Pakistan, Russia to deepen cooperation through Eurasia Forum 2025

ISLAMABAD, Dec 03 (APP):The Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) and the Zhirinovsky University of World Civilizations, Moscow, in collaboration with the Consortium for Asia-Pacific and Eurasian Studies (CAPES), Islamabad, are set to organize the Pakistan–Russia Eurasia Forum 2025 in Moscow under the theme of “Forging Connectivity and Exploring People-to-People Partnership for a New Era.”
The Forum aims to enhance bilateral engagement between Pakistan and Russia, focusing on key sectors such as education, culture, business, regional development, and people-to-people connectivity, said a press release on Wednesday.
The two-day event will gather a diverse group of participants, including scholars, policymakers, researchers, academics, business leaders, media professionals, and youth delegates from both countries.
Discussions will span a wide range of areas, including non-traditional security challenges, socio-economic and business cooperation, regional connectivity.
This initiative is regarded as an important step toward positioning Pakistan and Russia as meaningful partners within the rapidly evolving Eurasian landscape.

CM takes notice of stray dog attack on infant in Rajanpur

LAHORE, Dec 03 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has taken notice of a tragic incident in which a stray dog fatally attacked an infant in Rajanpur.
Expressing profound grief over the child’s death, the chief minister extended sympathies to the bereaved family and directed that all aspects of the incident be thoroughly examined.
She sought a detailed report from the Deputy Commissioner Rajanpur and instructed authorities to immediately implement effective measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Punjab orders strict implementation of security SOPs in schools

LAHORE, Dec 03 (APP):Punjab Health Minister and Chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order, Khawaja Salman Rafique, has directed the School Education Department to enforce boundary walls, guard training, and other essential security SOPs across educational institutions in the province.
He issued these instructions while chairing a meeting on the security of educational institutions held at the Interior Department on Wednesday. The meeting included a detailed review of existing security arrangements, during which the Secretary of the School Education Department and other officials briefed the committee.
Khawaja Salman Rafique said a comprehensive security audit of schools across Punjab is underway. He stressed that the installation of panic buttons in educational institutions must be ensured without delay. “Providing a peaceful and secure educational environment to students is the top priority of the government,” he added.
Secretary Home, Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi, informed the meeting that mock security exercises are being conducted in schools across the province. He emphasized that law enforcement agencies, in coordination with district administrations, should take all necessary measures to strengthen school security.
Those present at the meeting included Secretary School Education Department Khalid Nazir Wattoo, Special Secretary Operations of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Nabila Irfan, Special Secretary Home Fazalur Rehman, Additional Secretary Ayesha Mumtaz, DIG CTD, Additional Secretary Higher Education Department Aftab Ahmed Khan, Dr. Syed Ansar, SSP Farooq Qazi, Additional Secretary Special Education Muhammad Saleem, and DG School Education Department Rana Abdul Qayyum.

SSUET organized closing ceremony of 46th HEC All Pakistan Inter-Varsity Women Tennis Championship

KARACHI, Dec 03 (APP):Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology, in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission of Islamabad, hosted the closing ceremony for the 46th HEC All Pakistan Inter-varsity Women Tennis Championship.
In the singles competition, Shinza from Lahore University claimed the first prize, followed by Rahat ul Ain from Lahore University in second place and Sapna from Punjab University in third.
In the doubles category, the team of Rahat ul Ain and Shinza from the University of Lahore took home the first prize, while Anzal and Asia from Lahore College for Women secured second place, and Sania and Sapna from Punjab University stood third. The University of Lahore was awarded the trophy for first place, with the University of Punjab and Lahore College for Women receiving trophies for second and third places, respectively.
While speaking on the occasion, the Chancellor of SSUET, Muhammad Akbar Ali Khan said that Sir Syed University is the only university offering full scholarships to those who excel in sports. We believe that nurturing talent in sports is just as important as academic achievement, and we are dedicated to fostering an environment where both can thrive, he added. Sir Syed University is a trendsetter in promoting sports and education.
Chairperson of Zakir Ali Foundation, Erum Akbar Ali, Vice President of the Pakistan Tennis Federation, Khalid Rehmani and Registrar Cdr. Syed Sarfraz Ali also spoke the occasion.
The event was attended by notable figures including Dr Jafar Nazir Usmani, Tariq Sabzwari, Nafees Rabbani, Dr Kashif Shaikh, Mohsin Khan, Fahad Farooqui, Olympian Sameer Hussain, Samad Habib, Syed Muhammad Talha, Saeed Ahmed, Nomanuddin, and others.
