MIRPUR, Nov 7 (APP): Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the death of the mother of former Additional Advocate General Kotli Chaudhry Razaq, it was officially said.
In his condolence message, the president, while extending his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family, prayed to Allah the almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace, the AJK President’s office told APP AJK Correspondent on Friday.
AJK President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry expressed his profound grief over the sad demise of Dr. Naveed, brother-in-law of former Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, the president’s office sources told the news agency.
He prayed to Allah the almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant patience to all the bereaved to bear this irreparable loss.

Health Secretary orders emergency overhaul of public hospitals, integrates health card program

QUETTA, Nov 07 (APP): Balochistan Health Secretary Dawood Khan Khilji has called for immediate and accelerated reforms in the province’s healthcare sector, directing officials to operate on an emergency basis to improve public hospitals and health services.
His remarks came during a high-level meeting focused on integrating Reimbursement Medical Charges (RMC) for health department employees with the Balochistan Health Card Program (BHCP).
The meeting, attended by Special Secretary Health Shehak Baloch and senior officials, marked a pivotal step toward streamlining healthcare benefits and expanding access to quality medical services.
Secretary Dawood Khilji emphasized that merging RMC with the BHCP would lead to more efficient and transparent budget utilization, ultimately benefiting over 2.3 million families across Balochistan and more than 200,000 government employees.
He added that the integration would enhance accessibility and equity in healthcare delivery, ensuring that both public and government beneficiaries receive consistent and high-quality services.
Following the meeting, Secretary Dawood Khilji and Special Secretary Baloch conducted inspection visits to key health institutions
Dr. Farooq Hout and Dr. Arif Afridi briefed the delegation on current initiatives and system improvements.
Dr. Ababgar Baloch, Provincial Coordinator BHCMIS, showcased the Complaint Cell, explaining its mechanism for registering and resolving public grievances.
Secretary Dawood Khilji instructed officials to make the complaint resolution system more transparent, responsive, and accessible.
Bolan Medical College Hospital (BMCH) Medical Superintendent Dr. Asif Anwar Shahwani led a tour of critical departments including the Emergency Ward, Labor Room, ICU, and Burn Ward.
Secretary Khilji reviewed facilities and administrative operations, stressing that there can be no compromise on healthcare quality.
He directed improvements in cleanliness, discipline, and patient care standards to ensure better treatment outcomes.
Health Secretary Dawood Khilji reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to concrete and sustained improvements in public-sector hospitals. He emphasized that the health department must act swiftly and responsibly to meet the expectations of the people.
“The government is serious about uplifting the state of public hospitals. Every effort must be made to ensure quality healthcare reaches every citizen,” Health Secretary Dawood Khan Khilji concluded.

ISSI hosts launch of book titled “Shavkat Mirziyoyev: A Great Leader of Reforms and Regional Integration”

ISLAMABAD, Nov 07 (APP): The Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI), in collaboration with the Embassy of Uzbekistan, on Friday hosted the launch of the book titled “Shavkat Mirziyoyev: A Great Leader of Reforms and Regional Integration”.
The Chief Guest on the occasion was Federal Minister for National Heritage & Culture Division, Aurengzeb Khan Khichi. Other speakers included Ambassador Sohail Mahmood, Director General, ISSI; Dr. Talat Shabbir, Director, China Pakistan Study Centre (CPSC), ISSI; Alisher Tuhtayev, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan; Dr. Mehmood-ul-Hasan Khan, author; Major General Syed Khalid Amir Jaffery, President of the Centre for South Asia and International Studies, Islamabad; and Professor Dr. Adam Saud, Dean of Bahria University, Islamabad, said a press release.
The event began with the national anthems of Pakistan and Uzbekistan, followed by the screening of a video highlighting the achievements and activities of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
In his introductory remarks, Dr. Talat Shabbir congratulated Dr. Mehmood-ul-Hassan Khan on his important contribution.
He noted that the book highlights President Mirziyoyev’s visionary leadership and Uzbekistan’s reform process. He also spoke about the growing momentum in Pakistan-Uzbekistan relations and their shared vision for regional connectivity.
Ambassador Sohail Mahmood lauded the author for his insightful and comprehensive study that vividly portrays Uzbekistan’s remarkable transformation under the visionary leadership of President Mirziyoyev. He noted that since assuming office in 2016, President Mirziyoyev has led an ambitious reform agenda that reinvigorated Uzbekistan’s internal governance and reshaped its foreign policy outlook.
He highlighted the Uzbek President’s inclusive approach, commitment to modernisation, and efforts to build a “social state” focused on education, poverty reduction, and employment generation.
He further emphasised Uzbekistan’s proactive diplomacy in fostering regional cooperation through initiatives such as the
Trans-Afghan Railway and the Surkhan–Pul-e-Khumri Power Transmission Project, reflecting its constructive role in strengthening regional connectivity and integration.
Ambassador Sohail Mahmood underscored that Pakistan and Uzbekistan share deep-rooted bonds of faith, history, and culture, and have a developed a strategic partnership grounded in mutual trust and shared aspirations. He pointed to growing cooperation in trade, transport, energy, and security, as well as expanding cultural and educational linkages between the two nations.
He also highlighted Pakistan’s ‘Vision Central Asia’ and its five-pronged approach–covering political and diplomatic, trade and economic, energy and connectivity, security and defence, culture and people-to-people exchanges. He added that projects like CPEC, CASA-1000, and the Trans-Afghan Railway are central to realizing the vision of regional connectivity.
Ambassador Sohail Mahmood also noted 2026 marks the 500th anniversary of establishment of the Mughal Empire in the subcontinent by Zaheer-ud-din Babar, who came from the Ferghana Velley in Uzbekistan. As proud heirs of that legacy, he stressed, Pakistan and Uzbekistan should commemorate that landmark event in a befitting manner.
Chief Guest Minister Aurangzeb Khan Khichi said the book celebrates the visionary leadership shaping Uzbekistan’s future. He noted that President Mirziyoyev’s reform agenda is a model for others. He described Uzbekistan as a wonderful country and stressed that greater connectivity is bringing Pakistan and Uzbekistan closer. Appreciating the Uzbek President’s vision, he said the book reflects the growing strength of bilateral relations.
Ambassador Alisher Tuhtayev, in his congratulatory address, praised the strong friendship between Pakistan and Uzbekistan. He noted that the book reflects deep academic interest in Uzbekistan’s economic model and years of dedicated research. Highlighting President Mirziyoyev’s leadership, he said it captures key economic and social reforms and regional connectivity. He appreciated the author’s effort, calling the book a gesture that strengthens Pakistan-Uzbekistan relations.
Dr. Mehmood-ul-Hasan Khan said the completion of this book marks a proud moment for Pakistan, Uzbekistan, and the wider Central Asian region. He thanked Ambassador Tuhtayev, Uzbek think-tanks, and scholars for their cooperation. Highlighting President Mirziyoyev’s leadership, he noted that Uzbekistan’s reforms have driven economic growth, reduced poverty, and promoted modernisation. He added that the book, covering over 39 areas, reflects the deepening partnership and shared vision between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
Major General Syed Khalid Amir Jaffery (R) highlighted Uzbekistan’s transformation under President Mirziyoyev’s leadership and his vision of a “New Uzbekistan” focused on openness, modernisation, and global integration. He noted progress in economic liberalisation, infrastructure, renewable energy, and human capital development, emphasising that these reforms are making Uzbekistan a dynamic, connected, and forward-looking nation.
Professor Adam Saud highlighted that under President Mirziyoyev, Uzbekistan’s per capita income has doubled, reflecting strong economic progress. He noted that enhanced intra-regional connectivity and trade are benefiting Central and South Asia, particularly Pakistan, through free trade and transit agreements. He also emphasised education exchanges and encouraged scholars to read the book for deeper insights.
The event was attended by a cross-section of people including diplomats, senior officials, academics, think-tank experts, and representatives of the media.

CM Bugti reacts to irresponsible, provocative statement made by CM of KP against security forces

QUETTA, Nov 07 (APP):Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Friday strongly reacted to the irresponsible and provocative statement made by the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa against the security forces, terming it as an attempt to contradict national unity and strengthen the enemy’s narrative.
He said that the brave officers and youth who sacrificed their lives for the protection and peace of the beloved homeland are the heroes of the nation, and the entire nation is proud of their sacrifices.
The CM said that negative and baseless talk about such patriotic sons is unacceptable for any conscious Pakistani.
He said that the statement of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is not only an insult to the security agencies but is tantamount to playing with the feelings of thousands of martyrs who sacrificed their lives to restore peace in this country.
He said that such statements are tantamount to pleasing the enemy forces and undermining the public trust.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti clarified that the sacrifices of the security forces are eternal, the entire nation and the international community recognize their role.
He said that these are the same forces who sacrificed their lives from Balochistan to Khyber and achieved victory in the war against terrorism.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti said that the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should immediately apologize to the nation and the families of the martyrs for his irresponsible statement, because such statements strengthen the intentions of the enemy and threaten the peace and stability of the country.
He said that political differences have their place, but mockery of security institutions could not be tolerated under any circumstances. Security forces are a symbol of our pride and stability, and the Balochistan government stands with them at every level, he said.

125 kg of spoiled, stale, and unidentifiable chicken meat was seized by the Food Authority in Mirpur

MIRPUR, Nov 7 (APP): In the wake of the ongoing drive to curb the trend of the supply of substandard cooked edibles to the general consumers in AJK, the Azad Jammu Kashmir Food Authority Mirpur team conducted a surprise operation in the Chattarpuri area late last night and recovered 125 kg of spoiled, stale, and unidentifiable chicken meat, it was officially said.
An official spokesman, while unveiling the details, told APP here on Friday that the meat was stored without any Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), in which the basic principles of temperature control, cleanliness, and traceability of the source were found to be in complete violation.
“The smell, color, and texture of the meat were in very bad condition, which could pose serious risks to human health. The Food Authority team destroyed all 125 kg of meat on the spot and took action against the concerned businessmen under the Pure Food Regulations 2019 AJK and the AJK Food Authority Act. On this occasion, on the instructions of the DFC, the team issued a strict notice on the spot and warned the concerned businessmen that “in the future, if any attempt is made to prepare, store, or sell food without SOPs, heavy fines and legal action will be taken,” the spokesman said.
He further directed that all food units should strictly adhere to the registration, hygienic standards, and cold chain SOPs of the AJK Food Authority.
 On this occasion, District Food Controller (DFC)/Food Safety Officer Adnan Ali Naqvi, Food Analyst Muhammad Jalil, and Assistant Food Safety Officer Shahryar Khan participated in this operation.
 In addition, a team from the Mirpur Police Department was also present on the spot during the operation and provided full cooperation. On this occasion, the spokesperson of the Food Authority said that those selling substandard and unhealthy meat are playing with the lives of the people.
The Food Authority will not tolerate such negligence under any circumstances. Public health is our first priority. He appealed to the public that if they see substandard or stale food being sold anywhere, they should contact the AJK Food Authority helpline.

Under PM capacity building initiative 3rd Batch of 224 trainees departs for China

ISLAMABAD, Nov 07 (APP): Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain Friday said that the government is determined to revolutionize Pakistan’s agriculture sector by empowering youth with modern knowledge and practical skills.
He expressed these views at a special send-off ceremony organized at NARC for a new cohort of 224 Pakistani agriculture graduates departing for China under the Prime Minister’s Special Capacity-Building Initiative.
The minister said that this initiative reflects the Prime Minister’s vision to build a modern, innovative, and climate-resilient agriculture sector through technology transfer and international collaboration.
He noted that China’s remarkable success in agricultural transformation provides an excellent model for Pakistan to emulate, especially in areas of seed development, smart farming, crop breeding, and livestock management. “Our young professionals are the real ambassadors of Pakistan’s agricultural future,” he said.
“They will return not only with advanced technical expertise but also with the confidence to drive change and uplift farming communities across the country.”
Under this batch, a total of 224 trainees will receive specialized training in two leading Chinese institutions. The Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University (NWAFU) in Shaanxi will host participants in disciplines such as crop genetic breeding, preventive veterinary medicine, agricultural intelligent equipment, animal genetic breeding, and reproduction.
Another group will train at Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) in Wuhan through a joint venture with Qingfa-Heshang Agricultural Development Company, focusing on seed production and processing.
Rana Tanveer Hussain appreciated the Ministry of National Food Security and Research (MNFSR) and its partner institutions, including the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), and Pakistan’s Embassy in Beijing, for their effective coordination in implementing the Prime Minister’s vision.
He also lauded the transparent and merit-based selection process, which ensured representation from all provinces, including a dedicated quota for Balochistan.
The minister emphasized that investing in human capital is the foundation of sustainable agricultural growth, adding that trained graduates will act as catalysts for innovation and productivity enhancement in Pakistan’s agriculture sector.
He said that these consistent efforts under the Prime Minister’s Capacity-Building Program demonstrate Pakistan’s firm commitment to learning from China’s experience in agricultural modernization and applying that knowledge to strengthen national food security and rural prosperity.
Rana Tanveer Hussain reaffirmed that this collaboration represents not just an academic partnership but a strategic pillar of the Pakistan–China friendship, aligning with the broader goals of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
He expressed confidence that upon their return, the graduates will play a crucial role in modernizing agriculture, introducing climate-smart practices, and boosting Pakistan’s agricultural exports.

“Hailey Research Week” concludes at Punjab University

LAHORE, Nov 07 (APP):The concluding ceremony of the “Hailey Research Week” was held at Hailey College of Commerce, University of the Punjab on Friday.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Ali graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Chairman of the Intellectual Property Organization (IPO) Farrukh Amil, Principal of Hailey College Dr. Hafiz Zafar Ahmad, representatives from the Chinese Embassy including Le Oting, faculty members, researchers, and a large number of students attended the event.
Speaking on the occasion, IPO Chairman Farrukh Amil said that intellectual property is a fundamental pillar of sustainable economic development, enabling societies to meet the challenges of the 21st century. He emphasized that young graduates should choose entrepreneurship over employment and ensure their businesses are properly registered. Protecting intellectual property, he added, not only prevents counterfeiting but also enhances brand value and encourages innovation.

Highlighting the growing importance of intellectual property protection in the digital era, Amil urged companies and entrepreneurs to promptly register their trademarks and logos.
Director General IPO Nauman Aslam said that IPO Pakistan is fully committed to protecting the rights of the creative community and ensuring their effective enforcement. He mentioned that the organization has introduced a new digital system allowing online submission of complaints, which will reduce unnecessary office visits, speed up processing, and keep complainants updated on their case progress.
Addressing the students, Punjab University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Ali urged them to actively participate in social service alongside their academic pursuits. He stressed, “No student should be awarded a degree without engaging in social work, as practical service helps develop social consciousness.”
Earlier, Principal of Hailey College of Commerce Dr. Hafiz Zafar Ahmad, in his welcome address, said that during “Hailey Research Week,” researchers from seven countries participated, six workshops were organized, and fifteen partner institutions took part in various academic activities.
