Dar chairs committee to review Draft Amendment Bill relating to ECP members appointment

ISLAMABAD, May 8 (APP): Finance Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Sunday chaired a meeting of the Laws Review Committee and reviewed the progress on the Draft Amendment Bill relating to appointment of members of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The committee also discussed and reviewed other ancillary matters which would come up for discussion at the meeting of Parliamentary Committee on Electoral Reforms on Monday.
The committee also had discussion on the Draft Apprenticeship Bill, Credit Bureaus (Amendment) Ordinance, 2016 and Public Private Partnership Authority Bill, 2016 which have been pending consideration in the National Assembly and Senate.

Opposition’s TORs aimed at complicating Panama Papers issue: Siddiqui

KARACHI, May 8 (APP): Adviser to the Prime Minister on National
History and Literary Heritage Irfan Siddiqui Sunday said the opposition’s Terms of Reference (TORs) were not aimed at addressing the Panama Papers issue but to complicate the matter.
Talking to the media here, the Adviser said even serious opposition
personalities did not agree with those TORs as they considered the
same a person-specific.
The people were interested in, what he said, ‘Tamasha’ (theatre),
which was aimed at hampering the path of progress and development and creating instability in the country.

Political stability, continued policies guarantee economic uplift: Ahsan

LAHORE, May 8 (APP): Federal Minister for Planning, Development
and Reforms, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal has said that political stability, continuation in policies and promotion of science and technology
would definitely turn Pakistan into strong economy.
He was addressing the Engineer’s Day function organized by
Institution of Engineers Pakistan (IEP) here at Expo Centre, where
the IEP President Engineer Muhammad Ashraf Sheikh, Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) Chairman Engineer Javed Saleem Qureshi and Orgnizer Jawad Haider Gillani were prominent among a large gathering of engineers.
Ahsan Iqbal said that at present, Pakistan was direly needed political stability and continuation in policies, and those, who were attempting to shatter political stability of the country were not well-wishers of Pakistan and the nation.

Pervaiz Rashid condemns Khurram Zaki’s murder

and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid Sunday strongly condemned the killing of human rights and civil society activist Khurram Zaki in Karachi.
He hoped that the Sindh government by taking cognizance of the

Three-day Rawal Expo to commence on May 13

RAWALPINDI, May 08 (APP): Three-day Rawal Expo under the auspices of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) will formally commence here at Ayub Park on May 13.
Industrial products, garments, leather products and furniture would
be displayed at the exhibition, RCCI President Hamyun Pervez said while
talking to APP on Sunday.
He said food court, children playing area and pet show would also be
organized to attract and entertain families and children.

Jilani urges Pak physicians to play role for country’s development

Dharampura gymkhana reaches final

MULTAN, May 8 (APP): Dharampura gymkhana cricket club Lahore
has qualified for final match of the 57th All Pakistan cricket
tournament by defeating Jinnah club by four wickets at MCC
ground here on Sunday.
The tournament was organized by Multan cricket club.
Playing first, jinnah club scored 132 runs for the loss of ten wickets as Sabtain Naqvi made 47 runs and Qalandar made 33 runs.

‘FTA with Iran in the interest of Pakistan’

ISLAMABAD, May 8 (APP): United International Business Group on Sunday said a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Iran was in the interest of Pakistan.
Electricity and gas import from Iran will boost economic activities in Pakistan, so there is need to consid importing five thousand megawatt electricity from Tehran, said Mian Shahid Chairman of the Group in a
statement here on Sunday.
Mian Shahid lauded the government for initiating serious efforts to boost trade with Iran, terming them satisfactory as the two countries can become important trading partners for which a trade deal is imperative.

The role of this Mega’s University is also highly commendable in meeting the educational needs of South Punjab as well,he said while inaugurating the University’s building at Rahim Yar Khan.
According to University’s press release issued here, the Minister spoke high of the Government’s recent measures upgrading educational facilities in the country, through Higher Education Commission and other public sector institutions.

Govt prepared comprehensive ToRs on Panama Papers: Anusha

ISLAMABAD, May 08 (APP): Minister of State for Information
Technology and Telecommunication Anusha Rahman Khan Sunday said
the government had framed comprehensive Terms of Reference (ToRs)
on Panama Papers while those of the opposition parties were biased
and person-specific.
Talking to a news channel, the minister said that opposition parties
had exempted their party leaders in the ToRs, whose names were also mentioned in Panama Papers. The accountability should be carried out
against all those who allegedly have offshore companies according to
the Panama Papers, she added.
She said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had written a letter
to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to head the judicial commission to probe
the Panama issue.
