No plan to shift secretariat of COMSTECH general assembly: Senate told
ISLAMABAD, Nov 6 (APP): Minister for Science and Technology Rana
Tanveer on Friday dismissed the impression that secretariat of COMSTECH
General Assembly was being shifted from Islamabad to some other country.
Responding to a calling attention notice regarding postponement of the
OCI summit on Science and Technology with was scheduled to be held in
Islamabad from November 9-11, he said the moot and 15th Session of
COMSTECH General Assembly was postponed due to security reason.
He said the new date for the Summit would be announced after
consultation with the quarters concerned soon.
The Minister informed the House that all arrangements were finalized
to hold the summit in which participation of five Presidents of
different countries along with 3,000 delegates and media men was
expected.He said no country in the world can make progress without focusing on
science technology.Later on public importance point, Opposition Leader Aitzaz Ahsan
suggested to arrange a special sitting to discuss increasing
population issue in the country.Mushahid Hussain Syed and Mushahidullah Khan appreciated intelligentsia and film actors of India for voicing concerns against
Shiv Sena’s extremist attitude.
