Opposition should also listen to treasury benches response on Panama Leaks: Pervaiz

ISLAMABAD, May 18 (APP): Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid on Wednesday said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif remained in the House on Monday to listen to the opposition legislators’ speeches and today the Pakistan Muslim
League Nawaz leaders were also present in the House for that purpose.

Speaking in the National Assembly on a point of order, the minister expressed the hope that the opposition members would also remain in the House for listening to the treasury benches’ response.

He said that the opposition, after expressing their point of view in the House about the Panama Leaks, should also listen to response of the treasury benches.

ISLAMABAD, May 18 (APP): Finance Minister, Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar has said that the present government ever since assuming responsibilities has focused on reaching out to the most deserving segments of the population in undeserved areas.

He stated this during a meeting held with Vice President,
International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Michael Mordasini here the otherday.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Finance here said that
during the meeting Michael Mordasini apprised the Finance Minister about the current profile of IFAD projects in Pakistan and said that the organization with its fundamental aim to combat rural poverty by promoting rural development had come a long way since starting its operations in 1978.

Institutionalized accountability needed rather than looking towards 3rd umpire: Khawaja Asif

ISLAMABAD, May 18 (APP): Minister for Defence Khawaja
Muhammad Asif on Wednesday called for setting up an accountability institution which emanated from the Parliament House rather than looking towards a third umpire.

Taking part in the debate on PanamLeakes in the National Assembly, the Minister said, “We should not look towards others for accountability. We take power from this Parliament.”

He said the politician was a role model for people and young
generation adding that political differences should not be taken to such a level where coming generations were deprived of democratic system.

PM to administer Oath to members of GB Council

ISLAMABAD, May 18 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will administer Oath of office to the newly elected members of the Gilgit Baltistan Council on Thursday.

The Prime Minister will also perform the ground breaking
of Pakistan-China Optical Fiber Cable Project in Gilgit, which
is part of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

According to media section of the PM House, the Prime
Minister will also visit Swat on Friday May 20 for
inauguration of the Nawaz Sharif Kidney Hospital.

on 65th anniversary of Pak-China Diplomatic relations, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal said on Wednesday that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework would not only improve Pakistan’s economy but also strengthen its defence.

“The entire nation will have to play its role in the
implementation of this vital initiative by exhibiting a
complete unity and solidarity besides giving a message to the world that Pakistan has now become a economically vibrant and politically stable country,” he made these remarks in an interview with APP here.

Pakistan and Turkey to share experience in judicial training

ISLAMABAD, May 18 (APP): At the invitation of the Justice Academy of Turkey, a high level delegation comprising members of high judiciary from Pakistan visited Turkey from May 15 to 20.

The visit was aimed at sharing experiences on judicial systems of the two brotherly countries that would contribute to further promoting mutual cooperation in the field of judicial training.

Led by Chief Justice of the Federal Shariat Court, Justice Riaz Ahmad Khan, the Pakistan delegation included honourable judges and senior officials of the Federal Shariat Court, Sindh High Court, Balochistan High Court, Islamabad High Court, Federal Judicial Academy, Shariat Academy of
International Islamic University, Competition Appellate Tribunal, and Al Meezan Foundation.

Ministry fully cooperating in investigations against Cheema

ISLAMABAD, May 18 (APP): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been extending full cooperation to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in its investigations against director Shafqat Cheema.

In response to the media queries, the Spokesperson said on a reference by the Ministry, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was conducting investigations against director Shafqat Cheema for his alleged involvement in some unlawful activities.

After following due process, NAB had arrested the officer yesterday.

PLA Navy commander arrives on official visit

KARACHI, May. 18 (APP): Admiral Wu Shengli, Commander PLA (Navy) of China on an official visit to Pakistan arrived here on Wednesday.

Upon arrival at Pakistan Navy Fleet Headquarters, the dignitary was received by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah, a press release of the PN said here.

A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Navy clad in ceremonial dress presented him the Guard of Honour.

PM condemns twin IED blasts in Peshawar

ISLAMABAD, May 18 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Wednesday condemned two blasts in Peshawar.

The Prime Minister directed the concerned authorities to ensure special medical care of the injured.

A police official told APP in Peshawar that the blasts occurred with a gap of half an hour where two improvised explosive devices (IED) went off one after the other, injuring 17 people of whom one cop succumbed to his injuries at Lady Reading Hospital.
