Amir, Sanaullah chair high-level meeting of political committee on AJK

ISLAMABAD, Dec 2 (APP): Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs & Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON, Engineer Amir Muqam and Advisor to Prime Minister on Political Affairs, Senator Rana Sanaullah Khan here on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting of the Political Committee constituted by Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif regarding Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
The meeting discussed the general elections 2026 in AJK and the current political situation there in details, said a press release.
During the meeting, Amir Muqam said that the Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) will fully participate and contest the upcoming elections in AJK and to win the polls due to its government’s past performance, the current prudent policies of the federal government, and the steps taken for the development and uplift of the area.
He highlighted that the PML-N had always worked for the welfare and prosperity of the people and was committed to serving the Kashmiri people in the future as well.
The meeting was attended by PML-N AJK President Shah Ghulam Qadir, former Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider, Secretary General Chaudhry Tariq Farooq, Senior Vice President Mushtaq Minhas, Secretary Information Barrister Iftikhar Gilani, and Chaudhry Abdul Rehman Arain and also expressed their views.

Minister condemns terrorist attack on AC’s convey in Bannu

ISLAMABAD, Dec 2 (APP): Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs & Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON, Engineer Amir Muqam on Tuesday strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the convoy of Assistant Commissioner, North Waziristan Shah Wali in Bannu district.
In a statement, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President of Pakistan Muslim League (N) said that this cowardly act of terrorism has saddened the entire nation.
The federal minister said that the martyred officers and personnel were the protectors of the country, who sacrificed their lives while performing their duties.
He expressed his heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the bereaved families and said that the government was with them in this hour of grief.

Mustafa Kamal meets CEO of Global Fund in Geneva

ISLAMABAD, Dec 02 (APP):Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal met with CEO of Global Fund in Geneva, and highlighted the key efforts of Pakistan in preventing and treatment of HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis (TB), and Malaria.
Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to Geneva, Dr Bilal Ahmed, accompanied the Health Minister during the meeting, according to a press release issued on Tuesday.
Following the meeting, the minister said that effective measures are underway across the country to curb and control these diseases.
He described the Global Fund as a “long-standing and important partner” in Pakistan’s disease control initiatives and commended the organisation’s contributions to the health sector.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the ongoing collaboration and agreed to further strengthen the partnership to improve health outcomes in Pakistan.

CM congratulates UAE on National Day

LAHORE, Dec 02 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has extended heartfelt congratulations to the people and leadership of the United Arab Emirates on their National Day, conveying warm wishes on behalf of the people of Punjab.
In her message, she lauded UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as a visionary leader who transformed ideals into practical success and set new global standards of leadership. She said the UAE has shown that the future is not something to await, but something to create, adding that Pakistan shares the joy and celebrations of the brotherly nation.
Highlighting the deep-rooted bilateral ties, the CM said relations between Pakistan and the UAE are anchored in brotherhood that transcends borders. She noted that the UAE has always stood by Pakistan in times of difficulty, offering unwavering support.
CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif acknowledged the UAE’s role in providing employment, respect, and dignity to millions of Pakistani workers, who in turn have contributed significantly to the development of the UAE through their hard work and skills.

Gandapur performs groundbreaking for UAD building construction

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Dec 02 (APP): Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur on Tuesday performed the groundbreaking of the University of Agriculture Dera Ismail Khan (UAD) building, marking a significant milestone in the university’s development and long-awaited infrastructure.
The university has been functioning for several years without its own dedicated campus, resulting in limited facilities for students. Addressing this longstanding issue, Gandapur announced the allocation of 400 kanals of land for the university’s new building and provided millions of rupees in development funds to strengthen the institution. He also handed over buses, coasters, and other vehicles to enhance transportation for students and faculty.
UAD Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shakeebullah expressed his gratitude and paid tribute to Gandapur for his support, stating that the university community highly values these contributions.
Speaking at the ceremony, Gandapur stressed that true educational progress depends on quality teaching rather than buildings alone. He assured that academic activities would continue smoothly during the construction period and highlighted that several departments have already graduated students, an achievement that demonstrates the success of UAD’s modern academic model.
He further announced the establishment of a Rs One billion endowment fund for emerging universities across the province. Under this initiative, ten universities will receive annual financial support to help them achieve long-term sustainability, improve facilities, and raise academic standards.
Vice Chancellor Dr Shakeebullah said the new campus would offer increased enrollment capacity, improved facilities, and modern learning resources, enabling students to excel nationally and internationally.
He added that the university is poised to secure a prominent position among the country’s leading educational institutions.
The groundbreaking ceremony is being hailed as a landmark moment for UAD, paving the way for future academic growth and strengthened higher education in the region.

7 khwarij terrorists killed in two separate engagements: ISPR

RAWALPINDI, Dec 02 (APP): Security Forces killed seven khwarij terrorists belonging to Indian Proxy Fitna Al Khwarij in two separate engagements in North Waziristan District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.
“On reported presence of khwarij, an intelligence based operation was conducted by the Security Forces in general area Mir Ali.
During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged the khwarij location and after an intense fire exchange, six khwarij were sent to hell,” said a news release issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) here.

Another intelligence based operation was conducted in general area Spinwam. In ensuing fire exchange, one more kharji was effectively neutralised by the security forces, it further said.

Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from killed Indian sponsored khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the Security Forces, Law Enforcement agencies and target killing of innocent civilians.
“Sanitization operations are being conducted to eliminate any other Indian sponsored kharji found in the area as relentless Counter Terrorism campaign under vision “Azm e Istehkam” (as approved by Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan) by Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country,” the news release said.

PRA issues key transfers, postings notification

LAHORE, Dec 02 (APP):Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has issued notification of transfers and postings of several officers.
According to the PRA spokesperson here Tuesday, the notification has been issued on the directions of PRA Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra.
Transfers and posting of officers are as follows:
Fakhar-ul-Islam Dogar has been appointed as Commissioner, Punjab Revenue Authority Multan. Aftab Ahmad, Additional Commissioner Enforcement Multan-I, has been posted as Additional Commissioner Enforcement Faisalabad-I.
Muhammad Ansar, Additional Commissioner Enforcement-II Multan, has been given the additional charge of Additional Commissioner Enforcement-I.
Director Policy Tahira Akram has been assigned the additional charge of Chief Headquarters, Punjab Revenue Authority. Additional Commissioner Lahore, Ayesha Ranjha, will also hold the additional charge of Commissioner Appeals-I.

Balochistan Excise department launches anti-corruption week with NAB collaboration

QUETTA, Dec 02 (APP): The Excise, Taxation and Anti-Narcotics Department of Balochistan has officially launched anti-corruption week, a province-wide initiative running from December 1 to 9, 2025.
Organized in collaboration with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan, the campaign seeks to raise awareness and mobilize citizens against corruption.
According to the Director General Excise, the department received a formal notification from NAB instructing divisional headquarters to undertake extensive public awareness activities. In response, banners, standees, and billboards carrying anti-corruption messages have already been installed across major cities and towns in the province.
The Director General Excise North highlighted that the week-long program will feature seminars, awareness walks, lectures, and interactive sessions designed to engage citizens from all walks of life.
He stressed that youth participation is central to the campaign, noting that the younger generation must be united in safeguarding the trust of tomorrow.
Specially designed awareness banners prepared by the Excise Department have already been distributed and installed at prominent locations across all districts since December 1.
Officials emphasized that ‘Anti-Corruption Week’ reflects the provincial government’s broader commitment to transparency, accountability, and the eradication of corruption at every level.
The campaign is expected to foster greater civic responsibility and strengthen public trust in state institutions.

KP CM aide for full financial integration of merged districts

PESHAWAR, Dec 02 (APP): Special Assistant to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information and Public Relations, Shafi Jan on Tuesday underscored the urgent need for full financial integration of merged districts to ensure effective governance, service delivery and long-term stability in the region.
He expressed these views in a debate at Pakistan Population Summit 2025 in Islamabad, said a release issued here.
Speaking at the forum, he said that while the administrative merger of former FATA regions with KP in 2018 marked a historic step but the financial merger remains incomplete resulting in major governance and development gaps.
He said that KP government is currently catering to the needs of the people in the merged districts through its own. Highlighting the broader challenges faced by the province, Shafi Jan pointed to the surging threats of terrorism and the adverse impacts of climate change on the mountainous border region.
These factors, he emphasized, pose additional challenges to the provincial government’s ability to prioritize investments in essential services and development projects.
The persistent threat of terrorism and the mounting impacts of climate change had further strained the province’s limited financial resources.
He said that marginalized populations can finally be uplifted and brought at par with the national mainstream through adequate resources and appropriate financial allocation.

Punjab govt transfers 16 administrative officers, reshuffles 12 police officers

LAHORE, Dec 02 (APP):The Punjab government has ordered the transfers and postings of 16 administrative officers, including deputy commissioners of nine districts.
According to the notification, Deputy Commissioner Khanewal Salma Suleman has been made OSD with immediate effect, while Maliha Rashid has been appointed as the new Deputy Commissioner Khanewal. Jehanzeb Hussain has been posted as Deputy Commissioner Khushab. Deputy Commissioner Bhakkar Muhammad Ashraf has been directed to report to S&GAD, and Ehsan Ali Jamali has been appointed Deputy Commissioner Bhakkar.
The notification further states that Deputy Commissioner Chiniot Safiullah Khan has been made OSD and Ayesha Rizwan has been appointed Deputy Commissioner Chiniot. Deputy Commissioner Rajanpur Shafqatullah Mushtaq has been directed to report to S&GAD, while Imran Hussain Ranjha has been appointed Deputy Commissioner Rajanpur. Captain (R) Samiullah Farooq has been posted as Deputy Commissioner Sahiwal. Deputy Commissioner Vehari Umrana Tauqeer has been directed to report to S&GAD, and Khalid Javed Goraya has been appointed Deputy Commissioner Vehari. Deputy Commissioner Kot Addu Syed Munawwar Abbas has been made OSD, and Tariq Ilyas Cheema has been posted as Deputy Commissioner Kot Addu. Deputy Commissioner Layyah Ameera Bedar has been directed to report to S&GAD, while Asif Ali has been appointed Deputy Commissioner Layyah.
In a separate notification, the Punjab government has also reshuffled 12 senior police officers. RPO Faisalabad Zeeshan Asghar has been transferred and posted as DIG Welfare and Finance on a vacant position, while RPO Gujranwala Tayyab Hafeez Cheema has been transferred and appointed DIG Special Protection Unit Punjab. Commandant Police Intelligence Punjab Sohail Akhtar has been posted as RPO Faisalabad on a vacant slot, and DIG Special Branch Punjab Khurram Shehzad Haider has been appointed RPO Gujranwala.
The notification adds that RPO Bahawalpur Rao Babar Saeed has been posted as DIG Special Branch Punjab, and DIG Special Protection Unit Punjab Ghazi Salahuddin has been appointed RPO Bahawalpur. RPO Sahiwal Rashid Mehmood Mian has been posted as Commandant Police School of Intelligence Punjab. City Police Officer Gujranwala Muhammad Ayaz Saleem has been appointed RPO Sahiwal. RPO DG Khan Captain (R) Sajjad Hassan Khan Manj has been posted as DIG Security and Admin Special Branch Punjab, while DIG Security and Admin Special Branch Punjab Muhammad Azhar Akram has been appointed RPO DG Khan. SSP IB Rawalpindi Sardar Ghias Gul Khan has been posted as City Police Officer Gujranwala.
