ANF recovers over 126 kg drugs in seven operations

ISLAMABAD, Jul 30 (APP):Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) while conducting seven operations across the country managed to recover over 126 kg drugs worth more than Rs 10.9 million and arrested seven drug traffickers.
According to an ANF Headquarters spokesperson, in an operation at a courier office in Chaklala Garrison, Rwp, 15 Ecstasy tablets weighing 60 grams were recovered from a parcel sent from Belgium to Mirpur.
In another operation near Yaru, Pishin District, 6 kgs hashish & 2 kgs ice were recovered from the possession of 2 suspects.
In Jamshoro, 12 kgs hashish was recovered from a passenger traveling in a public transport.
Similarly in an operation near University Road, Peshawar, 60 kgs hashish was recovered from a vehicle.
In a crackdown near Kamoki Toll Plaza, Gujranwala, 9.5 kgs opium & 26.4 kgs hashish were recovered from a motorcyclist.
Near Jamshoro Toll Plaza, 9.6 kgs hashish was recovered from the possession of an accused while in an operation near Tarkai Toll Plaza, Jhelum, 1 kg hashish was seized from the possession of a suspect rounded up during the raid.
The spokesperson informed that separate cases have been registered against the accused under the CNS Act.

Excise deptt fines over Rs 1.3 mln to 113 vehicles in citywide crackdown

ISLAMABAD, Jul 30 (APP): The Excise Department of Islamabad on Wednesday conducted a citywide crackdown and imposed fine of over Rs 1.3 million to 113 vehicles.

On the instructions of the Director General of Excise, the department launched a series of enforcement operations across five locations in the city, said the spokesman of Excise department.

The focus was on recovering outstanding token taxes and taking action against vehicles with tinted windows and illegal number plates.

During the operation, Excise teams issued challans to 113 vehicles. Officials also recovered over Rs 1.3 million in token tax dues on the spot. In addition to tax recovery, several vehicle owners were heavily fined for using black-tinted windows and number plates that did not match the approved format.

The DG Excise, Irfan Memon, has directed officials to ensure token tax collection without any exceptions. He also made it clear that there would be no leniency in cases involving tinted windows or non-standard number plates.

Speaking on the campaign, DG Excise urged citizens to avoid using unapproved number plates and to ensure their vehicle documents, including token tax payments, are up to date. He added that such violations not only breach traffic regulations but also affect enforcement systems.

The operations are part of a wider effort to improve compliance and ensure transparency in vehicle documentation across the city. Further checks and recovery drives are expected to continue in the coming days.

Swift resolution of overseas Pakistanis’ issues top priority: OPC official

LAHORE, Jul 30 (APP):Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab Vice Chairperson Barrister Amjad Malik, chairing a meeting with senior officials here on Wednesday, reviewed the Commission’s performance related to pending complaints of overseas Pakistanis.
Addressing the meeting, Barrister Malik underscored that overseas Pakistanis are the nation’s most valuable asset, and the protection of their rights was top priority of the Punjab government. He directed all departments to ensure swift, transparent, and effective resolution of complaints lodged by citizens living abroad.
A comprehensive strategy was approved to accelerate the disposal of pending cases, improve the efficiency of complaint management portals, and enhance inter-departmental coordination. Emphasizing transparency, accountability, and responsive communication, Barrister Malik said these pillars are essential for regaining the trust of overseas Pakistanis. He further announced that monthly Khuli Katchehris will be held regularly, providing overseas citizens with a direct forum to voice their concerns and enabling practical measures to remove systemic hurdles in the delivery of justice.
During the meeting, officials briefed Barrister Malik on the number of active complaints, the resolution rate, and the performance of district-level Overseas Committees. Key issues under discussion included property disputes, family-related matters, and other social challenges frequently faced by overseas citizens. The functionality of the online complaint system and its tracking mechanism also came under review.
Barrister Amjad Malik said the Punjab government is striving to uphold dignity, justice, and respect for overseas Pakistanis through a responsive and transparent system.
Barrister Amjad Malik said that under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the government remains committed to ensuring dignity, respect, and justice for overseas Pakistanis.

IRSA releases 382,200 cusecs water

ISLAMABAD, Jul 30 (APP):Indus River System Authority (IRSA) on Wednesday released 382,200 cusecs water from various rim stations with inflow of 408,300 cusecs.
According to the data released by IRSA, the water level in River Indus at Tarbela Dam was 1537.00 feet which was 135.00 feet higher than the dead level of 1402.00 feet. Water inflow and outflow in the dam was recorded as 264,800 cusecs and 264,400 cusecs, respectively.
The water level in River Jhelum at Mangla Dam was 1199.60 feet, which was 149.60 feet higher than its dead level of 1,050 feet. The inflow and outflow of water was recorded 32,700 cusecs and 7,000 cusecs, respectively.
The release of water at Kalabagh, Taunsa, Guddu and Sukkur was recorded as 285,800, 296,600, 390,100 and 315,900 cusecs, respectively. Similarly, from River Kabul, a total of 30,300 cusecs of water released at Nowshera and 53,600 cusecs released from River Chenab at Marala.

Two-member theft gang arrested

in theft and burglary cases.
According to a police spokesperson, the accused, Salim and Samar,
were apprehended during an operation and the police recovered solar
motors and cash.

Kotwali PS SHO suspended

SIALKOT, Jul 30 (APP):District Police Officer (DPO) Sialkot Faisal Shehzad has taken immediate action on a citizen’s complaint and ordered for suspension of the Station House Officer (SHO) of Kotwali Police Station.
According to police spokesperson, the complaint was filed by a local resident Ateeq Anjum, who alleged that SHO Kotwali Sub-Inspector Asadullah had illegally detained him and tortured him over a over a financial dispute with another citizen.
Following an inquiry conducted by the DSP City Circle, the allegations were proven to be true. In light of the inquiry’s findings, DPO Faisal Shehzad ordered the immediate suspension of SHO Asadullah.
DPO made it clear that misuse of authority and mistreatment of citizens will not be tolerated at all.

Rain in Sialkot, DC visit city

SIALKOT, Jul 30 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Saba Asghar Ali on Wednesday visited the city and reviewed the performance of rain emergency camps, disposal stations, dewatering sets and sanitation staff after a heavy rain.
The rain was recorded 24 mm in Sialkot Cantt, 18 mm in the city, 48 mm at airport, 25 mm at Sambrial, 63 mm at Daska College Road, 58 mm at MC Daska and 7 mm at Pasrur.
The inflow of water at Marala Head Works in the Chenab river was 153,234 cusecs and
outflow was 1,26,284 cusecs. As per the current outflow, the river is in medium flood.
Similarly, water flow in Naullah Deik, Nala Ail, Naullah Bhed, Naullah Palkhu and other waterways is within safe limits and the position of all the places is reported as normal.
The water level in UCC and MR Link was also found below the prescribed safety limit.
The deputy commissioner said the concerned departments should be alert and rainwater drainage should be expedited.

World Hepatitis day awareness walk, seminar organized at DHQ hospital

MIRPUR (AJK), Jul 30 (APP):The World Hepatitis Day has been marked with a grand walk and awareness seminar hosted by  Divisional Headquarters Teaching Hospital (DHQ)  to raise awareness among masses about the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the life-threatening  virus.
Seasoned physician and Deputy Medical Superintendent, Mirpur DHQ Hospital, Maria Zulfiqar led the walk  flanked by  senior medical professionals including  , PMA President Dr. Ejaz Raja, AMS Dr. Awais, Medical Specialist Dr. Jehangir Anjum, Nedical Specialist Professor Dr. Amjad, Professor Dr. Shazia, Dr. Professor Dr. Shazia, Dr. Saima and many other dedicated members of the medical and allied staff.
The walk was passed  through mega compound and various blocks in the hospital premises, symbolizing unity and commitment towards the elimination of the disease.
It was followed by a seminar addressing to which speakers, including DMS, Dr. Maria Zulfiqar, Prof. Dr. Amjad, Dr. Jehangir Anjum and others emphasized for individual and collective role to combat the fatal disease.
In her address, Deputy  Medical  Superintendent (DMS), Dr. Maria Zulfiqar emphasized the importance of early screening, vaccination, safe medical practices, and public education to prevent the spread of hepatitis. She highlighted the role of healthcare professionals in spreading awareness and ensuring safe healthcare delivery.
Prof. Dr. Amjad spoke about the clinical challenges in diagnosing and managing hepatitis, while Dr. Jehangir shared insights on community outreach strategies and patient education.
The event concluded with a pledge to continue efforts for hepatitis prevention and to support government initiatives aimed at achieving the goal of Hepatitis elimination by 2030.

Shah condemns lawlessness in Sukkur

SUKKUR, Jul 30 (APP):Senior politician and social activist Advocate Syed Shafqat Ali Shah has strongly condemned the recent surge in crimes, including murder and robbery, in Sukkur district.
In a statement on Wednesday, Syed Shafqat Ali Shah expressed his deep concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Sukkur, which is known for being a peaceful and thriving commercial hub. He said that the district has become a hotbed of crime due to administrative negligence.
The politician highlighted that incidents of robbery, theft, and murder have become a daily occurrence, leaving citizens feeling insecure. He lamented that the people of Sukkur have lost faith in the district’s political leaders and that various segments of society, including traders, industrialists, builders, engineers, doctors, lawyers, journalists, and shopkeepers, are living in fear of criminals.
Syed Shafqat Ali Shah criticized the police for being ineffective in controlling crime, saying that they seem helpless against the perpetrators. He pointed out recent incidents, including a robbery at a trader’s house in Rohri, where a family member was killed, and the murder of Ghulam Akbar alias Ali Raza Mangrio near Qureshi village.
The social activist demanded that the Sindh government, IG Sindh, and relevant authorities take immediate action to restore peace and security in Sukkur district. He urged them to take concrete steps to curb lawlessness and protect the citizens of Sukkur from the grip of crime.

Sindh Govt notifies fixation of minimum wage for workers over Rs. 40,000 per month

KARACHI, Jul 30 (APP):The Government of Sindh has officially notified a minimum monthly wage of Rs. 40,000 for unskilled workers employed across all industrial and commercial establishments in the province, effective from July 01, 2025.
Provincial Labour Minister Shahid Abdul Salam Thaheem, while announcing the revised wage structure, said the minimum monthly salary for semi-skilled workers has been set at Rs. 41,380, for skilled workers at Rs. 49,628, and for highly skilled workers at Rs. 51,745. These revised rates are applicable across all registered and unregistered establishments, ensuring equal pay for male and female workers.
He further added that any establishment paying on an hourly basis must now ensure a minimum payment of Rs. 192 per hour for their workers.
“The Government of Sindh is committed to pro-labour policies and continues to take concrete steps to guarantee decent wages, improved working conditions, and the overall welfare of workers,” said the Minister. He emphasized that the wage revision aims to ease the economic burden of inflation and promote a dignified livelihood for the working class.
Minister Thaheem also affirmed that the Labour Department remains in constant engagement with industrialists and will ensure strict implementation of labour laws across the board.
