ISLAMABAD, Aug 15 (APP): The Embassy of Pakistan in Jakarta celebrated the 76″ anniversary of the Independence Day of Pakistan on August 14, with traditional fervor in a simple but dignified ceremony.

The ceremony was attended by a large number of Pakistani diaspora along with their families, friends from Indonesia, and media representatives, said a press release on Tuesday.

Pakistan’s Charge d’ Affairs Muhammad Faisal Fayyaz hoisted the national flag and read out the messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Culture dept asked to clear heritage status of Karoonjhar Mountain

HYDERABAD, Aug 15 (APP): The Sindh High Court has given a week to Sindh Culture and Tourism Department to submit a reply to a petition concerning the auctioning of Karoonjhar Mountain.

The Hyderabad Circuit Bench on Tuesday warned the concerned secretary that he would be summoned in person if his department failed to submit a reply by the next date of hearing fixed for August 22.

During the hearing, the bench observed that the Sindh Government had withdrawn the advertisement for auctioning that mountain in Tharparkar district, and the matter of declaring the site as heritage remained undecided.

The petitioner advocate Shankar Lal Meghwar prayed the court to order the provincial government to declare the mountain, which was considered sacred and historic besides being a source of livelihood for the local population, as heritage.

He cited the laws including the Ancient Monuments Preservation Act, of 1904, and the Sindh Cultural Heritage Preservation Act, of 1994, under which the government was supposed to declare that site as heritage.

“A significant historical figure, Syed Qaim Ali Shah stands as the sole surviving member of the 1973 Constitutional Committee, having the distinct honor of signing the Constitution. Given his extensive political, social, constitutional, and public contributions, the conferment of the esteemed Nishan-e-Imtiaz, Pakistan’s highest civilian award, is seen as a commendable acknowledgment,” he maintained.

Another prominent figure spotlighted in the Speaker’s message was the late Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Shaheed Mufti Abdul Shakoor.

Revered for his principled political leadership and renowned religious scholarship, Mufti Abdul Shakoor’s enduring legacy was underscored by Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf. “A posthumous recognition through the Nishan-e-Imtiaz for his religious and political contributions further commemorates his invaluable service,” he added.

Additional Secretary for Legislation at the NA, Muhammad Mushtaq, was also celebrated for his exceptional dedication and competence. Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf emphasized the pivotal role of the NA as a constitutional cornerstone and lauded officers like Mushtaq as invaluable assets.

Commending Mushtaq’s pivotal role in enhancing legislative efficiency, he expressed gratitude for his outstanding contributions. The hope was expressed that officers like Muhammad Mushtaq would continue to shape the institution’s progress and the country’s welfare.

ICT Food Authority reviews arrangements for annual ‘Langar’ at Bari Imam

ISLAMABAD, Aug 15 (APP):A team from the local administration’s food authority on Tuesday visited the shrine of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif, also known as Bari Imam Sarkar, to review arrangements for the annual “Langar” (community meal) to prevent distribution of the substandard food among devotees.

The initiative was taken on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon, said the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration’s spokesman while talking to the media.

He said the food authority’s team which had visited the shrine was led by Dr. Tahira Sadiq.

The spokesman said the deputy commissioner had issued strict directives for the food authority to ensure the provision of hygienic food among the visitors.

Shah Abdul Latif Kazmi was a 17th-century Sufi saint born in 1617 and died in 1705.

TMA Hangu unveils app for easy access to municipal services

PESHAWAR, Aug 15 (APP):Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Hangu launched an E-TMA app to make access to municipal services easy.

The launching ceremony of the app was held at the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Office, Hangu on Tuesday.

TMA Hangu has developed the app in collaboration with FCDO (Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO)–Funded Sub-National Governance (SNG) Programme .

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hangu, Fazal Akbar highlighted the role of the app in establishing a transparent and efficient governance system tailored to meet the needs of the people.

This pioneering digital solution, developed in partnership with the Local Government, Elections, and Rural Development (LGERD) KP, represents a significant stride towards a digitally empowered and citizen-centric society.

Notably, the E-TMA app’s pilot project was first successfully introduced in Swabi district. Building upon this success, TMA Hangu in collaboration with SNG Programme takes the initiative to the next level.

The app is poised to revolutionise access to municipal services, offering convenience, transparency, and efficiency to residents and businesses alike.

The E-TMA app is designed to simplify the process of accessing municipal services by providing a seamless digital platform for various service applications. With the aim of reducing physical visits to government offices and bureaucratic obstacles, people can now effortlessly submit applications from their homes.

The app introduces a real-time progress tracking feature, enabling users to monitor the status of their service requests, fostering transparency and accountability.

Speaking on behalf of SNG Pakistan, Kashif Ali, the District Team Lead, expressed his enthusiasm and said that the E-TMA app launch symbolizes our unwavering belief in the potential of digital transformation to foster inclusive and sustainable development.

On PM Kakar’s directives, PMDC reshedules MDCAT test to Sep 10

ISLAMABAD, Aug 15 (APP): Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) on Tuesday rescheduled the MDCAT examination to September 10, in pursuance of Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar’s directive aimed at facilitating the students aspiring to get admission in medical colleges.

“It is to inform all MDCAT 2023 aspirants that as per the directions from the Federal Secretary, Ministry of National Health Service Regulations and Coordination Islamabad, that the Federal Government has decided to extend and reschedule the MDCAT Examination to a new date i.e. 10th September 2023,” said a circular issued by the PMDC.

Earlier, the MDCAT test was scheduled to be held on August 27, a PM Office statement said.

The prime minister had issued the directives, on the request of the students as rescheduling would give extra time to the students to prepare for the examination.

Caretaker PM visits Maulana Fazl’s residence to condole over death of party workers

ISLAMABAD, Aug 15 (APP): Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Tuesday visited the residence of Amir of Jammiat-e-Ulema Islam (JUI-F) Maulana Fazalur Rehman to express condolences on the death of his party workers who were martyred during a terrorist attack on a party convention in Khar, district Bajaur.

Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori also accompanied the prime minister, PM Office Media Wing said in a press release.

The prime minister offered Fateha for the departed souls and prayed for the early recovery of the injured.

He reiterated that terrorist elements could not deter the spirits of Pakistani nation and assured taking of steps against terrorism and maintenance of law and order in the country on priority basis.

Maulana Fazalur Rehman, on the occasion, felicitated the PM Kakar on assuming the office of the caretaker prime minister and extended his best wishes.
