PESHAWAR, Dec 19 (APP): The security forces will establish four more border crossing points on the pattern of Torkhum in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) as part of the border management to regulate and document the movement of vehicles and people between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
According to security sources, the Torkhum crossing point was operationalized on July 1, 2016 despite strong pressure from the Afghan government. The border management policy would continue and made more stringent to regulate the flow of people across the border.
“We will not allow anyone to enter Pakistan from Afghanistan without valid travel documents,” the sources said.
Under the border management plan, terminal points would be set up in Khurlachi in Kurram Agency, Ghulam Khan in North Waziristan, Angor Adda in North Waziristan and Gursal in Mohmand Agency.
The security forces have conducted three big operations in FATA, namely Khyber-3, Operation Michni and Operation Brekhna.

The security sources said in the wake of rising terrorist incidents in Mohmand Agency, the Operation Brekhna was launched and it was still continuing successfully. It was expected to complete during next month.
The presence of large number of sympathizers and facilitators in the north of Mohmand Agency warranted an immediate operation there.
The terrorist outfits across the border were being supported by Jamatul Ahrar and TTS, the sources said.
The security forces have improved border control by fortifying existing border posts in the tribal areas, the sources said, adding that over 100 border posts were located in extremely difficult terrain.
The forces conducted 1942 intelligence based and combing operations
in the first half, and 2667 operations in the second half of the current year.
The security sources said 92 per cent voluntary repatriation of the temporary displaced people (TDP) had been completed in tribal areas following successful operations against the banned outfits whose leadership had fled to Afghanistan.
The security forces have completed over 500 projects in various sectors including education, health, communication, agriculture and clean drinking water before start of the TDP return programme. The owners have been paid Rs 400,000 for fully destroyed and Rs 160,000 for partially damaged houses.
The sources said over 100 mosques in different parts of the tribal areas had been renovated, besides the construction of Yunas Khan Sports Complex having capacity of over 5,000 spectators. Meanwhile, the construction of a similar type of Shahid Khan Afridi Sports Complex in Khyber Agency was underway.

UN-backed $547 million appeal launched for humanitarian needs in Occupied Palestinian Territory
UNITED NATIONS, Dec 19 (APP): The United Nations and the State of
Palestine Monday jointly launched an appeal seeking $547 million in funding for 2017 to support the humanitarian needs in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
“International support is critical to continue providing relief to vulnerable Palestinians,” the UN Coordinator for Humanitarian Aid and Development Activities, Robert Piper, said in a joint statement with the Minister of Social Development of the State of Palestine, Ibrahim AlShaer, and issued by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
“But we are just trying to buy time. This humanitarian response must be coupled with bold political action to bring the world’s most protracted protection crisis to a close,” Piper added.
The plan seeks $547 million in donor funding to implement 243 projects
by 95 organizations, including 47 national and 35 international non-governmental organizations, and 13 UN agencies. Nearly 70 per cent of the requested funds target Gaza, where humanitarian needs are highest due to the blockade and recurrent hostilities, further exacerbated by the impact of internal Palestinian divisions.
According to humanitarian assessments, some 1.8 million people are in
high need of protection in the occupied Palestinian territory and 1.6 million people are moderately to severely food insecure. In Gaza, over 50,000 people remain displaced from the 2014 hostilities, while 8,000 people in the West Bank are at high risk of forcible transfer due to a coercive environment.
Throughout the Occupied Palestinian Territory, hundreds of thousands of people still have restricted access to essential services.
“This humanitarian funding appeal seeks to give a hand to the most
vulnerable, the worst affected amongst Palestinian households across the whole occupied territory,” Piper said.

Creating fuss in yet another back out from commitment
ISLAMABAD, Dec 19 (APP): National Assembly on Monday once again witnessed a short lived rumpus with an effort by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to play up the Panama papers issue and disrupt smooth proceedings of the lower house.
The party backed out, as usual, from its commitment made during a meeting at Speaker’s chamber that members from both the side of the isle shall speak on this issue. But, the situation turned to be foul as the PTI members started chanting slogans when a member from treasury benches Daniyal Aziz was given mike to speak.
They stood at their seats and started chanting slogans against the PML-N leadership on which Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq reminded them of their commitment made in presence of the members from PPPP, MQM and PML-N at Speaker’s chamber.
The Speaker reminded PTI Parliamentary Leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi about his commitment that members from treasury benches would also respond to speeches of Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed and Shah Mahmood Qureshi. “You have backed out from commitment. This is not fair,” the Speaker commented during the proceedings.
Then the Speaker also drew attention of Opposition leader Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah towards the decision who in response said, if it had already been decided, the House must be run according to the decision.
Seeing the situation, Shah Mahmood Qureshi acknowledged the words of the Speaker and said, the slogans by his party were not meant to disrupt the proceedings because it would do no good to the House. Qureshi kept silence earlier when his party members were creating fuss in the house but realized sooner and said, “I request my members to give treasury benches an opportunity to speak.”
Meanwhile, Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique objected the slogans and some words asserted by PTI members and reminded them about similar words on which their party had demanded apology from him. “I had drawn back those words just to keep the house atmosphere smooth. But, if you will use objectionable language against our leaders, then you will compel us to respond in the same manner.”
What the House once again witnessed on Monday was vocal assertions by Dr Shereen Mazari who used to shout again and again despite the Speaker’s requests to behave and abide by the rules.
Daniyal Aziz’z speech was an eye opener for the House and irksome for
thePTI members who once again created fuss in the House and even did not show respect for Leader of the Opposition Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah denying him to speak when the Speaker had given him mike.
However, on insistence of the PPP members that if PTI would not let Khursheed Shah speak, they may also resist speeches of their leaders. On this the PTI lawmakers finally cooled down and started listening to Syed Khursheed Shah.
The House remained calm during opposition leader’s speech as the Speaker adjourned the House to meet again on Tuesday afternoon on conclusion of Khursheed Shah’s speech.
