Pakistan, China economic ties also benefit region: Awais

ISLAMABAD, May 17 (APP): Pakistan and China have greatly expanded economic dimension of their relationship as China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a flagship initiative in this regard which would speed up economic cooperation and connectivity.

The political leadership-level interaction had increased which would of course further deepen this relationship, Chairman National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari said.

In an exclusive talk with APP in connection with anniversary of Pakistan and China diplomatic ties here on Tuesday, he said the friendship was all-weather and time-tested.

PM performs ground breaking of DI Khan-Hakla Motorway

D I KHAN, May 17 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif here on  Tuesday performed the ground breaking of Dera Ismail Khan-Hakla Motorway as part of the Western alignment of China Pakistan Economic Corridor.

The impressive ground-breaking ceremony of DI Khan-Halka Motorway that  was held Yarik area near D.I Khan under western corridor CPEC was attended besides others by JUIF Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, KP Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra Federal Minster for Housing, Opposition Leader in Khyber Pakthunkhwa Maulana Lutf ur Rehman and a large number of workers of PMLN and JUIF.

PML-N, JUI-F to make ‘real new Pakistan’ together: PM

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, May 17 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Tuesday said Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) together would make a “real new Pakistan”, while those engaged in politics of sit-ins were destined to continue so.

“A new, more sustainable partnership of PML-N and JUI-F is in the making, which will work together for the development of masses,” the Prime Minister said after performing the ground-breaking of 285-kilometre-long D.I.Khan to Hakla motorway.

The project is part of the western alignment of China Pakistan Economic Corridor.

NDU playing commendable role in imparting quality education: President

ISLAMABAD, May 17 (APP): President Mamnoon Hussain Tuesday said the National Defence University (NDU) was playing a commendable role in imparting quality education, training to both civilian and army officers and proposing defence strategies.

The President said this while talking to Lt Gen Nazir Ahmed Butt who
called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.

Underscoring the importance of acquiring modern education, President Mamnoon called for further raising the standard of higher education across the country.

Sports play important role for healthy society: CM

LAHORE, May 17(APP): Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that sports play an important role in setting up a healthy society.

The CM expressed these remarks while presiding over a high level meeting which held on Tuesday.

The meeting gave approval to a comprehensive programme of provision of modern sports facilities to the youth across the province.

ISLAMABAD, May 17 (APP): Chairperson Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Nuzhat Sadiq Tuesday said Pak-China relations had developed into a strong tree having deep roots, nurtured by generations of leadership of both the countries.

The all-weather ties between two countries were touching new heights during tenure of Prime Minister Muhammed Nawaz Sharif as numerous development projects, especially in energy sector were being carried out with cooperation of China in Pakistan.

In an exclusive talk with APP in connection with 67th anniversary of Pak-China diplomatic relations, she said the development work was being implemented under “one belt, one road” vision for promoting regional contacts.

Modern techs increasing internet penetration, improving lot of people: Anusha

ISLAMABAD, May 17 (APP): Minister for Information Technology, Anusha Rahman on Tuesday said introduction of mobile broadband has contributed a lot in connecting people and increased internet penetration in the country from mere 3 percent to 18 percent in a short period.

Availability of these technologies have resulted in speedy proliferation of broadband access both in urban and rural communities with a record achievement of more than 30 million subscribers in less than 2 years.

Challenges to Pakistan are challenges to China: Chinese Leadership

RAWALPINDI, May 17 (APP): Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Raheel Sharif during his visit to China held meetings with the Chinese civil and military leadership and discussed regional security and commonly confronted challenges.

Chinese leaders reaffirming their stance said “Challenges to Pakistan
are challenges to China”, the Tweet on COAS meetings with Chinese leadership, by Director General ISPR Lt. General Asim Bajwa here on Tuesday stated.

It said that COAS met Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang, Vice Chairman

Pakistan keen to expand trade,economic cooperation with Portugal: Ayaz

Initiative Coaching Camp concluded at Navy Physical training institute in Karachi.

Up to 40 players ( both Boys & girls) per day were exposed to the
basics of game of tennis by PTF/ STA appointed Coaches, Saeed Ahmed and Ebad Sarwar.

NPT&SC was the sponsor where as rackets, balls were provided free of
charge by PTF under its Junior initiative program and was organized by Sindh Tennis Association.
