President’s spokesman contradicts news item

ISLAMABAD, Apr 22 (APP): The spokesperson to the President
Friday declared baseless and erroneous the reports in which it had
been alleged that more than 1500 employees were working at Aiwan e
Sadr.

In a statement, the spokesperson said in this regard, reports
appearing in different newspapers and magazines were factually false.

He said that the total strength of employees in public and
personal Secretariat was 823. The strength of employees of Grade 1 to 4 was in excess but since their remuneration was very low therefore they were not dismissed from service but instead their services were being utilized in sections where there was a shortage of employees, he added.

ISLAMABAD, April 22 (APP): President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Friday expressed the resolve that the government would not be distracted from its agenda of progress and vowed to vigorously complete development projects in the country.

The two leaders “called upon all to cooperate with the government in completing development agenda and maintain stability in the country,” a press release from the Presidency said.

“The Government has ensured transparency and judicious use of public money while implementing various development projects and has followed zero tolerance policy for corruption,” the press release said.

ISLAMABAD, Apr 22 (APP): American band Grupo Fantasma wishes to produce some valuable collaborative music with Pakistani musicians to present music traditions of both the countries.

This was expressed by the members of The Grupo Fatasma band while talking to APP on Friday.

These days Grupo Fantasma is on a visit to Pakistan and organizing music concerts in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore.

ISLAMABAD, Apr 22 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Friday said Balochistan would reap the highest benefits from the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.

Talking to Chief Minister Balochistan Sardar Sanaullah Khan Zehri who called on him here at the PM House, the Prime Minister said the province was close to his heart and he was personally monitoring pace of the ongoing projects and schemes in the province.

The Prime Minister said the present government was proactively pursuing the agenda of progress and development across the country and socio-economic uplift of the people of Balochistan was its top priority.

National Savings collected Rs.192 bln by March

ISLAMABAD, April 22 (APP): The Central Directorate of National Savings (CDNS) collected Rs 192 billion against the proportionate target of Rs.228 billion by March 31, during the current fiscal year (2015-16), a CDNS official said on Friday.

The official said that the estimated target of the national savings for the year 2015-16 had been set at Rs 304 billion.

Likewise, he said during the first quarter of the current fiscal year,the CDNC collected Rs 82 billion against the proportionate target of Rs 66 billion.

ISLAMABAD, April 22 (APP): Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid on Friday inaugurated “one belt, one road”, a photo exhibition on Muslim customs in National University of Modern Languages (NUML) here.

The exhibition was arranged by the Embassy of Peoples Republic of China, Ningxia Islamic Friendly Council and NUML.

Chinese charged d’affaires Zhao Lijian and Head of Ningxia Islamic Council Hei Liangji were also present on the occasion.

ISLAMABAD, Apr 22 (APP): Minister for Interior, Chaudhary  Nisar Ali Khan on Friday directed Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration to make elaborate security and traffic plan for public meeting of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday (April 24).

In a statement issued here, he said it should be assured that citizens of Islamabad face no inconvenience during their daily routine because of public meeting.

He further directed, besides sharing traffic plan with PTI leaders, it should also be disseminated through media.

NAB recovers Rs. 71 billion in last ten years: Senate told

ISLAMABAD, Apr 22 (APP): The Senate was apprised on Friday that National Accountability Bureau has recovered Rs. 71.220 billion during the last ten years.

Ministry of Law & Justice in a written reply to a question of Senator Talha Mahmood says that amount recovered on account of corruption and corrupt practices is Rs 25.815 billion, amount recovered on account of bank default is Rs. 6.887 billion and court fine imposed in NAB cases is Rs.23.003 billion.

All the recovered amount is surrendered to the Federal Consolidated Fund. Certain approved percentage of recovery is provided to NAB under the Para (4) of Recovery and Reward (Fund) Rules and the major portion is utilized for budgetary support requirements.

Delegation to visit Iran in May for talks

ISLAMABAD, April 22 (APP): The Senate was informed on Friday that Pakistani delegation would visit Iran in May for holding talks on Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project.

Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources in a written reply to the question of Senator Najma Hamid says that the project is being pursued for implementation and on recent visit of President of Iran to Pakistan on 26-27 March, 2016 the project also came under discussion.

The contractual volume of gas to be received from Iran is 750 MMdfd.
