BISP trying to empower programme beneficiaries: Marvi Memon

ISLAMABAD, Apr 11 (APP): Minister of State and Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) MNA Marvi Memon has said that BISP was trying its level best to empower its beneficiaries.

She said this while addressing at the inauguration of
Bohra Women Talent Expo and Food Festival at Al Jamea Safiya playground.

Chairperson BISP reiterated that through BISP E Commerce, the products of beneficiaries are available online giving international recognition to the traditional products of the country.

CIA chief says won’t bring back torture, even if next president orders

NEW YORK, Apr 11 (APP): CIA Director John Brennan said Monday he won’t allow any torture tactics on terror suspects in the future, even if they are ordered by the next president.

In a slap at Donald Trump, the Republican presidential front runner, who has said he will waterboard terrorist suspects if he’s elected, he told NBC News that the spy agency would not conduct interrogations using controversial techniques.
Brennan said that he will not agree to carry out such techniques because “this institution needs to endure.”

President Barack Obama banned waterboarding shortly after taking office in 2009.

SBP striving hard to control money laundering: Qasim Nawaz

LAHORE, April 11 (APP): The SBP Banking Services Corporation’s Managing Director Qasim Nawaz said on Monday that State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is putting in place comprehensive and effective measures to control money laundering.

Talking to media at Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Fair organized by SBP in a local hotel, Qasim Nawaz said that just like agricultural loans, the targets would also be set for the SMEs loans by respective banks. He hoped that volume of SMEs loan would also increase.

Earlier, addressing the SMEs Fair, the Banking Services
Corporation’s MD was of the view that an effective and constant coordination among all relevant public sector departments could help promote the SMEs sector in Pakistan and create vast opportunities of employment.

PM to visit London Wednesday for medical check up

ISLAMABAD, Apr 11 (APP): Finance Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has said the government will continue its tradition of consulting the stakeholders before making important monetary decision.

Finance Minister said this while in meeting with a delegation
of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) at the FBR headquarters on Monday.
The FPCCI delegation gave a detailed briefing on their tax
proposals for Budget 2016 17, said a statement issued by Ministry of Finance here on Monday.

He said that proposals given by representatives of the
Chambers of Commerce and Industry, business community, traders bodies and other stake holders would be accorded due consideration.

UN envoy welcomes the start of ceasefire in Yemen

UNITED NATIONS , Apr 11 (APP): The United Nations Special
Envoy for Yemen has welcomed the start of the ceasefire that began at midnight, 10 April, urging all parties to work to ensure that the terms are fully respected and create a conducive environment for the peace talks scheduled to resume next week.

In a statement, the UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy,
Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, highlighted that the terms and conditions for the cessation of hostilities include commitments for the unhindered access for humanitarian supplies and personnel to all parts of Yemen.

“Both sides have committed to adhere to the Terms and Conditions for the cessation of hostilities which I presented,” the Special Envoy said. “I ask all the parties and the international community to remain steadfast in support for this cessation of hostilities to be a first step in Yemen’s return to peace.

No public meeting to be allowed at D Chowk, F 9 Park: Nisar

ISLAMABAD, Apr 11 (APP): Minister for Interior, Ch. Nisar Ali
Khan on Monday said no public meeting would be allowed at D Chowk or F 9 Park of Federal Capital as such activities infringe upon fundamental rights of people besides inflicting harm on economy.

Addressing a news conference here, he said free for all public
meeting on April 24 in Federal Capital would not be allowed and writ of state must be established.

The Minister ruled out permission to Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf
(PTI) for holding party’s public rally at D Chowk or F 9 Park in Islamabad and said “This issue is not political or personal rather it is an issue of rights of citizens of Islamabad, security of important and sensitive buildings in Capital and also it relates to respect and image of Pakistan,” he said.

ECC approves five different proposals relating to energy sector

ECC approves export incentive package, other projects

ISLAMABAD, Apr 11 (APP):The Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet (ECC) in its meeting chaired by Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar here on Monday considered and approved five different proposals relating to the energy sector.

The ECC considered the proposal for Implementation of North South Gas Pipeline Project under Government to Government Agreement with Russia and approved it, said in a statement issued by Ministry of Finance here.

ECC also constituted a price negotiation committee consisting of Secretary P/NR, Secretary Law, Secretary BoI, Representative of Finance Division, MD SNGPL and MD ISGS to negotiate the project details and pricing with the Russian side.
