ISLAMABAD, Feb 15 (APP):President Pakistan Muslim League (N) Muhammad Nawaz Sharif
here Thursday said he and his family will not compromise on its self respect
but will be tolerant and patient.
Talking to media outside the Accountability Court here, he
said, “We will not compromise on our dignity. We are patient and tolerant.
Every human being has a conscience.”
He said, “Allah
has given every person self-respect and we will not compromise on our
self-respect. They are other people who
compromise on their self respect. No matter is one sided.”
Maryam Nawaz Sharif,
daughter of Nawaz Sharif said names of those should be put on the Exit
Control List (ECL) who in broad day light made a mockery of the law and
constitution and ran away from the country.
“Their name was not put on the ECL but it is being said
that name of Nawaz Sharif and her daughter should be put on ECL, although we
came from London to Pakistan to face the cases and were daily going to the
courts to face false cases,” she added.
No compromise on self respect: Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD, Feb 15 (APP):Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mohsin Nawaz Ranjha on Thursday said that the former prime
minister and head of Pakistan Muslim League N, Nawaz Sharif was not against the judiciary.
Talking to a private news channel, he said Nawaz Sharif had only expressed reservations over the verdict of apex court
regarding disqualification on basis of “Iqama”.
Criticizing the decision was the constitutional right of Nawaz Sharif, he said.
The people were also not accepting the decision of the court regarding disqualification from the premiership, he said.
Some elements wanted to create rift between the Parliament and Judiciary, he said.
To a question he said that there were hell difference between the cases of Yousuf Raza Gillani of Pakistan Peoples Party
and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
The people had great affiliation with their leader Nawaz Sharif and results of bye-elections in favor of PML-N were evident
in that regard, he said.
Playgrounds guarantee healthy society: Rana Arshad
LAHORE, Feb 15 (APP):Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab Rana Muhammad Arshad has said that populated playgrounds ensure a healthy society and healthy children win laurels for countries.
Addressing at the Annual Sports of Unique Group of Institutions at WAPDA Stadium here on Thursday, he said the country’s future in sports was bright as hustle and bustle has been restored to the playing fields in the country.
Test batsman Babur Azam, Director Domestic Development Olympian Naveed Alam, Olympians Khalid Bashir and Khawaja Junaid were among the sports icons who had gathered to inspire students.
Rana Muhammad Arshad said Unique group had relived the sayings of Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Poet of the East Allama Dr Muhamamd Iqbal by ensuring curricular and co-curricular activities for children. He said private institutions have been playing positive role in the promotion of education in the province.
He said Punjab government of Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif had laid special emphasis on sports and co-curricular activities, adding that Punjab Youth festival and Chief Minister’s Speech and essay writing competitions were a step towards character building of the youth in the province.
The advisor to the Chief Minister said sports and sports fields were vital to defeat racism and intolerance from society, adding that sports helped to achieve the goal of a healthy nation.
Children took part in different games including clown race, tug-of-war, relay race and 50 meter sprint besides presenting beautiful display of PT show and aerobics.
Later, chief guests Rana Muhammad Arshad and Babur Azam gave away prizes among the students. A large number of student, teachers and parents attended the sports event which lasted two days.
No justification for putting name of former prime minister on ECL: Marriyum
ISLAMABAD, Feb 15 (APP):Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting, National History and Literary Heritage Marriyum while talking to the media outside Ehtsab Court here Thursday said that only the names of the fugitives from law were put on the ECL and there was no justification in demanding the names of the former Prime Minister, his daughter and son-in-law to be put on ECL, who were appearing before the court thrice during the week and sometimes twice a day.
The minister said that the interior ministry would examine whether the request by NAB fulfilled the requirements for putting the names on the ECL or not and then take the decision accordingly. She said that for putting the names on ECL they would have to look at the prescribed legal and constitutional procedures.
She said that the NAB had chosen to write the letter to the interior ministry when the cases were in their last phases and the verdicts were to be delivered. She said how could NAB know what would be the verdict of the court? She said that in her view it should not have been done by NAB at this stage.
Marriyum said that people were watching the filing of supplementary reference after reference adding that they had neither found anything in the six references filed so far nor in the JIT reports. She said that they even failed to ferret out anything from the boxes that the JIT presented in the Supreme Court. The minister said that they had not been able to unearth corruption of even a single penny.
Secretary Sports inaugurates hockey tournament
LAHORE, Feb 15 (APP):Secretary Sports Punjab, Muhammad Aamir Jan inaugurated 9-a-Side Shezan Hockey Gold Cup here at the national Hockey Stadium on Thursday.
In his media talk on this occasion, Aamir Jan said hockey is our national game and we will utilize all our strength and recourses for its revival. “Pakistan has ruled the hockey world for a long time and with some collective efforts we will be able to formulate a strong hockey team in the near future as well”.
He also announced to hold Under-16 Hockey Championship in all districts in near future to trace fresh talent.
“We will pick 33 talented young hockey players from the championship and then they will be trained in top class academies. We are quite confident to give Pakistan hockey team sufficient back-up strength through our solid efforts,” he elaborated.
Amir Jan said: “Effective school hockey is key to revival of this sport in Pakistan and we are focusing to engage all the leading schools in hockey events on regular basis”.
Secretary Sports Punjab said the event will also help in identifying new hockey talent.
“Sports Board Punjab played key role for organizing multiple sports events and establishing several sports venues across the province,” he added.
The 3-day event is being organised by Lahore’s two leading hockey nurseries, Dar Hockey Academy and Rana Zaheer Academy under the supervision of Pakistan Hockey Federation.

9-A-side hockey gets underway
LAHORE, Feb 15 (APP):The three day,9-A-Side Shezan Hockey Gold Cup started here on Thursday as two matches were decided at the National Hockey Stadium.
Tanvir Dar , Munirs Dar and Afzal Manna teams fashioned out victories in their respective matches of speedy version of hockey.

PSL semi finals tickets go on sale
LAHORE, Feb 15 (APP):Online ticket sales for the two semi finals of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to be played in Lahore next month started today, Thursday.

Pak-China friendship guarantees regional development, stability: President
ISLAMABAD, Feb 15 (APP):President Mamnoon Hussain Thursday said that the friendship between China and Pakistan guaranteed the development and stability of the region for what China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) had emerged as a ray of hope.
The president, in his message to the Chinese people on the onset of Chinese New Year starting from Friday (February 16) aired simultaneously by Pakistan Television and China Central Television on Thursday, said besides geographical proximity, both the people of Pakistan and China were also close to each other by heart.
On behalf of the government and people of Pakistan, President Mamnoon extended his felicitations on the occasion of the wonderful cultural ceremonies of New Year.
He said Pak-China friendship was tied in a strong bond of everlasting strategic cooperation. This relationship of sincerity and love had given an ideal status to mutual cooperation and relations between the two countries.
He believed that the people to people relations as well as the cultural ties would open up new avenues for cooperation.
President Mamnoon expressed his pleasure over last year’s leading role played by China for improving international discipline. The 20th remarkable success of the Communist Party of China had an extraordinary significance in that regard because that historical instance had given a new spirit to the Chinese nation.
He said it was a fact that goals of Pakistan and China were similar for what both the countries were working jointly to promote those objectives. That was why the great project of China Pakistan Economic Corridor was in full swing and heading towards completion, he added.
He expressed his confidence that China would achieve further progress in future under the leadership of President Xi Jinping and the Communist Party of China, besides strengthening Pak-China ties.

Two matches decided in Spring Polo Cup 2018
LAHORE, Feb 15 (APP):Rizvi’s/Master Paints and Barry’s registered victories in the Spring Polo Cup 2018 matches played here at the Lahore Polo Club (LPC) ground on Thursday.
The first match of the day saw Rizvi’s/Master Paints defeating Newage/Guard Group by 7-4½. Juan Cruz Losada displayed outstanding polo skills with mallot and pony by firing fabulous four goals while Hamza Mawaz Khan also played brilliantly by thwarting three tremendous goals in his team’s triumph. From the losing side, which had half goal handicap advantage, Salvador Ulloa hammered a hat-trick and Raja Arslan Najeeb contributed one.
Salvador Ulloa scored the opening goal to provide Newage/Guard Group 1-0 lead in the first chukker. Hamza Mawaz then converted a 30-yard penalty to level the score 1-1 in the second chukker. In the high-voltage third chukker, total five goals were scored with Rizvi’s/Master Paints converting three – two by Hamza and one by Losada – and Newage/Guard Group slamming in two goals – one each by Salvador and Raja Arslan. The chukker ended with Rizvi’s having 4-3 lead.
Losada excelled in the fourth and last chukker as he hammered an impressive hat-trick to give Rizvi’s 7-3 lead while in the dying moments of the chukker, Salvador hit one to reduce the margin to 7-4. With half goal handicap for Newage, Rizvi’s won the match 7-4½. Ignasio Negri and Miguel Luis Duggan supervised the match as field umpires while Masoc Araya acted as match referee.
The second encounter of the day saw Barry’s outclassing Master Paints Black by 7½-1. Eight-goaler Tito Ruiz Guñazu slammed in a hat-trick for Barry’s, which had one and half goal handicap advantage, while Ahmed Bilal Riaz struck two and Raja Mikael Sami hit one. From the losing side, Saqib Khan Khakwani scored the only goal.
The match started with Saqib converting an impressive goal off 30-yard penalty in the beginning of the first chukker to give Master Paints Black 1-0 lead. Barry’s then bounced back in style and struck a leveler through Tito Ruiz. After that, it were all Barry’s who dominated the remaining three chukkers as they thwarted three goals in the second chukker to make it 4-1, with Ahmed Bilal scoring a brace and Tito Ruiz hitting one. Tito Ruiz added one more in the third chukker to enhance the team’s lead to 5-1 and Raja Mikael contributed one to give Barry’s 6-1 edge. With one and half goal handicap advantage, the final score was 7½-1 in favour of Barry’s. Macos Araya and Bilal Haye were field umpires and Ignasio Negri was referee.
Army Whites will take on Diamond Paints Black in the only match of the day to be played tomorrow (Friday) at 2:pm.
Rabbani, senators voices concerns over IMF report
ISLAMABAD, Feb 15 (APP):Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani and other senators voiced concerns over the recent IMF report in which it suggested the country to make drastic changes in the National Finance Commission (NFC) award as it had failed to settle distributions of resources among the provinces.
Chairing the Senate session, Raza Rabbani said that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) could not dictate the country on the distribution of resources among the provinces.”We are not a colony that they dictate us to use our resources,” he added.
Responding to a point raised by the Chair and other lawmakers, Minister of State for Finance Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan said Pakistan had successfully completed the IMF programme last year. “During that time, we were
under certain obligations but after the completion of the programme, this annual review report of the IMF is not binding on us rather it is only advisory,” he said.
