PM greets President Macron on National Day
ISLAMABAD, Jul 14 (APP): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Friday extended his warmest greetings to President Emmanuel Macron and the French people on their National Day.
In a tweet on social media platform Twitter, he said, “I extend my warmest greetings to H.E. President Emmanuel Macron & the French people on their National Day today. The day commemorates the revolutionary struggle of the French people that resulted in the storming of the Bastille and ushered in a new era of liberty, equality & fraternity.”
“As Pakistanis were experiencing the devastating floods last year, President Emmanuel Macron
and his government came forward with prompt assistance. Equally praiseworthy was the French advocacy of climate change and support to Pakistan during the Resilient Pakistan Conference in Geneva. Pakistan wishes to further build on its friendly ties with French Republic,” he added.
Over Rs 68 billion disbursed among 7.5 million beneficiaries under Benazir Kafaalat
ISLAMABAD, Jul 14 (APP):About Rs 68 billion has been disbursed so far by the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) as the 4th quarterly tranche of its Benazir Kafaalat initiative for the financial year-2022-23 among among over 7.5 million families .
Under the Benazir Kafaalat, some 9 million registered beneficiary families were entitled to a quarterly installment of Rs 9,000 per household, a BISP spokesperson said on Friday.
The spokesperson said the BISP had already released over Rs 81 billion to its partner banks, including Bank Alfalah and Habib Bank Limited (HBL) for disbursement among the beneficiaries through their retail distribution network.
Along with the Benazir Kafaalat, he said the Benazir Educational Scholarships were also being given out to the children of registered families, for which 70% attendance in the school was mandatory.
He said in case of any complaint, beneficiaries could approach the nearest BISP Tehsil offices or call on toll-free helpline number 080026477.
The spokesman reiterated that any messages from the numbers other 8171 should not be heeded to.
Kashmiris to mark 76th Accession to Pakistan Day on July 19
MIRPUR(AJK), Jul 14 (APP): Brisk preparations have begun by Kashmiris, residing on both sides of the line of control and around the world to observe the 76th anniversary of Kashmir’s accession to Pakistan on July 19.
Various social, political, and civil society organizations in Jammu & Kashmir are diligently planning elaborate programs to mark Kashmir’s accession to Pakistan Day.
The organizers have expressed their commitment to ensuring a comprehensive and meaningful observance of Kashmir’s accession to Pakistan Day.
They are actively coordinating events and activities in collaboration with social, political, and civil society groups.
This commemoration includes a renewed commitment to the pursuit of self-determination and the realization of the idea of the entire Jammu Kashmir state acceding to Pakistan, in accordance with the historic resolution passed on this day in 1947.
These initiatives will be carried out across Azad Jammu Kashmir, Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, and other regions where Kashmiris reside.

The observance of this day symbolizes the unwavering determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir to achieve the ultimate objective of the state’s accession to Pakistan.
Special ceremonies will take place in towns and cities across Azad Jammu Kashmir to mark the occasion, emphasizing the urgency of implementing the ideology of Jammu and Kashmir’s accession to Pakistan after the liberation of the occupied territories from Indian control.
ISSI, IFI sign first-ever MoU between Pak-Lebanon think tanks to promote mutual research
ISLAMABAD, Jul 14 (APP): Centre for Afghanistan, Middle East & Africa (CAMEA) at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) and Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs (IFI) at the American University of Beirut on Friday signed the first-ever memorandum of understanding (MoU) between any Pakistani or Lebanese think tank to promote mutual research and activities.
Centre for Afghanistan, Middle East and Africa (CAMEA) at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) represented by its Director, Amina Khan and the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs (IFI) at the American University of Beirut, represented by its Country Director, Dr. Joseph Bahout, signed the MoU, a new release said.
In his remarks on the occasion, Director General ISSI Ambassador (R) Sohail Mahmood highlighted the strong fraternal relations between Pakistan and Lebanon and the desire on both sides to deepen bilateral relations across diverse fields.
He welcomed the signing of the MoU as part of the efforts to build academic and think-tank linkages and hoped that this institutional relationship would induce joint collaborative activities including research and dialogue for mutual benefit.
The DG ISSI added that the uncertain global environment, accentuating traditional and non-traditional security threats, and issues of common concern necessitated international cooperation and such collaborative endeavours as being initiated between ISSI and IFI.
While speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Salman Athar, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Lebanon highlighted that this was the first-ever MoU between the think-tanks of Pakistan and Lebanon.
He added that through close mutual cooperation both sides could benefit hugely and achieve a lot.
Country Director IFI, Dr. Joseph Bahout in his remarks hailed the signing of the MoU and said that complex global issues required broader cooperation and this collaboration was a step in the right direction.
He underscored the importance of close consultations between the two Institutions and working out a calendar of joint activities.
Director, CAMEA Amina Khan also spoke on the occasion, noting that the first MoU between a Lebanese and Pakistani think-tank was a testament to the importance Pakistan attached to its relations with Lebanon, which will help strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the future.
