Alvi administers oath of Banking Ombudsman to Sirajuddin Aziz

ISLAMABAD, Jul 18 (APP): President Dr Arif Alvi on Tuesday administered the oath of office of Banking Ombudsman to Sirajuddin Aziz.

The swearing-in ceremony was held here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.

The president administered the oath in line with clause (2) of the Article 203C of the Constitution.

PM grieved over sudden death of Tariq Fazal Chaudhry’s son

ISLAMABAD, Jul 18 (APP): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday expressed deep sorrow over sudden death of PML-N leader Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry’s son who died in a road accident here on Monday night.

The prime minister, in a statement issued by the PM office, offered his heartfelt condolence and sympathies to the bereaved family of late Anza Tariq.

He prayed to Allah Almighty to grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude.

He also prayed for grant of eternal peace to the departed soul.

Meanwhile, in his tweet, the prime minister said that for parents, nothing was more heart shattering than losing a child.

“My heart goes out to Tariq and his bereaved family in this hour of indescribable grief. The whole PML-N family shares his sorrow. May Allah rest the departed soul in peace! My heartfelt condolences,” he added.

Ahsan Iqbal saddens over demise of Dr Tariq’s son in road accident

ISLAMABAD, Jul 18 (APP):Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Professor Ahsan Iqbal on Tuesday expressed deep grief and sorrow over the demise of the son of PML-N Islamabad-chapter President Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry in a road accident.

In a condolence message on his Twitter handle, the minister said he felt extreme shock to hear about the death of Dr Tariq’s son.

“Inna Lillah e Wa Inna Elah-e-Rajaioon,” he said while sympathizing with Dr Tariq Fazal.

He prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace, raise his ranks and grant patience and courage to the bereaved family to bear this loss with equanimity.

IRSA releases 324,000 cusecs water

ISLAMABAD, Jul 18 (APP):Indus River System Authority (IRSA) on Tuesday released 324,000 cusecs of water from various rim stations with an inflow of 390,800 cusecs.

According to the data released by IRSA, the water level in River Indus at Tarbela Dam was 1515.67 feet and was 117.67 feet higher than its dead level of 1,398 feet. Water inflow and outflow in the dam was recorded as 193,900 cusecs and 170,000 cusecs respectively.

The water level in River Jhelum at Mangla Dam was 1206.95 feet, which was 156.95 feet higher than its dead level of 1,050 feet. The inflow and outflow of water was recorded at 52,900 cusecs and 10,000 cusecs respectively.

The release of water at Kalabagh, Taunsa, Guddu and Sukkur was recorded as 218,100, 172,200, 143,800 and 74,000 cusecs respectively.

Similarly, from River Kabul, a total of 49,000 cusecs of water released at Nowshera and 66,000 cusecs released from River Chenab at Marala.

China, Pakistan to tap potential in TCM collaboration

BEIJING, July 18 (APP):Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine welcomes young talents in the medical field of Pakistan to visit and is ready to provide training opportunities lasting for several months.

Also, we are more than willing to send our medics to Pakistan for further research in TCM,” Prof. Liu Qingquan, President, of Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Capital Medical University, told China Economic Net.


He made the above remarks while welcoming the Pakistani delegation in Beijing last week.
A four-member Pakistani delegation led by Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, Minister for Health & Population Welfare, Sindh, arrived in China on July 12 for a 12-day visit. They were to participate in health dialogues with Chinese health departments, hospitals, institutions, enterprises for more possibilities in cooperation between China and Pakistan in fields of health, medicine and so on.


During the visit to Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the delegation showed great interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Both sides exchanged ideas and information on topics including talent exchange, construction of TCM teaching system, clinical research, compilation of China-Pakistan herbal books.


According to the hospital, there are 7 characteristic diagnosis and treatment centers of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Beijing, including Dermatology Department of TCM, Cardiovascular Department of TCM, Digestion Center, Acupuncture and Moxibustion Center, Pediatrics Department of TCM, Gynecology Department of TCM and TCM Preventive Treatment Center. “We welcome Pakistani talents to explore more in terms of the combination of TCM and modern technology to improve the quality of life of patients,” Liu noted.


On the occasion, Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, director of International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), Pakistan, was invited to be a visiting professor by Prof. Liu Qingquan.


Established in 1956, Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine is the only comprehensive and modernized grade-A tertiary hospital of traditional Chinese medicine in Beijing. In recent years, the hospital had undertaken several national technical aid projects and organized multi-terms of international training on Chinese medicine health care and traditional medicine management.

The hospital also sent experts and scholars to visit, attend training, and give lectures, consultations, and academic exchanges globally to promote the international impacts of TCM and enhance the friendship between China and other countries.

PM, Punjab CM discuss matter of salaries, pensions of provincial employees

ISLAMABAD, Jul 18 (APP): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday discussed the matter of Punjab government employees’ pensions and salaries with caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi via telephone.

He discussed with the CM Punjab about raising salaries and pensions of Punjab government employees at par with the federal government employees.

Mohsin Naqvi assured the prime minister that the matter would be presented before the provincial cabinet again.

ISLAMABAD, Jul 18 (APP): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb on Monday expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of the young son of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) Leader Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry in a road accident.
