ECC approves five different proposals relating to energy sector

ISLAMABAD, Apr 11 (APP):The Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet (ECC) in its meeting chaired by Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar here on Monday considered and approved five different proposals relating to the energy sector.

The ECC considered the proposal for Implementation of North South Gas Pipeline Project under Government to Government Agreement with Russia and approved it, said in a statement issued by Ministry of Finance here.

ECC also constituted a price negotiation committee consisting of Secretary P/NR, Secretary Law, Secretary BoI, Representative of Finance Division, MD SNGPL and MD ISGS to negotiate the project details and pricing with the Russian side.

NA speaker receives Turkish Parliamentary delegation

Opportunities for QIA to invest in Pakistan: Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD, Apr 11 (APP): Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has said there were good opportunities for Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) to come to the fore and have its share of investment in Pakistan.

The Finance Minister said this while meeting with a delegation
of Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) led by Sheikh Abdulaziz Bin Ali Thani, Acting Head of Business Development Department of QIA here Monday.

Finance Minister briefed the delegation about investment
opportunities in Pakistan and shared with them details of various options that the QIA could follow to forge cooperation with GoP for undertaking investment, said in statement issued by Minister of Finance.

Irfan Siddiqui directs devising implementation plans of Urdu

ISLAMABAD, Apr 11 (APP): Advisor to Prime Minister on National History and Literary Heritage Irfan Siddiqui on Monday directed senior officials of his ministry to devise proper plans for implementation of Urdu as official language.

In this regard, a meeting was held here at ministry, presided over by the Advisor to Prime Minister.

It was decided in meeting that all possible facilities would be provided to all the divisions and ministries for implementation of Urdu.

Ambassador Olson calls on COAS

RAWALPINDI Apr 11 (APP): The US Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan (USSRPA) Ambassador Richard G. Olson, called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif, at General Headquarters on Monday.

During the meeting overall regional security situation with particular reference to situation in Afghanistan came under discussion, Inter Services Public Relations here stated.

Ambassador appreciated the efforts of Pakistan in fight against terrorism.

Conducive environment for foreign investment in Pakistan: Ahsan Iqbal

OKARA, Apr 11 (APP): Federal Minister for Planning
and Development, Ahsan Iqbal said on Monday that there was a conducive environment of foreign investment in the country due to prudent polices of the government.

He stated this while inaugurating a library project
completed at Rs 500 million at University of Education in Renala Khurd near here.

He urged the youth to play their role in the development
and prosperity of the country. He said the government was providing equal rights to women in all sectors to enable them to play their due role in national development.

NDMA asks PAF to carry out aerial survey for damages evaluation

ISLAMABAD, Apr 11 (APP): National Disaster Management
Authority (NDMA) has urged Pakistan Air Force (PAF to carry
out aerial photography/survey to evaluate damages to the
infrastructure and slope stability of mountains in Gilgit Baltistan and Khyber Pakthunkhwa.

SUPARCO has been asked to provide satellite imageries
to analyze the extent of damages, if any, in GB and KP.
The request had been made in an emergency meeting held
at NDMA to scientifically and technically examine the escalated seismic activity of Hindu Kush Range.

Quality of governance at federal level improved: PILDAT

ISLAMABAD April 11 (APP): An assessment report released
by Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT) Monday pointed out that Pakistan Muslim League (N) led government had improved good governance at federal level.

During the survey, the federal government received a
score of 44% and out of 27 governance assessment parameters assessed, it had shown improvement in performance in 18 parameters and deterioration in 9 parameters, said a press release.

It said the government has emerged strongest in its
Foreign Policy Management.

YDC biggest forum of youth mobilization in Pakistan under Vision 2025: Ahsan Iqbal

Development Corps (YDC) has emerged the biggest forum of youth mobilization in the country under Vision 2025.

He said youth has immense potential to become brand

Ahsan Iqbal made these remarks at formal inauguration
of Young Development Corps (YDC) chapter and inauguration of Library Centre at Okara Campus of University of Education.

PIA converted into public limited company, joint sitting passes Bill

ISLAMABAD, April 11 (APP): The Joint setting of the Parliament Monday passed a much awaited bill to convert PIA into a public limited company (The Pakistan International Airlines Corporation (conversion) Bill,2016 with some amendments unanimously.

Minister for Law and Justice Zahid Hamid moved the PIA (conversion) Bill, 2016 in the House.

The main purpose of converting PIA into a limited company is to attract strategic partners and to provide quality of services to the people of Pakistan.
