69 more infected with dengue virus in RWP

RAWALPINDI, Oct 10 (APP):As many as 69 more dengue cases were reported in Rawalpindi during the last 24 hours, raising the tally of confirmed cases to 3,174.

District Coordinator Epidemics Prevention and Control (DCEPC), Dr Sajjad Mehmood Monday said among the new cases, 28 patients had arrived from Potohar town urban area, 17 from Municipal Corporation, Rawalpindi, 13 from Rawalpindi Cantonment, seven from Chaklala cantonment, four from Potohar rural, three from Taxila Cantonment, and one of each from Taxila rural, Kalar Syeda and Gujjar Khan.

Dr Sajjad added that 239 patients were admitted to the city’s allied hospitals, including 117 to the Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH), 79 to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) and 43 to the Holy Family Hospital (HFH). He informed that out of the total admitted patients, 188 tested positive, with 129 belonging to Rawalpindi.

Dr Sajjad further added that three patients were in a critical position at BBH and one in the DHQ hospital.

The health official said that the district administration, in collaboration with allied departments, had registered 2,665 FIRs, sealed 611 premises, issued Challans to 7,425, notices to 10,674 and a fine of Rs 7,361,916 imposed on violations of dengue SOPs from January 1 to date.

Rs 750 prize bond to be held at SBP Quetta on Oct 17

QUETTA, Oct 10 (APP): The 92nd draw of Rs 750 denomination prize bond will be held at the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Quetta on October 17.

“Arrangements have been finalized to hold a draw of Rs 750 denomination prize bond in the premises of the State Bank of Pakistan Quetta at 09:AM on 17 October,” the Regional Directorate of National Savings said on Monday.

PNF Girls Netball Cup from Tuesday

ISLAMABAD, Oct 10 (APP):PNF Girls Netball Cup will kick off from Tuesday at PSB Coaching Centre, Karachi.

According to President, Pakistan Netball Federation, Mudassar Arain all arrangements for the championship have been finalised in the Organizing Committee meeting. “As many as 36 teams will take part in the Championship and U-13, U-15, U-17, U-19 and University level competitions will be held during the event,” he said.


He said the final matches of the championship would be played on October 14 followed the concluding ceremony in which trophies and certificates will be delivered to the winning teams.


The Championship would be played under the supervision of Pakistan Netball Federation and in collaboration with Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Sindh and Pakistan Sports Board.

PSX witnesses bullish trend, gains 126 points

ISLAMABAD, OCT 10 (APP): The 100-index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed bullish trend on Monday, gaining 126.39 points, a positive change of 0.30 percent, closing at 42,211.64 points against 42,085.25 points on the last working day.

A total of 240,194,764 shares were traded during the day compared to 313,348,644  shares the previous day, whereas the price of shares stood at Rs.10.533 billion against Rs. 9.420 billion on the last trading day.

As many as 336 companies transacted their shares in the stock market, 161 of them recorded gain and 149 sustained losses, whereas the share price of 26 companies remained unchanged.

The three top trading companies were WorldCall Telecom with 31,151,000 shares at Rs.1.63 per share, Pak Elektron with 27,142,500 at Rs.17.45 and The TRG Pak Ltd with 26,747,663 at Rs.151.43 per share.

Unilever Foods witnessed a maximum increase of Rs.449.50 per share price, closing at Rs25,949.50 whereas the runner up was Nestle Pakistan with Rs.100 rise in per share price to Rs.5,850.

Colgate PalmXB witnessed maximum decrease of Rs.40.01 per share closing at Rs.2,059.99 followed by Gatron Industries with Rs.30.50 decline to close at Rs.378.50.
