ISLAMABAD, Nov 19 (APP): Pakistan High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Syed Ibne Abbas has inaugurated an art exhibition at
the Gabriel Fine Arts gallery in London.
Unity in Variety VI art exhibition was put together by Barikee—Islamic and Pakistani Fine Art Gallery—in collaboration with Gabriel Fine Arts, Bernardo and World Congress of Overseas Pakistanis (WCOP), said a message received here Saturday.
In his address, the High Commissioner said exhibition of the work of contemporary artists from Pakistan was a great effort to promote the country’s rich cultural heritage and vibrant art.
The exhibition comprised a series of shows which brought together artists from across the globe.
It featured eight contemporary Islamic and Pakistani artists including Bin Qulander, Sadaf Farasat and Siddiqa Juma alongside artists from several other countries.
Ibne Abbas expressed his delight to note that the exhibition focused on the commonalities among different cultures through the medium of art and brought together artists from different parts of the world.
The High Commissioner appreciated the efforts of the organizers for promoting artistic side of Pakistan.

Problems of cable operators reviewed
LAHORE, Nov 19 (APP): Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA)
Chairman Mian Amer Mehmood and Cable Operators Association President Khalid Arain on Saturday thanked the Federal Minister for Finance, Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar for listening their problems and gave assurance to resolve them.
Federal Minister for Finance, Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar on Saturday presided over the meeting of the cable operators at 90 Shahrah e Quaid i Azam. The meeting in detailed reviewed the problems facing the cable operators.
Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Chairman
Absar Alam told the meeting that PEMRA had always tried to solve the problems of cable operators.
On issues related to Direct to Home (DTH) a committee was formed
in which four members of PEMRA, four of PBA and four of cable operators would sit together and discuss the problems in detail and would come up with the recommendations in a meeting tomorrow (Sunday) that would be presided over by Federal Finance Minister.
There was consensus in the meeting that complete ban on Indian channels should maintain.
Additional Finance Secretary Tariq Pasha and others attended the
meeting.
President undergoes `routine medical checkup’ at AFIC
ISLAMABAD, Nov 19 (APP): President Mamnoon Hussain Saturday
visited the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) in Rawalpindi for
medical checkup where he also underwent some medical tests.
“It was a routine medical checkup. All of his medical reports
were found clear,” said a President House statement.
Exhibition displaying works of 80 young artists opened at PNCA
ISLAMABAD, Nov 19 (APP): An exhibition of contemporary
Pakistani art was opened here at Pakistan National Council of
Arts to display the works of 80 young artists from across Pakistan.
American Ambassador in Pakistan David Hale and Director
General Pakistan National Council of the Arts Syed Jamal Shah opened
the exhibition on Friday night, said a press release.
The exhibit, titled “Open Field,” was funded by the American
Embassy.
“This exhibit shows the vitality of the Pakistani arts
community and its ability to conserve and reflect its rich creative
heritage while inventing new forms of expression for today,” said
Ambassador Hale.
The exhibit, which was organized by the Kuch Khaas Center for
Arts, Culture, and Dialogue, will remain on display at PNCA for two
months.
“The artwork on display in `Open Field’ is representative of
the ways in which artists, operating fully within art-world
conventions, have begun to ask new questions and to open up spaces
for the formation of new processes,” said exhibit curator Aasim
Akhtar.
One sign of the vitality of the Pakistani arts community is
its ability to conserve its great creative heritage while inventing
new forms of expression for today.
The American Embassy spends over 100 million rupees annually
to fund arts programming in Pakistan, introducing Pakistanis and
Americans to each other’s artistic traditions.
AJK President urges int’l community to help resolve Kashmir issue
LAHORE, Nov 19 (APP): Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K) President
Sardar Masood Khan said Pakistan and Kashmir were co related
and Pakistan was incomplete without complete Kashmir.
He expressed these views while addressing a meet the Press at
Lahore press club here Saturday.
Sardar Masood urged the international community to play its role
to end the rights abuses and resolve the issue according to the UN resolutions on Kashmir.
He said India was committing genocide in occupied Kashmir to suppress
the freedom movement of Kashmiries.
The AJK president said Kashmiri people were determined that they would never surrender on Kashmir issue, adding there was no terrorist in the held Kashmir and unarmed Kashmiris were struggling for their freedom.
Air Chief urges students to explore new horizons of knowledge
MULTAN, Nov 19 (APP): Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman Saturday urged students to explore new horizons of knowledge and learning through wide reading and intellectual pursuits to contribute in the socio economic development of the country in a meaningful manner.
Addressing the first convocation ceremony of the Air University Multan Campus as a chief guest, the Air Chief stressed the graduating students to become a useful and productive citizens of the country.
The Chief of the Air Staff, who is also Chairman Board of Governors of the Air University, said, “Your parents have rendered innumerable sacrifices for providing you quality education so always honour your parents through your exemplary conduct and hard work.”
Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Faaiz Amir, Vice Chancellor of the Air University, was also present at the occasion. The chief guest awarded medals and degrees amongst 290 successful graduates in the faculty of Management and Computer Sciences.
Highlighting the contributions of Pakistan Air Force towards nation building, the Air Chief said, “PAF has established various academic and vocational institutions across the country, especially in the under privileged areas.
“The establishment of Air University Campus in Multan in 2011 was a step in the same direction, and I am glad to share that the construction of the new campus site will soon be launched.”
He said, “Today our nation faces numerous challenges but the armed forces of Pakistan together with the support of the nation will overcome all these challenges.”
He said the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), in synergy with sister services, had played a key role in the success of Operation Zarb e Azb and would continue to come up to the expectations of the nation in future as well.
Earlier, Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Faaiz Amir, Vice Chancellor
of the Air University, in his welcome address thanked the PAF for their continual support towards the new campus of the university.
Air University Multan Campus (AUMC) was established in 2011 with a focus to provide the quality education to the masses of South Punjab.
Currently, over 750 students are enrolled at AUMC in different degree programmes at bachelor and master levels. AUMC has diverse faculty, enriched with great pedagogical experience including 50 percent PhD degree holders from reputed national and international varsities.
Price for Gwadar LNG terminal being negotiated: Ministry
ISLAMABAD, Nov 19 (APP): The Price Negotiation Committee (PNC)
is in the process to finalize the cost for establishment of a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal at the Gwadar deep seaport with the China Petroleum Pipeline (CPP).
“PNC has held several meetings with CPP to negotiate price the for
LNG terminal. The final round of price negotiations is expected soon
whereafter the recommendations of the PNC will be submitted to the
Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet for approval,”
official sources in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources told APP.
They said the PNC, constituted by the ECC, comprised Secretaries
Ministries of Petroleum and Natural Resources, Finance, Law Division, Board of Investment or his nominee, Managing Directors of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited and Inter State Gas Systems.
The sources informed that PNC and CPP, a Chinese company, also
held several meetings to negotiate the contract price for laying a 42-inch diameter pipeline from Gwadar to Nawab Shah, which would have the capacity to handle up to 500 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) of
gas.
They said final recommendations of the PNC had been prepared and
were being submitted to ECC for approval, adding that PC-I for the 700-kilometer gas pipeline had already been approved by the Central
Development Working Party (CDWP) and Executive Committee of the
National Economic Council (ECNEC).
Enemies of Pakistan working against CPEC:Ayaz Sadiq
LAHORE, Nov 19 (APP): National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq Saturday said the enemies of Pakistan were working hard to fail China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Addressing a seminar jointly organised by the Lahore Chamber of
Commerce (LCCI) and Pakistan Federation Union of Journalists (PFUJ)
here at the LCCI auditorium, the NA Speaker said the CPEC project
would bring economic prosperity in the region.
He said India was consciously violating Line of Control (LoC) and Working Boundary in a bid to divert attention from its atrocities
in occupied Kashmir.
He said all the departments were working hard to strengthen national security and democracy and hoped that Pakistan would be economically a developed country by 2018.
He asked the media to play its role for the development of the country as it was the prime objective of every citizen.
Appreciating the role of journalist organisations, he said journalists were the front men who had played a great role for the country’s development .
He said that there should be life insurance of journalists as no one take care of families of journalists after their deaths.
Senior journalists Zia Shahid, Arif Nizami, Salman Ghani, former federal minister Qamar Zaman Kaira, LCCI President Abdul Basit and others also addressed the seminar.
CPEC to change destiny of entire region: Ameer Muqam
PESHAWAR, Nov 19 (APP): Advisor to Prime Minister, Engr. Ameer Muqam has said that acceptance of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Chief Minister regarding importance of CPEC is welcoming as the project would change the destiny of entire region.
He expressed these views while talking to media persons in Shangla on Saturday. He said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is an integral element of CPEC and western rout is a part of the corridor.
He said that Federal Minister for Planning and Development, Ahsan Iqbal has also assured KP CM KP that western rout is a part of CPEC that after completion would usher our entire region into a new phase of prosperity and development.
On the occasion, he informed that establishment of two news Grid Stations of Besham Shang and Puran Makhozai Martoong would resolve the issue of low voltage permanent basis.
He said that 30 km transmission line from Besham to Kotki Grid Station has also been sanctioned.
AJK PM thanks Turkish President for supporting Kashmiri’s struggle for freedom
MIRPUR (AJK), Nov 19 (APP): Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister, Raja Farooq Haider has extended gratitude to the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, for expressing his country’s support to the freedom movement of Kashmiris against illegal occupation of India.
He said Prime Minister Nawaz sharif played a significant role in promoting Kashmir cause on international level.
While talking to public representative delegations late Friday the AJK Premier called upon India to immediately stop killings in occupied Kashmir.
He strongly condemned the Indian aggression on the Line of Control and described it as an attempt to divert the attention of the Indian civil society and international community from the brutalities being committed by Indian forces in the territory.
He said that for the past nearly four months India had crossed all the limits of human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that India should quit Kashmir at the earliest and withdraw its troops from the occupied Kashmir.
Prime Minister Raja Farooq said that the sacrifices of Kashmiri people would not go waste, adding that the liberation movement would be taken to its logical conclusion at all cost.
