under which 33 million gallons of daily sewage water will be made useful for crops after treatment.
The completion of the project will not only provide ample water to farmers, but also provide relief to citizens from environmental and air pollution, he said.

Students demonstrate oratory skills in speech contest on anti-corruption theme

MULTAN, Nov 26 (APP):The Higher Education Department (HED) South Punjab, in collaboration with NAB Multan, organized South Punjab–level speech and essay competitions at the Government Graduate College of Science, Multan.
A large number of students from schools and colleges across the Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Bahawalpur divisions participated in the event.
The competitions were held in both Urdu and English categories, with “Role of Youth in Combating Corruption” being the main theme
Participants delivered well-structured speeches and presented thoughtful essays highlighting issues of corruption, transparency, social responsibility, and the role of the younger generation in building an accountable society. Organisers said events like these strengthen students’ confidence and help create awareness about their national responsibilities.
Addressing the ceremony, Additional Director NAB Multan, Umar Randhawa, said that NAB aims to acquaint the younger generation with the values of honesty, integrity, and commitment to eradicating corruption. He added that such activities encourage youth to adopt a positive mindset and play an active role in promoting transparency.
Additional Secretary HED South Punjab, Azeem Qureshi, praised the outstanding performance of participating students, stating that their preparation and delivery reflected the immense talent and potential of the country’s youth. “Their enthusiasm is proof that Pakistan’s future lies in capable and responsible hands,” he remarked.
The event was attended by officers from the School and College Education Departments, principals of various colleges, teachers, and parents. At the closing ceremony, shields and certificates were awarded to the position-holding students.
HED South Punjab and NAB Multan reaffirmed their commitment to continuing such knowledge-based initiatives and anti-corruption awareness campaigns with the same spirit in the future.

MIRPUR (AJK), Nov 26 (APP): Strongly condemning the recent Indian occupational forces’ violent attack on world-reputed independent english Daily “Kashmir Times” in occupied Jammu to curb its policies of the freedom of Jammu Kashmir state, US-based veteran Kashmiri leader Raja Muzaffar, Director, Board — South Asia Democracy Watch, Wednesday expressed his firm and unwavering solidarity with Parbodh Jamwal, Anuradha Bhasin.
“The reported Indian State Investigative Agency’ attack, conducted on an office of the newspaper that has been closed for four years, and the labeling of their work as “activities inimical to the state” are nothing short of an assault on independent journalism”, Raja Muzaffar, ex Senior Vice Chairman of the JKLF (Yasin Malik) said.
He continued  as saying “Since 1954, Kashmir Times has stood as a beacon of truth—amplifying marginalized voices, exposing corruption, demanding accountability, and documenting the lived experiences of the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
“I unequivocally condemn these actions. This harassment must stop immediately. The constitutional and international guarantees that protect press freedom must be upheld without delay. Journalists are not criminals or enemies of the state—they are guardians of truth, transparency, and public interest”, Muzaffar declared
The Kashmiri leader called upon the United Nations, UNESCO, Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), Reporters Without Borders (RSF), Amnesty International, and all global defenders of press freedom to urgently investigate and speak out. The world cannot remain silent while independent media spaces in Kashmir are being targeted, pressured, and suffocated.
“To the entire Kashmir Times team and its readership: You are not alone. Across continents and communities, those who believe in justice, human dignity, and democratic freedoms stand with you. Your resilience inspires us, your work matters, and your right to report without fear must be protected”, Raja Muzaffar concluded.
