Wing set up in Religious Ministry to verify Umra agreements

ISLAMABAD, Apr 9 (APP): The Ministry of Religious Affairs
and Interfaith Harmony has established a separate wing to verify Umra agreements inked between Zaireen and Umra operators.

Spokesman Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith
Harmony Noor Zaman told APP that 600 companies have been registered with the ministry for conducting Umra operations.

He said the names of authorised Umra operators would soon be placed at its website for the information of general public.

Travel agent busted for swindling Pakistanis with fake Hajj packages

NEW YORK, Apr 8 (APP): A Pakistani American travel agent in Brooklyn scammed clients out of more than $350,000 by selling them fake Hajj and Umra travel packages, authorities said.

Junaid Mirza primarily ‘targeted’ Pakistani immigrants and other Muslims, authorities said, duping at least 25 people through a series of agencies he set up between July 2011 and Sept. 2015.

Mirza, 49, pleaded not guilty before Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Matthiew Sciarrino to a 31 count indictment, including first degree scheme to defraud, second degree money laundering, grand larceny and other charges.

All institutions on same page; country’s problems being dealt through joint strategy: President

ISLAMABAD, Apr 8 (APP): President Mamnoon Hussain Friday that for the first time in Pakistan’s history, all institutions were on same page regarding the problems confronting the country.

Addressing the Army officials undergoing training at the Command and Staff College, Quetta Cantonment at the Aiwan e Sadr, here, the President said all institutions were unanimously agreed that country’s problems were being dealt with through a joint strategy, which would make democracy even more stable.

Government believes in dignity of labour: PM

Sharif Friday said present government believed in the dignity
of labour and understood that a prosperous workforce could enable them to compete in a globalized market environment.

He said this in a meeting with Minister for Labour and
Human Resource Punjab Raja Ashfaq Sarwar who called on him at PM House.

Matters pertaining to the human resource development and
ongoing development work in different parts of the province were discussed during the meeting.

 

PML N to contest on all AJK LA seats in upcoming election: Pervaiz

ISLAMABAD, April 8 (APP): Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid Friday said Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz would not form any alliance in the upcoming Azad Kashmir election and field its candidates in all constituencies of the Legislative Assembly.

He was addressing a reception given at Darbar e
Aaliya Basahan Sharif by the Sajjada Nashin Pir Ali Raza Shah, who is also PML N Vice President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

The minister said hopefully PML N would win the upcoming
AJK election therefore it did not need to form any alliance or seat adjustment with other political parties.

PAF fleet carrying out relief, rescue operation for flood hit people of GB

ISLAMABAD Apr 08 (APP): Pakistan Air Force’s transport fleet continued the relief and evacuation operation for the flood affected people of Gilgit Baltistan (GB) on Friday.

According to Directorate of Public Relations Air, three C 130 aircraft landed at Gilgit airport carrying relief goods for the flood affected areas of GB.

On way back to PAF Base Nur Khan, the aircraft evacuated more than 300 people including 20 foreign tourists who were stranded in the area due to closure of Karakoram Highway.

PM for best cabin crew, catering services for PIA

ISLAMABAD, April 8 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Friday directed provision of best cabin crew and catering services for the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to achieve high service standards.

He was chairing a meeting on the affairs of Pakistan International Airlines that was attended by Minister for Finance Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Secretary Aviation Irfan Elahi, and senior officials.

The prime minister was briefed on the affairs of the airlines, particularly the steps related to human resource activity.

Prime Minister accepts resignation of Capt Shujaat Azeem

Sharif Friday accepted the resignation of Captain Shujaat
Azeem from the office of his Special Assistant on Aviation.

The Prime Minister took the step on the continued
request of Shujaat Azeem to accept the resignation that had been pending since December 2015, said a PM House statement.

Shujaat Azeem had been serving as Special Assistant to
PM on Aviation on an honorary basis without any remuneration since his appointment two years ago.

Not a single word mentioned in Panama papers against PM, family’s involvement in any illegal act: Pervaiz Rashid

ISLAMABAD, April 8 (APP): Minister for Information,
Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid Friday said not a single word was mentioned in Panama papers against the Prime Minister and his family’s involvement in any illegal act or harm to country’s economy and its democracy.

Participating in the debate, he said it was only Pakistan
Muslim League Nawaz (PML N) and its leadership who offered themselves for accountability on every occasion. The country’s religion, constitution and ethics allow business, he added.

Pervaiz Rashid said that it was a good addition to
parliamentary traditions that parliamentarians were discussing this issue in the parliament.

Ambassador Javed Malik meets Bahrain interior minister

ISLAMABAD, Apr 8 (APP): Ambassador of Pakistan in
Bahrain Javed Malik called on Interior Minister of the host
country Lt General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa and discussed bilateral ties and matters of mutual interests.

In a statement received here Friday, Ambassador Javed
Malik said that warm welcome of a Pakistani envoy at the
interior ministry of Bahrain manifested the strong bilateral ties.

Both the sides agreed to enhance cooperation between the
interior ministries of both the countries for what a joint framework would be devised between the high officials of the interior ministries from both sides.
