PPP candidate from Mirpur City Ch. Ashraf announces to boycott elections

0

MIRPUR (AJK), July 16 (APP): In a surprising and dramatic
move, PPP – nominated candidate from Mirpur City LA-III electoral constituency Ch. Muhammad Ashraf announced here on Saturday to boycott the scheduled July 21 General Elections in AJK as a protest against the absolute hostile, negative, hypocritical and insincere behavior of Prime Minister Ch. Abdul Majeed towards him as well as
his election campaign in the constituency.

The furious and dissident Ch. Ashraf, also sitting Special
Assistant to AJK Prime Minister and former City Mayor announced to boycott contesting the AJK Legislative Assembly Elections while addressing a crowded emergent press conference at his Central
Political Office-cum-resident – the Naangi House here Saturday afternoon.

He was flanked by his party’s local associates including
former city Administrator Khawaja Sajid Mahmood, Ch. Waqas Ashraf, Asif Mir, Zaka Joshi, Tariq Hamza, Mirza Rashed Beig, Choudhri Sawaria and Usmaan Munir Sanwala Ch. Advocate.

Ashraf made it clear that he has only boycotted contesting
the elections, but have not left the party. “I have informed to the party’s top brass by taking them into confidence prior to his decision to boycott the polls – including to the Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and In charge for the party’s AJK affairs Faryaal Talpur about my decision to boycott contesting the polls as a protest against the continued negative and hostile attitude of Prime Minister Ch. Abdul Majeed, who also heads AJK Chapter of
the PPP, right from the first day the party’s top leadership granted the party mandate to him to jump in the scheduled elections arena being candidate of PPP in the constituency of Mirpur City LA – III”, he declared.

He added that the party’s top leadership raised no any
objection over his decision of leaving the ground of the
elections fight.

Ch. Ashraf thanked the party’s top leadership of granting
him party-ticket to contest the scheduled AJK elections from
Mirpur city under the fold of PPP.

Lambasting Ch. Abdul Majeed, the incumbent Prime Minister of the outgoing PPP-led coalition government in Azad Jammu Kashmir and central President of PPP AJK for his alleged negative role towards both the party and his (Ashraf) person, the raging Ch. Ashraf
branded Ch. Majeed of the hidden enemy No. 1 of both the party (PPP) and his person as well as the enemy of Mirpur city constituency – through his blatant negative acts and deeds during his (Majeed) entire rule.

Ashraf categorically declared that the high gravity of the
hypocrisy and insincerity of Ch. Majeed could be assessed through the fact that he was confined only to his person and he was not single person sincere to the party’s fold and ranks, he blamed.

Ashraf continued that although he was granted the party ticket in the bye elections in the same Mirpur city constituency LA-III held last year, the Prime Minister Majeed stated hatching conspiracies against him and the party’s (PPP) interests because of, what he called, his traditional hypocritical role during the above by bye-polls and which led to his defeat in the elections.

He recalled adding that Majeed’s hypocritical
role against his own party (PPP) and his (Ashraf) person caused falling of his vote bank to 11 thousand as compared to 17 thousand he (Ashraf) had secured in the previous AJK General Elections held in 2011 from the same Mirpur city LA-III constituency.

The angry boycotted candidate of PPP in the AJK elections
further charged the AJK Prime Minister Ch. Majeed for deliberately ignoring Mirpur city in the development process during his entire term in power mere because of his severe hostile approach towards the area and his person.

Ashraf further accused Ch. Majeed of launching a hidden
election campaign for PML (N) candidate from Mirpur city
constituency in the elections instead of supporting and encouraging his (Ashraf) electioneering being the candidate of his party – PPP).

Ashraf underlined that instead of performing an active role
to gear up his election campaign being President of PPP AJK,
Ch. Majeed had started undermining him through one pretext or the other in the party ranks.

In this connection he referred to the similar pre-planned
incident of severe hostility where, what he called, some of his (Masjeed) pre-maneuvered stooges started humiliating at the Prime Minister House (Private residence of Ch. Majeed) in Mirpur during a hurriedly-called “meeting of the party’s” activists on Friday – where they were also paid in the same coin in the meet”, he underlined.

Responding to the volley of questions by the media, Ch. Ashraf asserted that his election campaign was touching sky high because of his experience in several of past elections in the same constituency, but the continued and increased hostility and cold shoulder of the party’s President Ch. Majeed towards his election campaign and the party’s interest towards this direction compelled
him to leave the ground.

Categorically declaring no confidence in the leadership of
Ch. Abdul Majeed, as President of PPP AJK Chapter, Ashraf declared that he would never accept or encourage the continuation of the President-ship of Ch. Majeed upon the party.

“Majeed not only abused his person but also worked against the interests of the party during his term as the party’s President as well as the Prime Minister of AJK state during his entire term in office”, Ashraf blamed.

To another question, Ch. Ashraf said that although he still
enjoyed a strong vote bank to the tune of several of thousands in his parent Mirpur City LA – III constituency, yet he will not influence upon his voters for any of particular candidate among his rivals contesting the polls – including belonging to PML (N) and PTI – besides others.

“My voters are now left at liberty to vote the candidate who
so ever they choice to vote for in the scheduled July 21 elections”, he declared without responding in detail.

It may be added that Ch. Ashraf was being considered the
actively fighter candidate from Mirpur City constituency at par with the PML (N) candidate Ch. Muhammad Saeed and the PTI’s Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, former AJK Prime Minister – and sitting member of AJK Legislative Assembly from the area.
