‘Mera Pakistan’ musical night held at PAC

RAWALPINDI, Aug 15 (APP): A musical night ‘Mera Pakistan’ was organized at the Punjab Arts Council last night (PAC) to celebrate the 76th Independence Day of Pakistan.

Director of Arts Council Waqar Ahmed addressing the ceremony said folk songs of Punjab have their unique place in the country’s culture, in which the traditions, simplicity, and sincere love of the people of Punjab were hidden.

The artists of Punjab have preserved their folk songs, and unique tone in a rich way and today’s young generation was also benefiting from this.

He said that PAC was also playing a significant role in promoting the culture of other provinces and federal units.

Assistant Director Muhammad Suleman said that the identity of any nation was its civilization and culture and those nations prospered which were connected to their culture.

Punjab Arts Council was providing a platform to the youth in the fields of drama, music, fine arts, and literature, he added.

The singers including Sonia Azeem, Dr Mubashir Hafeez, Rizwana Khan, Ishaq Malik Ghori, Samina Khalid, and Rameez Ishaque created the magic of their voices and received a standing ovation from the audience.

They presented beautiful songs from four provinces, including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
A large number of people attended the ceremony.

SC sends delimitation matter to ECP

ISLAMABAD, Aug 15 (APP): The Supreme Court on Tuesday sent the matter of delimitations of provincial constituencies in Sindh to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

A two-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial heard the case regarding the delimitation of three constituencies S-7, S-8 and S-9 Shakarpur.

During the course of proceedings, the chief justice remarked that it was a matter of public interest, which had been raised before the top court several times.

The ECP should ensure delimitation in a transparent way as it could affect the volume of votes to the candidates, he observed, adding there was more sensitivity in the regard in the province of Sindh.

The CJP asked from the ECP’s Director General Law regarding the elections schedule, saying so far no date had been fixed in that regard.

The court instructed the ECP to resolve all such matters before the general elections and sent the matter to Commission.

KDA organizes sports events to mark Independence Day

NARAN, Aug 15 (APP): The picturesque tourist destination Naran came alive with vibrant celebrations of the 76th Independence as the Kaghan Development Authority (KDA) arranged a series of competitions on this occasion.

The event was organized on the bank of River Kunhar where approximately five thousand rare juvenile brown trout fish were also released, underscoring the commitment to environmental preservation.

Local residents and a multitude of tourists enthusiastically participated in various activities, including rafting along the crystal-clear water of the River Kunhar. The competitions encompassing races, cricket matches, and rock climbing challenges further enriched the festivities.

District Administration Mansehra also took many initiatives to bolster the trout fish population in the River Kunhar, releasing around five thousand fish into its waters. Dr. Amel Zaman, Chairman KDA, and Director General Tariq Khan conferred certificates and prizes to the various competition winners.

Chairman Dr. Amel Zaman Khan while addressing the prize distribution underscored the significance of the Independence Day celebrations in Naran. He emphasized that every part of the event was dedicated to the memory of the nation’s martyrs, whose sacrifices have paved the way for peace and security across the country.

The chairman also expressed his confidence in the nation’s secure future and the ongoing celebrations of freedom.
