Nawaz Sharif never used unparlimentary language: Baloch

ISLAMABAD, Mar 11 (APP):Minister for SAFRON Lt. Gen (Retd) Abdul Qadir Baloch has said former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had not used any unparlimentary language against political opponents.
Nawaz Sharif had been facing the cases and also cooperated with Joint Investigation Team (JIT) on Panama Papers issue, he said talking to a private news channel.
The minister said Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan was using derogatory language against leadership of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) which did not suit him as leader of political party.
He said political matters should be handled in a political way.
Replying to a question, he said Raza Rabbani had established himself as veteran politician, statesman and parliamentarian, who always worked for strengthening the democracy.

Politicians condemn shoe hurling incident

LAHORE, March 11 (APP):Leaders from across the political divide Sunday condemned throwing of shoes at former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif here at Jamia Naeemia.
Shoes were hurled at Nawaz Sharif, who had arrived at Jamia Naeemia to address a ceremony marking the death anniversary of Mufti Mohammad Hussain Naeemi.
Reacting to the incident, Jamat-e-Islami Ameer Sirajul Haq said it was an unacceptable incident as the Pakistani culture did not allow such intolerance.
Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also strongly condemned the incident, which, he said, was an ugly trend threatening the respect and security of the political leaders.
Bilawal, in a statement, said the PPP was against the use of such disrespectful tactics against opponents since the very inception and would condemn in strong possible terms such incidents.
He said hurling of shoes at Nawaz Sharif and throwing ink at Khwaja Asif had exposed the security breaches, but such attempts should not discourage political leaders to have direct contact with the public.
PPP Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira also said the culture of lack of tolerance should not be promoted. The Lahore incident was an unethical act and no one should be allowed to express his feelings in that way, he added.
Another PPP leader Chaudhary Manzoor Ahmad said political workers should be taught to be tolerant.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, talking to newsmen at the residence of late Jam Saqi in Hyderabad, said such a violent act was against moral and Islamic values.
Ameer Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadith Senator Prof Sajid Mir strongly condemned the shoe hurling incident and termed it against Islamic teachings.
Prof Sajid Mir, in a statement, said such acts impeding politicians to connect with the people and putting their security and that of religious figures at risk, were regrettable.
Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Sardar Masood Khan said shoe throwing incidents were immoral acts, which should be discouraged en bloc by all the political parties. The unscrupulous elements involved in such unethical acts should be awarded exemplary punishment, he added..
He said politics and democracy taught tolerance and forbearance. Time was ripe to evolve an understanding on a code of ethics to avoid such acts in future, he added.
Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif also condemned the incident and termed it a shameful act. The trend was devastating for the country and the nation, which had been flayed by all the politicians, he added.
The chief minister said that it was responsibility of all to move Pakistan forward in the form of a democratic and courteous society.
Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique, in a statement, said throwing shoes at the former prime minister was another attack by those, who were afraid of growing popularity of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
He said attacks on Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif and now on the PML-N supreme leader were part of the opponents’ design.
He asked the political opponents to let the country move forward and do not give an opportunity to the enemy to harm it.
Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf vehemently condemned the unethical act, which, he said, would earn a bad name for the country.
Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana M Iqbal Khan strongly condemned throwing of shoes at the former prime minister, saying elements behind such incidents should be discouraged.
Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah while talking to media, said there was some evil design behind the incident.
“Political or non-political opponents could be involved in the incident,” he added.
Senator-elect Kamran Michael urged the political leadership to take unanimous stand to stop occurring of such incidents in future, which tarnished the country’s image internationally. It seemed a conspiracy had been hatched to damage democratic and liberal image of the Pakistani society, he added.

PML-N in strong position to elect Senate Chairman: Mushahiddullah

ISLAMABAD, Mar 11 (APP):Minister for Climate Change, Senator Mushahiddullah Khan has said that Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) emerged as the largest political party in Senate having sufficient members to elect its chairman.
Talking to a private news channel, he said except allied political parties of PML-N, some other political parties were supporting its candidate for the chairmanship in Senate.
He said Nawaz Sharif had started many mega developmental projects across the country without any discrimination and some of them were nearing completion.
Replying to a question, he said Nawaz Sharif had announced the name of Raza Rabbani for the chairmanship of Senate due to his performance and efforts for supremacy of law in the country.
The minister said the former prime minister was the most popular political leader in the country and people would cast their votes in favour of their beloved leader in the general election 2018, just like they did in various bye-elections.
Mushahiddullah Khan Said Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) was diverted from the idiology of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto, adding Co-chairman of PPP Asif Ali Zardari had adopted undemocratic attitude and norms these days.

PML-N seeking candidate having charismatic personality for Senate chairmanship: Qayyum

ISLAMABAD, Mar 11 (APP):Senator Lt General (Retd), Abdul Qayyum has said Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) was seeking candidate having charismatic personality for running the affairs of Senate as chairman.
The PML-N had bagged maximum seats in the recent Senate elections, and the party have a history of deliverance and development works in the country, he said talking to a private news channel.
The party leadership was finding a candidate with abilities for legislation, deliberation on important matters and could handle the parliamentary diplomacy in an effective manner, he said.
The PML-N had largely resolved the energy crisis, economic, terrorism issues and restored peace in Karachi during four and half year period, he said.
“We are giving priority to national interest while choosing the candidate for the slot of chairmanship, ” he said.
To a question about Pakistan Peoples Party’s claim to bring the candidate for chairmanship, he said the party was confined to Sindh province while the popularity of PML-N was growing in all parts of the country due to development and public welfare projects.
He, however, said we will have consensus on name of the candidate for chairman of Senate and hoped to find the right person in a couple of days

PML-N govt made record development during its tenure: Tariq

ISLAMABAD, Mar 11 (APP):Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government had made record development works during its four and half years tenure.
The present government had eliminated menace of terrorism, overcome power load shedding, improved infrastructure and strengthened the national economy, he said while talking to a private news channel.
The minister said PML-N always focused on projects and development works to facilitate the common man.
He said former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was disqualified on the basis of Iqama but corruption charges could not be proved against him.
Despite of reservations, the PML-N government had implemented the decision of the court.
Dr Tariq Fazal said Nawaz Sharif had made long struggle for restoration of judiciary in the country.
He said PML-N had bagged maximum Senators seats due to its popularity and performance.
He alleged that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was involved in horse trading in Senate elections.

Chairman Senate should be a person who strengthens democracy: Afzal

ISLAMABAD, Mar 11 (APP):Minister of State for Finance Rana Muhammad Afzal has said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government wanted such a person as Chairman of Senate, who will work for rule of law and further strengthening the democracy.
PML-N has majority seats in the Senate and it would announce nominee for Senate Chairman soon, he said while talking to a private news channel.
The minister said Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) had sold its 13 Senators to Co-Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari. “I am astonished on those Senators who were sold to them second time,” he added.
He said PTI leadership was making fun with itself that Senate Chairman should be elected from Balochistan.
He said Raza Rabbani was a competent person, who had worked for promotion of democracy.
Replying to a question, he said former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had strengthened the democracy in the country.

MPA Mehmood Qadir Leghari also spoke on the occasion. He said that
provision of healthcare facilities in the region was top priority
of the provincial government.

Pakistan Navy ships arrive Doha to participate in international maritime defence exhibition

ISLAMABAD, Mar 11 (APP):Pakistan Navy Ship HIMMAT along with Pakistan Maritime Security Ship BASOL arrived in Doha to participate in Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition (DIMDEX-18).
Pakistani flotilla is headed by Cdre Muhammad Faisal Abbasi, who is the Mission Commander and is currently commanding the 25th Destroyer Squadron of Pakistan Navy, said a message received here.
The international exhibition hosts large number of navies/ security agencies from around the globe on biennial basis. Pakistan Navy regularly participates in the event with latest and indigenously constructed platforms.
Both the ships are undertaking their maiden overseas deployments after induction in PN and Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA).
PNS HIMMAT is an AZMAT Class Fast Attack Craft built in Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KS&EW) and equipped with state of the art weapons and sensors.
It is also fitted with indigenously developed HARBAH Missile System and can perform variety of roles/ tasks in multi-threat scenarios.
PMSS BASOL is a HINGOL Class Multi Purpose Vessel (MPV) that has been built in China and fitted with state of the art systems for maritime surveillance. The Ship has been optimized to conduct maritime policing and SAR roles effectively.

PML-N wants to a real democrat chairman Senate: Talal

ISLAMABAD, Mar 11 (APP):Minister of State for Interior Muhammad Talal Chaudhry Sunday said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) wanted to elect a real democrat for chairman Senate, who will work for supremacy of Parliament and strengthening the democracy.
