Special Education dept, British Council sign LOI to boost education

LAHORE, Jul 29 (APP):A significant milestone in special education was achieved on Tuesday as the Special Education Department Punjab and the British Council signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to strengthen international collaboration in the sector.
The historic agreement, the first of its kind in Punjab’s history, reflects the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to ensure every child receives access to education, healthcare, and a life of dignity.
On the occasion, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Special Education Sania Ashiq briefed Country Director British Council James Hampson on the Punjab government’s initiatives for children with special needs. She emphasized that the education and training of special children remain a top priority, and highlighted the need for an international teacher training exchange program. “We are keen to benefit from the UK’s experience in autism care and inclusive education,” she said.
During the event, Awards of Excellence were conferred on the heads of leading special education institutions under the School Connect Program. The British Council also pledged full technical assistance to support Punjab’s efforts in special education.
Country Director James Hampson stated, “We will fully cooperate in setting a new path of empowerment for special children in Punjab.”

Dist admin to host first mango festival in celebrations of Independence Day

The festival will be held on August 02, 03 (Saturday and Sunday) at Fayyaz Park, Muzaffargarh.

Double murder convict sentenced to death

RAWALPINDI, Jul 29 (APP):A local court has sentenced a double murder convict, Aqil, to death along with a fine of Rs.500,000.0 after being found guilty of shooting a woman and passerby child to death, due to a prior enmity.
According to the details, the case was registered at Jatli Police Station in November 2022.
City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani while praising the investigative and legal teams for their commendable work, reiterated that those killing innocent citizens would never be set free.

Session court Havelian sentences main accused to 26 years in Haji Sikandar murder case

HAVELIAN, Jul 29 (APP):The Additional Sessions Judge Havelian on Tuesday announced the verdict in a high-profile murder case dating back to March 15, 2023, sentenced the primary accused, Bilal Khan, son of Shamraiz Khan, to 26 years of imprisonment along with a fine of Rs. 200,000.
The case involved the murder of Khan, a resident of Ghari Phalgran, who was killed during a local Jirga. Other co-accused Ashir Khan, Irshad Khan, Liaqat Khan, and Nazim Khan were also found guilty and received punishments as per the court’s orders.
However, one of the central figures in the case, Sajjad Khan, remains a fugitive. A challan under Section 512 of the Criminal Procedure Code had already been issued against him for absconding from the court proceedings.

Central taking steps to provide skill training to youth for development of country: Wajiha Qamar

QUETTA, Jul 29 (APP): Minister of State for Education and Professional Training Wajiha Qamar on Tuesday said that Federal government under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is taking measures to provide skill training to youth with the aim to use their abilities for development of the country.
She expressed these views while addressing a press conference on the occasion of visiting the Technical Training Center in Quetta.
She said that the youth are the future of Pakistan and they could be guided in the right direction by making them skilled.
“Balochistan is among the priorities of the prime minister, if Balochistan is developed and prosperous, then Pakistan will develop”, she said adding that a program for capacity building of the youth of Balochistan has also been started so that these youth could make the country and nation famous at international forums, the youth are being provided with training and skills in line with modern requirements.
Wajiha Qamar said that she visited skill-providing institutions with the aim of finding out whether the same skills that are being provided in Islamabad are being provided here. She added that the National Incubation Center at Biotech University, which is working under the Federal Ministry of Information Technology, is an institution that is an example for all incubation centers in Pakistan, the is providing support is commendable saying that the way facilities are being provided to children and girls is commendable.
She noted that children and girls from 36 districts of Balochistan are working on startups, the Prime Minister’s priority is to promote skill-based education, more than 60 percent of the youth are youth, if we show the youth the right direction. We would make them a national asset. NewTech and other institutions are working.
There are challenges in Balochistan. Students from far-flung areas are facing difficulties like providing facilities, she maintained. She said that the federal government is providing industry-related skills to children in view of the modern requirements.
The girls had no skills other than beauty parlor and cooking, but now these girls are being trained, Information technology and artificial intelligence are being given priority, all possible technical and financial support would be provided by my ministry for the support needed in the entire province.
We all have to come together to bring the youth of Balochistan forward and it would be developed then Pakistan could be developed and prosper. Balochistan is among the priorities of the government, an increased share is being kept for Balochistan in scholarships etc, she mentioned.
She said that throughout Pakistan, those students who could not come forward for any reason should be provided these opportunities, efforts are being made to eliminate the existing problems, a capacity building program for the youth of Balochistan has also been started. Prime Minister Skills has provided skills to about 4,000 youth.

RPO reviews progress on Safe City Project

Sargodha, Jul 29 (APP): Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sargodha Muhammad Shahzad Asif Khan on Tuesday visited Safe City project and reviewed the ongoing construction work.
According to police spokesperson here, DPO Muhammad Sohaib Ashraf accompanied him during the visit.
On the occasion, SP Operations Safe City Sargodha Aamir Mushtaq briefed the RPO on the project’s progress.
He said that the installation of CCTV cameras and software has been completed, adding that the remaining work is in its final stages and is expected to be completed within a few days.
On the occasion, ASP trainees were also informed about various aspects of the project, enhancing their understanding of its functionality and benefits.

Section 144 imposed in Bajaur amid security concerns

PESHAWAR, Jul 29 (APP):The district administration of Bajaur has imposed Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code in parts of Tehsil Loe Mamund to ensure public safety during anticipated targeted operations against militants.
According to an official order issued by the Deputy Commissioner, all forms of individual movement — including on foot, vehicles, and on roads or outside houses — have been strictly prohibited from July 29, 2025 (5:00 AM) to July 31, 2025 (5:00 PM) in the following villages: Bad-e-Siah, Tarkho, Irab, Gat, Agra, Khurchai, Dawagai, Kalan, Legharai, Kikot, Gilla, Nakhtar, Zarai, Dambarai, Amanata, and Zagai.
The order has been enforced following recommendations from the District Intelligence Coordination Committee, which cited the need to prevent any untoward incidents during counter-militancy operations.
Authorities have warned that any violation of this order will be dealt with under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The directive has been widely circulated through government and private media channels and affixed at prominent public places across the district.
The order will remain in effect until July 31, 2025, unless withdrawn or modified earlier.

Four Dolphin Force officials dismissed for assaulting citizen

MULTAN, Jul 29 (APP): Regional Police Officer (RPO) Capt (retd) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry has taken strict notice of an alleged assault on a civilian by personnel of the Dolphin Police.
Taking action after the inquiry report on Tuesday, the RPO said that the allegations have been found to be true. He dismissed all four involved officials from service.
According to spokesman of the RPO office, complaints were received regarding the unlawful use of force and misconduct by Dolphin Force officials against a law-abiding citizen. The regional police officer, acted swiftly, initiating a formal investigation. Upon confirmation of the incident in the inquiry committee’s report, the RPO Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry ordered the strictest disciplinary action.
As per the RPO’s orders, Constables Nabeel Hussain, Muhammad Asad, Muhammad Waqas and Muhammad Junaid Iqbal have been dismissed from service.
In his official statement, the RPO Multan said that the primary duty of the police was to protect and serve the public, not to misuse authority. Individuals who tarnish the dignity of the uniform through abuse or misconduct will not be tolerated under any circumstances, he added.
The spokesperson for Multan Region Police added that the force remains fully committed to safeguarding the rights of citizens. Immediate action in such cases reflects the department’s ongoing policy of internal accountability and reform.

MNA Anjum Aqeel Khan calls Hepatitis a ‘Silent Killer’, urges public awareness

RAWALPINDI, Jul 29 (APP):Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Anjum Aqeel Khan has urged the public to treat hepatitis as a serious health threat, calling it a “silent killer” that often causes irreversible damage without showing early symptoms.
He was addressing a seminar held in connection with World Hepatitis Day, aimed at raising awareness about the disease and promoting preventive measures.
The awareness event was organized by Chaudhry Muhammad Naeem, Founder of Savour Food Pakistan and Patron-in-Chief of the Restaurants, Caterers, Sweets and Bakers Association. The seminar brought together lawmakers, medical professionals, social activists, and concerned citizens at a local venue in Rawalpindi.
MNA Anjum Aqeel Khan, the chief guest, emphasized the need for continuous community engagement and awareness campaigns. “This disease does not always present symptoms early on, but it leads to severe liver damage. We must reach out to villages, schools, offices, and mosques to educate people,” he said. “This should not be seen as a one-day campaign, but as a permanent social responsibility.”
Punjab Assembly Member Mohsin Ayub Khan also attended the event and endorsed the need for sustained public health efforts.
Chaudhry Muhammad Naeem highlighted the contributions made under his personal initiative, including the establishment of a dedicated hepatitis laboratory and a modern operation theatre at Benazir Bhutto Hospital. “The objective is to ensure timely and quality treatment for the people of Rawalpindi,” he noted.
President of the Association, Muhammad Farooq Chaudhry, recalled the association’s active role during the COVID-19 pandemic and reaffirmed their commitment to the fight against hepatitis. “Just like we supported public vaccination during COVID, we are equally determined to combat hepatitis,” he said.

CM Bugti approves development projects, security related plans in cabinet meeting

QUETTA, Jul 29 (APP): Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti chaired a cabinet meeting at the Chief Minister Secretariat in which several decisions related to the overall development of the province, effective governance, public welfare and security were approved.
This was said by the spokesperson of the Balochistan government Shahid Rind in briefing the media about the decisions of the meeting in a press conference.
He said that the cabinet has decided to activate non-hospitals of the health department in some areas of the province with the assistance of the Pakistan Army so that basic medical facilities could be provided to the citizens at their doorsteps.
The cabinet, taking an important decision for the improvement of the agricultural sector, approved the provision of agricultural tractors to farmers at a fifty percent subsidy, he said.
He said that at the same time, in the light of the decision of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the upgrading of the trend crop reporters of the agriculture department from grade 6 to grade 11 was also approved. For the improvement of the energy sector, the cabinet has formed a committee consisting of the Secretary Finance and the Secretary Energy for the technical and financial review of 150 kW solar projects in Lasbela and Hub, a high-level committee was formed.
Shahid said that the meeting approved the establishment of the Balochistan Mineral Development Fund, which would play an important role in the transparent use of mineral resources and promotion of investment.
In addition, the Balochistan Contribution Pension Scheme Rules 2025 were approved so that a structured and sustainable pension system can be developed for government employees and to prevent the increasing non-development budget in the coming time, he said.
He said that the cabinet has decided to make the laptop policy more effective and better to promote digital education.
Similarly, recruitments on vacant posts in all departments of the province, including the Sports and Youth Affairs Department, have been approved so that employment opportunities could be created to improve law and order, the cabinet approved the establishment of two new police stations in Kohlu, additional security for Mangi Dam, establishment of CTD police stations in Rakhni and Barkhan and changes in CTD limits in Loralai and Sibi.
Amendments to the Arms License Rules have been approved, free exemption has been abolished, he noted.
He said that while a comprehensive policy for the security of ministers, advisors and members of the assembly has also been approved, 20 acres of land leased to a private medical institute was withdrawn at the request of the federal government.
The spokesman noted that the appointment of Kiran Baloch as the Chairperson of the Balochistan Commission on the Status of Women was approved for the promotion of women’s rights, the adjustment of intern teachers of Makran and Kech was approved for progress in the education sector.
While the proposed rules of the Excise and Taxation Department and the Journalists Welfare Amendment Rules related to the welfare of journalists were also approved, he stated.
According to spokesperson Shahid Rind, all these decisions reflect the vision of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, which is focused on establishing an empowered, secure, developed and people-friendly Balochistan.
He said that the Balochistan government is committed to the principles of transparency, merit and public service and the fruits of these decisions would soon start reaching the people.
