Two civilians martyred, 4 injured in Indian firing on LoC

MIRPUR (AJK), Nov 22 (APP): Two civilians were martyred and four injured in unprovoked Indian firing at Line of Control (LoC) in Samani sector of Bhimbher district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.

According to Incharge Police Station Samani, the victims martyred belonged to Barho village, situated about 15 km from tehsil headquarter of Samani.

He told told APP on telephone that the martyred were identified as Attique, son of Manzoor Hussain and Tafoor, son of Muhammad Shabir while the injured included Sabahat (10) and Sabiha Arshad (13), daughters of Muhammad Arshad, Adnan Shabir, son of Muhammad Shabir, and Saad Muhammad, son of Faiz Muhammad.

The martyred were laid to rest in their ancestral graveyard.

Their funeral prayer was attended by a large number of people.

SECP clarifies regarding preparation of financial statements

ISLAMABAD, Nov 22 (APP): The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), vide its Circular No 36 of 2016, has issued clarification regarding preparation of financial statements by the companies, subsequent to the promulgation of the new Companies Ordinance, 2016.

The new ordinance was promulgated on November 11, 2016, which sets out new requirements with regard to the preparation of financial statements by the companies, a statement issued by the SECP here on Tuesday said.

The SECP has realized that the companies shall find it difficult to comply with the requirements of preparing the financial statements as under the new law, in such a short span of time.

Owing to the practical difficulty being faced by companies, the SECP has decided that all the companies whose financial year closes before December 31, 2016, shall prepare their financial statements in accordance with the provisions of the repealed Companies Ordinance, 1984.

The new requirements shall be applicable to the companies having their financial year closure on or after December 31, 2016. Circular No. 36 has been placed on the SECP’s website.

JETRO President extols Pakistan’s economic progress

ISLAMABAD, Nov 22 (APP): President Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Yasushi Akahoshi has written a latter to Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Finance in which he has acknowledged that the economic progress made by Pakistan provides confidence to Japanese companies for increased business collaboration.

Akahoshi appreciated the finance minister and the government
for pursuing economic policies which were geared towards “ensuring stable and strong economic prosperity” in Pakistan and expressed that JETRO is “fully committing all possible efforts toward deepening” the bilateral economic relationship, a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance here on Tuesday said.

President JETRO in his correspondence has further thanked the Finance
Minister for meeting the JETRO delegation which accorded a opportunity to discuss areas for more active economic cooperation between Pakistan and Japan.

Country Director JETRO, Osamu Hisaki while delivering the letter from
President JETRO said that JETRO was thankful to the finance minister, Board of Investment and Federal Board of Revenue for facilitating Japanese companies in doing business in Pakistan.

He said various issues faced by Japanese companies in Pakistan were getting rectified due to “swift responses by the authorities” and strong pro investment policy of the government, which has created confidence for other Japanese companies to invest in Pakistan.

Country Director JETRO informed that a business exhibition by Japanese  companies will soon be held in Karachi under the auspices of JETRO to promote future investment in Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD, Nov 22 (APP): The government has finalised a plan to carry out the census before March 2017 at present, the troops were involved in extensive engagements and census was not possible without the support of military.

Federal Minister for State and Frontier Regions Lt. General (Retd) Abdul Qadir Baloch assured the House while speaking on a resolution moved by Sheikh Salahuddin in the National Assembly regarding holding of census in the country.

The Minister said that the last census was also conducted by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and this time too it would hold.

A number of legislators on Tuesday said that the national census was important issue and urged the government to announce date for holding population census adopting a resolution in the National Assembly.

Sheikh Salahuddin mover of the resolution taking part in the debate said that the holding of national census was the need of the hour and it should be hel at the earliest.

He said that delimitation and fair distribution of funds among the federating units were based on the population count.

Naeema Kishwar, Ejaz Jakhrani, Phyllis Azeem, Muzammil Quershi and Shazia Marri said that the issue related to census should be discussed in the Parliament.

They said that after the census, all political forces should formulate a joint strategy to control the increasing population, which was one of the biggest challenge for the country.

They said that the government should conduct census as per previous practice, if the army was not available due to its engagements at borders and tackle terrorism.

All national issues should be resolved in Parliament: Tariq

ISLAMABAD, Nov 22 (APP): Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD), Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhary Tuesday said all national issues should be resolved in the Parliament.

Speaking in PTV programme, he said Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) had given a negative impression to Turkey by boycotting the joint session of the Parliament in which a famous leader of Muslim Ummah and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan addressed.

He said the government wanted to resolve all national issues in the Parliamentary.

He urged PTI to shun the politics of agitation and chaos and should concentrate on the development and welfare of the masses and the country.

Tariq Fazal said people were the best judge and they would caste their
votes in favour of those political parties in general elections 2018 which worked for their properity and the progress and uplift of the country.

Replying to a question, he said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had already presented himself and his family for the accountability on
Panama papers.

DGSE to get five new busses till next month: Tariq Fazal

ISLAMABAD, Nov 22 (APP): Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division Tariq Fazal Chaudhry Tuesday said five new busses would soon be handed over to Director General Special Education (DGSE) till December.

“Two busses would be handed over immediately to the DGSE while other two to three buses with special facilities for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) will be provided according to the requirement after few days”, the minister said.

The buses would be equipped with rams, for wheel chair students and other things helpful for the mobility of physically and mentally challenged students, the minister said.

He was addressing as chief guest at the Pakistan Bright Youth Summit 2016, organized by DGSE in collaboration with Bright Rays Foundation, titled, “Yes we Can”.

These buses would be given under the Prime Minister special initiative to improve the standard of academic institutions working under Federal Directorate of Education (FDE).

The minister stated that PWDs needs our attention not sympathies to prove their abilities and our responsibility is to give them support to overcome their challenges.

He informed that 200 FDE schools would be renovated with latest equipment, laboratories and other facilities to facilitate 5000 children of the federal capital.

Tariq Fazal lauded the success stories of PWDs and commented that they are source of information not only for themselves but also for us.

He shared their all out support is with PWDs in all walks of life and they would ensure that all facilities would be provided to their institutes at their earliest.

In the end the minister disseminated awards of appreciation among the students who showed outstanding performance in academic as well as co-curricular activities.

Pakistan pursuing motto of ‘arms for peace’ in region: PM

KARACHI, Nov 22 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on
Tuesday said Pakistan was against an arms race in the region, however would pursue the motto of ‘arms for peace’.

Addressing at the inauguration of four-day ninth International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) here, the Prime Minister said Pakistan was committed to discouraging arms race and promoting “the motto of arms for peace, which has always been the tagline of IDEAS”.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan had achieved self-reliance in defence production and mentioned that IDEAS-2016 was a demonstration
of collaboration of local and foreign technologies.

He said over 2,000 weapons system and equipment on display at the exhibition reflected broad-based participation of the country’s public and private sector in defence production, supported by research and development.

The Prime Minister said the country’s defence products were state-of-the-art and stood fully tested by its armed forces.

“Our defence products have made their mark in many countries of the world,” he said, adding there still existed many opportunities for further growth and exploration of new markets.

He said Pakistan was fast emerging producer of quality defence products.

“The promise of today’s Pakistan is brighter and reassuring than every before,” he said.

The Prime Minister invited foreign companies to expand their business linkages with Pakistan in the field of defence production.

He expressed Pakistan’s commitment for regional peace, saying that “we will explore the way forward for peace and stability in the world in general and our region in particular”.

Nawaz Sharif said the environment for foreign investment was encouraging in the country in view of improved law and order situation, besides power projects being completed on time.

He congratulated the organizers of sideline conferences during IDEAS 2016, which he said would facilitate exchanging technologies for mutual benefits and bringing together buyers and sellers – one of the core objectives of the country’s defence exhibitions.

Later, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the exhibition, flanked by Defence Minister Khwaja Asif, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Mohammad Zakaullah and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman.

The Prime Minister also visited the stalls of the IDEAS exhibition where major indigenously developed products have been showcased including battle tank Al-Khalid, JF-17 Thunder, Super Mushshak and K-8 aircraft, Fast Attack Craft Missile boats, armoured personnel carriers and military hardware.

The Prime Minister was apprised that defence industries of Turkey, China, Russia, North America, South America, Europe and Asia had a significant presence at IDEAS 2016, while nine more countries were participating this time including Belarus, Poland, Czech Republic, Belgium, Luxembourg, Denmark, Switzerland, Romania and Nigeria.

Thirty-four countries and a total of 418 companies are participating in IDEAS 2016, including 261 foreign and 157 Pakistani companies.
The exhibition will continue till November 25.

Three FC men martyred in roadside blast

IED bomb targeting CTD vehicle, injures four persons in city

PESHAWAR, Nov 22 (APP): At least three FC personnel embraced
martyrdom and three others injured when a roadside blast occurred near their vehicle here in Bashirabad area on Tuesday.

SSP Operations Ejaz Khan told media persons that FC  personnel were on routine patrol near Bashirabad when their vehicle was targeted with a remote controlled explosive device.

As a result, three FC personnel embraced martyrdom  while three others sustained injuries. He said the bodies and injured were shifted to CMH. The FC men were the target of the blast.

PM condemns attack on FC personnel in Peshawar

ISLAMABAD, Nov 22 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Tuesday strongly condemned terrorist attack on FC personnel in Peshawar and expressed deep grief over the loss of valuable lives.

“These cowardly attacks cannot shatter our unflinching resolve to eliminate terrorism and extremism from our motherland,” a statement from the PM House, while quoting the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister prayed to Almighty Allah to bless the departed souls with eternal peace and grant of courage to the bereaved families to bear their irreparable loss with fortitude.

The Prime Minister prayed for swift recovery of those injured during the attack.

CM monitors security arrangements for Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA)

LAHORE, Nov 21 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif supervised the security arrangements  for protection of life and property of people of the province  on the occasion of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).

He also issued necessary instructions in this regard and remained in constant contact with cabinet committee on law & order and central control room.

On the special instructions of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, a comprehensive security plan was evolved for Majalis and processions in connection with Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), and foolproof security arrangements were made throughout the province.

Cabinet committee on law & order also monitored security measures and security agencies remained fully alert till conclusion of processions and Majalis.
