MNA Tahir Iqbal condemns Israeli aggression, calls for OIC action on Iran conflict

ISLAMABAD, Jun 17 (APP):MNA Major (R) Tahir Iqbal stated that Israel had violated Iran’s sovereignty, and under the United Nations Charter, Iran has the full right to defend itself.
Speaking to the media outside the Parliament House, he said that Israel is acting as a terrorist state and is continuously expanding its aggressive actions.
He added that Pakistan will continue to extend its diplomatic, political, and moral support in this matter.
Commenting on the broader implications, he said that a war between Iran and Israel would have a serious impact on the region, and neighboring countries would also suffer severely.
He emphasized that it is high time for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to take concrete and practical steps, rather than issuing mere verbal statements, to stop the conflict as soon as possible.
In response to a question, he said that the government had presented a commendable budget, especially in light of global inflation trends.
He further mentioned that the government is taking various measures to provide maximum relief to the public.

Pakistan, UAE DPMs discuss situation post Israel attacks on Iran

ISLAMABAD, Jun 17 (APP): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday received a call from the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. 

During the telephonic conversation, the two leaders discussed the evolving regional situation in the wake of Israel’s military strikes against the Islamic Republic of Iran.  

They expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions and underscored the urgent need to support efforts for ensuring  regional peace and stability. 

Chairman Senate welcomes Romanian Ambassador Dan Stoenescu

ISLAMABAD, Jun 17 (APP):Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani on Tuesday welcomed the Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan, H. E. Dan Stoenescu, during his visit to the Senate, where he also witnessed the ongoing proceedings of the Senate.
The Chairman extended warm greetings to Ambassador Stoenescu and appreciated the longstanding diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Romania. He expressed hope for continued parliamentary cooperation and stronger bilateral engagement.

Shandur Polo Festival to be held from June 20

ASTORE, Jun 17 (APP):The annual Shandur Polo Festival would be organized from June 20 to 22 in collaboration with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan governments and Fortier, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa  (North), the official sources said on Tuesday.
The Shandur Polo Festival is an annual three-day event held at Shandur Top, known as the “Roof of the World,” in the Hindu Kush mountains of Pakistan, specifically between Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral.
The festival, typically  featured traditional, freestyle polo matches between teams from Gilgit and Chitral, they said, adding beyond the polo, the festival also included cultural performances, music, and paragliding.
A great number of local and foreign tourists is expected to attend the festival.

14th death anniversary of poet Hassan Dars observed

SANGHAR, Jun 17 (APP):14th death anniversary of renowned poet and nature lover Hassan Dars, who masterfully captured the natural beauty of Sindh in his poetry, was commemorated in a special ceremony organized by the Kainat Historical, Cultural, Peace & Welfare Society Sindh at Saand House, Tando Adam.
The event witnessed a large gathering of literary figures, intellectuals, social workers, political leaders, and local citizens. Prominent participants and speakers included Chairman of Society Riaz Sanjrani, Ashiq Hussain Saand, Sindh Adabi Sangat’s Secretary General Noor Chakrani, Tando Adam Secretary Ikhlaq Waryah, Gul Hassan Lakho, Sagar Dahraj, SAGA’s Zahid Memon, SUP leader Commrade Muhammad Khan Panhwar, PMA Sindh President Dr. Bashir Khaskheli, President of All Saand Samaji Ittehad Ghulam Muhammad Saand, Khaskheli Ittehad’s Ghulam Rasool Khaskheli and Mola Bakhsh Khaskheli, senior journalist Khalid Khaskheli, Qaumi Awami Tehreek’s Zubair Makorani, and social activist Habibullah Saand.
Speakers shared heartfelt memories of Hassan Dars, recalling his early passion for poetry, which eventually earned him a revered place among the greatest Sindhi poets after Sheikh Ayaz and Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.
They noted that Dars uniquely highlighted rural life, the beauty of Sindh, the Thar desert, and Karoonjhar hills through his powerful verses. He was not affiliated with any political party but was purely a poet of the land and its people.
They also reflected on the tragedy of his untimely demise in a road accident in Hyderabad on June 16, 2011, when he was at the peak of his poetic journey.
As part of the remembrance, delegations from Kainat Historical Society and Sindhi Adabi Sangat Tando Adam visited Hassan Dars’ grave at Mashaikh Hothi Graveyard, where they laid floral wreaths and offered fateha.
The ceremony concluded with a soulful musical performance by famed singers Faheem Khaskheli and Ghulam Nabi Khaskheli, who recited Hassan Dars’ poetry with emotional depth and artistic expression, receiving immense appreciation from the audience.

IRSA releases 246,596 cusecs water

ISLAMABAD, Jun 17 (APP):Indus River System Authority (IRSA) on Tuesday released 246,596 cusecs water from various rim stations with inflow of 276,014 cusecs.
According to the data released by IRSA, the water level in River Indus at Tarbela Dam was 1451.78 feet which was 49.78 feet higher than the dead level of 1402.00 feet. Water inflow and outflow in the dam was recorded as 168,500 cusecs and 152,000 cusecs, respectively.
The water level in River Jhelum at Mangla Dam was 1167.75 feet, which was 117.75 feet higher than its dead level of 1,050 feet. The inflow and outflow of water was recorded 27,918 cusecs and 15,000 cusecs, respectively.
The release of water at Kalabagh, Taunsa , Guddu and Sukkur was recorded as 187,685, 139,094, 90,219 and 36,190 cusecs, respectively. Similarly, from River Kabul, a total of 22,100 cusecs of water released at Nowshera and 26,629 cusecs released from River Chenab at Marala.
