Seminar held in Brussels to mark “Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir”

ISLAMABAD, Aug 4 (APP):The embassy of Pakistan Brussels organized a seminar on the eve of Youm-e-Istehsal (Day of exploitation) Kashmir to express its firm support to the people of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

The seminar which was held in hybrid format was aimed at highlighting the human rights violations by the Indian government in the IIOJK especially in the wake of August 5, 2019 actions to modify the status contrary to the international commitments.

Former Member of the European Parliament Phil Bennion, Chairman Kashmir Institute of International Relations Altaf Hussain Wani, Former President Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry Dr. Mubeen Shah and Chairman EU Kashmir Council Ali Raza Syed expressed their views focusing on the gross violations by the Indian forces of the right to liberty, health, education, expression, assembly and freedom of religion.

While highlighting the grave human rights situation in the IIOJK, the panellists called upon India to cease atrocities against innocent Kashmiris who were suffering under its illegal occupation for over past seven decades. They termed Indian actions since 05 August 2019, illegal and in violation of the international law, and demanded their unconditional revocation.

In her remarks, the Ambassador of Pakistan to the EU, Belgium and Luxembourg, Amna Baloch apprised the audience about the unabated atrocities being committed by the Indian security forces, especially after illegally revoking the special status of the IIOJ&K on 5th August 2019. She underscored that over 900,000 Indian occupation forces turned IIOJK into the world’s largest open prison and the most militarized zone in the world, which necessitates intervention from the international community especially UN and the European Union.
 
The ambassador reiterated Pakistan’s political, diplomatic and moral support for the Kashmiri people’s just cause of self-determination according to the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council.

The event was attended by representatives of media, scholars, Pakistani and Kashmiri diaspora.

Cao Shudong calls on Dar

ISLAMABAD, Aug 4 (APP): Cao Shudong, Vice President, China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) called on Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Friday.

SAPM on Finance Tariq Bajwa, PAEC team, CNNC team and senior officials from Finance Division attended the meeting, said a press release issued here.

The meeting discussed China-Pakistan Cooperation in the field of nuclear energy projects including and construction of a Chasma Nuclear Power Plant (C-5) of 1200 MW capacity in Mianwali district with Chinese credit.

Dar appreciated the Chinese leadership for extending support to Pakistan in different fields of development and growth.

The finance minister extended full GoP support to CNNC in the timely construction and completion of the nuclear power plant, which shows the bondage and deep-rooted friendship between Pakistan and China.

Sherry urges higher judiciary to take notice of torture on Rizwana

ISLAMABAD, Aug 04 (APP): Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman on Friday urged the higher judiciary to take suo moto notice of the distressing case of Rizwana, a juvenile domestic worker who had suffered brutal torture at the hands of a judge’s family.

Speaking on point of public importance in the Senate, she said the ill-fated girl, who was fighting for her life at the Intensive Care Unit of a hospital, should be given justice.

The minister also asserted that general elections must be conducted on schedule and should not be postponed on the pretext of census.

Dar chairs meeting on reforms in energy sector

ISLAMABAD, Aug 4 (APP): Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting on reforms in the Energy Sector.

Minister of State for Petroleum Division Musadik Masood Malik, SAPM on Finance Tariq Bajwa, SAPM on Revenue Tariq Pasha, and senior officers from the Finance and Petroleum Division attended the meeting, said a press release issued here.

The meeting conversed about the ongoing issues in the Energy sector, particularly the issue of Circular debt in the gas sector, and discussed and finalized modalities and frameworks to be followed in order to bring sustainability in the energy sector including a reduction in the circular debt in the gas sector.

The finance minister reiterated the priority of the government to address the issues of the energy sector to improve the macro-economic indicators of Pakistan and to enhance the economic growth of the country.

Saudi Arabia to host int’l meeting on Ukrainian crisis to promote peace, cooperation

RIYADH, Aug 04 (APP): The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in a significant diplomatic move, is going to host a high-level meeting involving National Security Advisors and representatives from several brotherly and friendly nations in Jeddah.

The focus of the meeting, being held on Saturday, is to address the ongoing Ukrainian crisis that has garnered global attention, said a press release issued by the Saudi Ministry of Media on Friday.

This initiative reflects the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian efforts and diplomacy, as demonstrated by Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

From the outset of the crisis, the Crown Prince engaged in meaningful communication with both Russian and Ukrainian leaderships, underscoring Saudi Arabia’s willingness to employ its diplomatic expertise to facilitate a lasting resolution.

Pakistan to continue highlighting Indian atrocities in IIOJK at all forums: Bilawal

KARACHI, Aug 04 (APP): Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Friday said Pakistan would continue to highlight the unchecked Indian atrocities in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) at every world forum.

The ideological and emotional attachment of the Kashmiri people to Pakistan was an open secret to the world, he said in his message on the eve of Kashmir Exploitation Day (Youm-e-Istehsal).

The foreign minister said the unilateral and illegal action taken by the Modi government on August 5, 2019 (to change the IIOJK’s special status) was India’s last tactic against the occupied Valley, which also failed.

India, he added, had been exposed to the world in a very bad way when she changed the special status of IIOJK. In every nook and cranny of the world, the people were protesting against Indian atrocities, which was a victory of Kashmiris.

He appreciated the protest demonstrations and events by the Muslim Ummah as well as rights organizations and individuals around the world in connection with the Kashmir Exploitation Day.

“India cannot keep occupied Kashmir in the chains of its oppression and brutality for a long time,” he added.

Bilawal Bhutto, who is also Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party, said in the so-called “biggest democracy of the world”, every government and every political party had always been on the same page on the agenda of atrocities and exploitation of IIOJK, and despite that, they had failed to suppress and weaken the struggle of the people of Occupied Kashmir for their right to self-determination.

“India has one last chance to correct its strategic mistake through its Supreme Court,” he added.

He said Quaid-i-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto were the biggest supporters of Kashmir’s freedom, who kept raising the position of Kashmiris’ right to self-determination loudly at every forum.

“The PPP expresses full solidarity with the Kashmiris and renews its commitment to continue political, diplomatic and moral support to the people of Occupied valley until they get their freedom,” he pledged.

Saad Rafique praises PMD’s KISSAN App

ISLAMABAD, Aug 4 (APP): Minister for Railways and Aviation, Khawaja Saad Rafique on Friday praised the efforts of the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) to introduce the Kissan application and online business interface.

The minister inaugurated PMD Online Business Interface and Kisaan Mobile Application as a step for the digitization and modernization of meteorological services at PMD Headquarters, said a press release.

It said that through this initiative PMD is stepping from basic to specialized weather services.

The business model of PMD has been prepared as per World Meteorological Organization (WMO) guidelines, market research and economic analyses. There are mainly two online interfaces which include Online Dashboard and Kisaan Mobile Application.

The online dashboard will contain climatic data, a digital forecast of the precise location and tailored meteorological products as per user requirements. The dashboard will be integrated through a payment gateway instead of a conventional challan system.

Kisaan Mobile Application’s features were demonstrated which will provide the option to save farms’ location so that its weather conditions could be seen remotely by the farmers.

Weather information will be available on an hourly, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis. Moreover, there will be voice notes and videos in national as well as regional languages.

Extreme events warnings could also be sent to specified locations.

Pakistan needs peace, unity to achieve progress, prosperity: PM

RAWALPINDI, Aug 4 (APP):Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Friday here said Pakistan was rich with natural resources, fertile land and minerals and needed peace, stability, unity and brotherhood to achieve economic progress and prosperity.

Speaking at Idara e Taleemat e Islamia here, he said, “We saved Pakistan from default and now with solidarity and strength we have take Pakistan forward and achieve economic security for people, especially for those who are financially vulnerable.”

Pakistan had immense mineral resources in its provinces of Balochistan, Sindh, Gilgit Baltistan and other places and needed to extract them for the welfare and well-being of its people, he noted.

He said at present Pakistan was facing economic challenges and in the 15 months his government tried its best to take the country out of difficulties.

The oil prices in the world had skyrocketed and the government was forced to raise prices, he said adding if Pakistan had the oil and gas resources, people would have been given fuel on cheaper prices.

The prime minister said the dream of a prosperous Pakistan could materialize with investment in the sectors of agriculture, information technology and mineral development.

“We have to get rid of loans by working hard and by utilizing our resources and talented youth to achieve prosperity and eliminate poverty.”

He lauded the decades-long services of Pir Syed Riaz Hussain Shah for promotion of Islamic teachings and for guidance of people.

Pir Riaz Hussain Shah was a truthful and sincere follower of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), he said adding Ulema should be respected and honoured and their guidance should be sought for success in this world and the hereafter.

Pakistan always been of great importance to Iran; Iranian FM

KARACHI, Aug 04 (APP): Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Friday said Pakistan, as a neighbouring and a Muslim country has always been of great importance to his country, stating many historical, religious and cultural commonalities have made the connection between the two countries stronger.

Addressing a conference titled Economic and Investment Opportunities between Iran and Pakistan at a local hotel, he said in recent years various measures have been taken from both sides to expand the bilateral relations, particularly in the economic sector, said the Foreign Minister of Iran.

He said Iran and Pakistan had entered into different agreements such as Belt and Road initiative, as both have strategic geographic positions and are located on the path of international transportation corridors.

Dr Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said geographical locations of two ports, Chabahar in Iran and Gwadar in Pakistan have capacities that could be exploited in order to increase bilateral and regional economic cooperation between the two countries.

He said Pakistan can cover Iran’s cultural market and Iran can help Pakistan meet its energy demand, for this purpose Iran Pakistan’s gas pipeline has been extended by the government of Iran.

He concluded that Iran’s electricity export to Pakistan is also on the rise. The total bilateral trade between Iran and Pakistan has been going up in recent years.

India cannot suppress Kashmiris with brutality, hooliganism: Governor

QUETTA, Aug 04 (APP): Governor Balochistan Malik Abdul Wali Khan Kakar on Friday said it has become clear that India cannot suppress the struggle of Kashmiris for freedom with its brutal act, stating that the people of Balochistan would always stand with their Kashmiri brothers and sisters.

He demanded that the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) should be granted the right to self-determination as promised by the United Nations in its resolutions.

On 5 August 2019, India’s unilaterally and illegal annexation of IIOJK into the Indian Union and abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A of the Indian constitution exposed its undemocratic face by violating all laws and values.

August 5 is a dark day in the history of India as it revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, he said in a message on the occasion of Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir.

Like other parts of the country, Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir is being observed in Balochistan to mark the fourth year of India’s denounced illegal, immoral and unconstitutional step to strip the special status of IIOJK.

Governor Balochistan said that Pakistan has highlighted the Kashmir issue at every forum of the world and as always there is a strong demand that the people of IIOJK should be given the right to self-determination

He expressed his confidence that our Kashmiri brothers will one day be successful in their just freedom struggle.
