Asif stresses accountability regarding investments in offshore companies

ISLAMABAD, Apr 10 (APP): Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said that there should be indiscriminate accountability regarding investments in offshore companies.
In a statement, he said Imran Khan should also present detail of his offshore investment, Radio Pakistan reported on Sunday.
The Minister said investigations should be carried out to know how much amount of people’s donations to Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital was invested in offshore companies.

CM launches "Amanat Scheme" for promoting tax culture

LAHORE, April 10 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad
Shehbaz Sharif has formally launched unique and first of its
kind in Pakistan “Amanat Scheme” for promoting tax culture in the province.
In this regard, first balloting of “Amanat Scheme” was held under Restaurant Invoice Monitoring System (RIMS) arranged by Punjab Revenue Authority at Chief Minister Office, on Sunday.
Addressing the function held in connection with first balloting of “Amanat Scheme”, the chief minister said the government has introduced a unique “Amanat Scheme” to promote tax culture. He said lunching of this scheme on Tax Day is a beautiful step which will result in the promotion of tax culture in the province as maintenance of law and order, provision of basic amenities to the citizens and tax collection is the responsibility of the state.

Saad Rafique calls on Shehbaz Sharif

Khawaja Saad Rafiq met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that
China Pakistan Economic Corridor was a unprecedented gift of China to Pakistan and work was being carried out speedily on projects under CPEC across the country including Punjab.
He said Pakistan as well as the whole region would
get economic benefits from the projects of CPEC.

UN official hopes Yemeni warring parties abide by ceasefire set to begin Sunday

UNITED NATIONS, Apr 10 (APP): A senior United Nations relief official for Yemen has expressed hope that all parties to the conflict in that country abide by the ceasefire agreement set to go into effect at midnight tonight, noting that only a political solution can bring the lasting peace Yemenis deserve and are demanding.
“I am encouraged by the prospect of a cessation of hostilities set to start on 10 April. If respected, the agreement will provide men, women and children in Yemen a much needed respite from the increased violence they have been facing, on a daily basis, for over a year now,” Humanitarian Coordinator Jamie Mcgoldrick said in a statement.
Large-scale relief operations are already under way in Yemen, the UN said. During this period, it added, humanitarians will continue doing their best to deliver assistance to those in need and negotiate sustained access to hard-to-reach areas.

UN-chartered plane drops 20 tons of food on besieged Syrian city of Deir Ezzor

UNITED NATIONS, Apr 10 (APP): In a boost to international humanitarian efforts in Syria, the U.N. World Food Programme (WFP) Sunday delivered aid by air for hungry people trapped in the besieged eastern Syrian city of Deir Ezzor, an area controlled by Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL/Da’esh).
It was the first time that WFP food assistance has reached besieged parts of the city since March 2014.
A total of 20 metric tons of urgently needed food supplies ‘mainly beans, chickpeas and rice, and enough to feed 2,500 people for one month’ were dropped from high altitude by a WFP-chartered aircraft, the agency said in a press release.

Rabbani felicitates nation on Constitutional Day

Kashmir dispute contributed to 'jihadi' sentiments in region: Ambassador Jilani

PHILADELPHIA, April 9 (APP) Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States Jalil Abbas Jilani has observed that Jammu and Kashmir dispute has aggravated militant and jihadi sentiments in the South Asian region and called upon the international community to play an assertive role for the peaceful resolution of the lingering dispute between Pakistan and India.
Speaking to a conference organized by US Commander Special Operations in the city of Philadelphia, the ambassador asked the international community to view the rise of extremism worldwide from the perspective of inter-state and intra-state conflicts.
“The international discriminatory regime, political and economic injustices, unresolved international political disputes are fueling the dangerous ideologies and prompting violent responses by non-state actors, the ambassador said.

Isolated rain-thunderstorm with gusty winds expected

ISLAMABAD, Apr 10 (APP): Rain-thundershower with gusty winds and hailstorm is expected at isolated places in Malakand, Hazara divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir in next 24 hours.
While dry weather to prevail in other parts of the country.
A western disturbance is affecting upper and Central parts of the country  and likely to persist till Monday, said an official of Met office.
More rains may trigger further Landslides in Malakand, Hazara divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

victorious in the net event category.
Meanwhile, Ghanzanfer Mehmood won the gross event of the championship as he thwarted the challenge posed by Taimoor Khan, who finished as runner-up.

Badar Munir guides Pakistan blind to series win against Sri Lanka

ISLAMABAD, Apr 10 (APP): Badar Munir hit a blazing unbeaten double century to guide Pakistan blind team to a seven wicket remarkable win against Sri Lanka in the third One-Day International match at LCCA Cricket Ground Lahore.
The win also gave Pakistan a white-clean in the three-match series. Pakistan won the toss and decided to field first. Muhammad Ayyaz led the team as captain Muhammad Jamil could not due to injury.
Sri Lankan openers provided a solid start to their team as their first  wicket fell at the score of 165 runs when Suranga Sampath was caught by Badar Munir on the bowling of Sajid Nawaz. He made 83 runs.
