NDMA sends relief goods for GB landslide victims

ISLAMABAD, April 12 (APP): National Dissater Management Authority (NDMA) in coordination with the GB government and assistance of Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Tuesday sent relief goods to Gilgit Baltistan (GB) via C 130 carrying 8 tons of wheat flour and 480 kg of milk powder (for children) to meet food shortage.

According to an NDMA press release, the second C 130 sortie carrying 7.5 tons of ration (including lentils, sugar and Rice) would depart for the GB on Wednesday.

The NDMA said more sorties carrying ration would be planned for the GB till the situation normalized there.

Pakistan to be made Asian Tiger: Ahsan Iqbal

LAHORE, April 12 (APP): Federal Minister for Planning
Development and Reforms, Ahsan Iqbal on Tuesday said the
government was committed to make Pakistan an ‘Asian Tiger’ and one of the 10 major economies of the world.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of Cluster Centers
in connection with the Vision 2025 at Punjab University,
he said that Pakistan was making progress with every
passing day, adding the biggest power of the country
was the youth.

The minister said that youth especially students were
playing an important role in the progress of the country.
He said that Pakistan had achieved development targets
in three years under the PML N government which the country could not achieve in the last 15 years.

NA sub committee seeks PBA briefing on code of conduct, fake ratings

ISLAMABAD, Apr 12 (APP): Sub committee of National Assembly Standing Committee on Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Tuesday sought a briefing in its next meeting from Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) about code of conduct and distribution of money on basis of fake television ratings.

The meeting of the sub committee was chaired by Convenor Imran Zafar Leghari here at Parliament House.
MNAs Daniyal Aziz, Talal Chaudhry, Mariyam Aurangzeb, Amir Dogar, Chairman PEMRA Absar Alam, Additional Secretary Ministry of Information Saba Mohsin, DG IP Wing Nasir Jamal, Director PBA Jawad Hamid Raja and Brigadier Anwaar Ahmed of ISPR attended the meeting.

PBA official told the committee that it had informed the Supreme Court about reservations about the code of conduct for electronic media and it was in favour of self regulatory mechanism.

Rs 2105 billion collected during last 9 months: Senate Committee told

ISLAMABAD, Apr 12 (APP): Senate Standing Committee on Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs here on Tuesday was informed that about Rs 2105 billion revenue was collected during last nine moths of current fiscal year (2015 16).

The committee which met here with Senator Saleem H. Mandivawla in chair was also apprised that every individual tax payer was paying average Rs 18,000 tax.

It was also informed that about one million filers were filing their returns and Federal Board of Revenue was making all out efforts for broadening the tax base.

Ahsan for continuity of policies

LAHORE, Apr 12 (APP): Federal Minister for Planning
Development and Reforms, Ahsan Iqbal on Tuesday said that
continuity of policies was imperative for sustainable
progress of the country.

Talking to the media here at National College of Arts
(NCA), he said that opposition parties were hostile to the
government and did not want it to complete its constitutional
tenure.

To a question, he said it was necessary to give democracy
a chance as uncertainty and anti democracy steps weaken countries democratically and economically.

Ayaz stresses need for enduring Pak-Turkey partnership

SECP registers 4,355 new companies in first nine months of current FY

ISLAMABAD, April 12 (APP): During the first nine months of current fiscal year (2015 16), Securities Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) registered 4,355 new companies.

“As compared to the corresponding period last year, it represents a growth of 21 percent,” a statement issued by the Commission here said.

The SECP statement further said that it is a clear sign of confidence by investors and a growing trend in company registration.

Parliamentarians laud Pak-Turkish friendship, Turkish delegation given warm welcome

ISLAMABAD, Jan 12 (APP): The treasury and opposition benches on Tuesday warmly welcomed the Turkish delegation of Grand National Assembly on visiting National Assembly to witness proceeding of the house.

Deputy Speaker, who was in the chair on Tuesday welcomed the visiting Turkish parliamentary delegation headed by Speaker Grand National Assembly Ismail Kahraman.

He said that relations between the two-brotherly countries had entered in new ear of confidence and cooperation and parliamentarian’s visit would further strengthen ties between the two countries.
