Street child football team members visit SCCI

SIALKOT, Aug 19 (APP):The Street Child Team of the Muslim Hands NGO, which won the second position in the Youth Largest Football Tournament, Norway Cup 2023, visited the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Saturday.
SCCI Vice President Amer Majeed welcomed the team members. An event was jointly held by the SCCI and the Muslim Hands NGO to encourage the runner-up team. The SCCI vice president congratulated all players of the team and paid tribute to Muslim Hands, team management and players.
Country Director Muslim Hands Ziaul Noor thanked SCCI VP Amer Majeed Sheikh, Chairman AirSial Fazal Jilani, former chairman Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) Khawaja Masood Akhar and Sialkot business community.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 19 (APP): Saudi Ambassador Nawaf Bin Saeed Almalki on Saturday congratulated caretaker interior minister Sarfraz Bugti for his nomination in the caretaker setup.
Excellency Nawaf Bin Saeed Almalki called on the caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti in his office and discussed issues of mutual interest including bilateral relations.
Sarfaz Bugti said that Pakistan and Saudia Arabia enjoyed very historic cordial relations and the people of Pakistan attached special affections with Khadmain Harmain Shareefain.
The minister also appreciated the role of Excellency Nawaf Bin Saeed Almalki in strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries.

Seven held for kite flying

SIALKOT, Aug 19 (APP):The district police have arrested seven persons for flying kites during a crackdown on kite sellers and flyers in Sialkot district.
According to details, Hajipura police arrested Shakeel, Irfan, Qasim, Saleem, Shahzaib, Baqir Hussain, while Bilal was arrested from Ghoenke area of Motra police station. They were flying kites despite a ban and seized kites and strings from them.
Police have sent the accused behind bars after registering separate cases against them.

7 dead, 1,201 injured in Punjab road accidents

LAHORE, Aug 19 (APP):At least seven persons were killed and 1,201 others injured in 1,165 road traffic crashes in Punjab during the last 24 hours, according to a press release, issued by Rescue-1122 here on Saturday.
As many as 590 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 611 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by the rescue medical teams.
The data analysis showed that 619 drivers, 49 underage drivers, 162 pedestrians, and 427 passengers were among the victims of road traffic crashes. The statistics show that 297 accidents were reported in Lahore, which affected 308 persons, placing the provincial capital at top of the list, followed by 81 in Multan with 82 victims, and at third Faisalabad with 56 accidents and 56 victims.
According to the data, 996 motorbikes, 45 auto-rickshaws, 124 motorcars, 32 vans, 11 passenger buses, 38 trucks and 124 other types of vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in these road accidents.

Adviser to CM Punjab Wahab Riaz acknowledges feats of Pakistani jockeys

LAHORE, Aug 19 (APP): Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab on Sports and Youth Affairs Wahab Riaz has acknowledged the incredible accomplishments of Pakistani jockeys who made the country proud in the 1000 km most toughest Mongol Derby horse race and Pakistan Street Child Team that secured the silver medal at Norway Cup. He showered praise on jockeys here at a meet up in the presence of large number of media persons at National Hockey Stadium on Saturday.

Wahab Riaz congratulated both the teams on their overwhelming performance. “It was the first time that Pakistan riders participated in the Mongol Derby race which is rated as the world’s most difficult racing event”.
He said four Pakistani jockeys covered a distance of 1,000 kilometers through rugged terrains. “Among them, Moazzam Hayat secured the fifth position while Dr Fahad Jamil, Dr Umar Hayat and Umair Qaimkhani jointly achieved the seventh position”.

He said that Pakistan riders exhibited excellent performance and emerged as the top position holders among all the teams. “Indeed, it is a remarkable accomplishment and a proud moment for the entire nation, he added.
He said Pakistani youth are very talented. All the medal winners in international sports competitions are our heroes and it is our responsibility to honour and encourage our heroes. “Pakistan has been blessed with amazing talent in all fields. I congratulate all the participants of Mongolian derby and street child team stars for unique feats”.
Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab on Sports said that a meeting of participants of Mongolian derby and street child team stars with Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi will be arranged where Caretaker Chief Minister will also give prize money to these heroes.

Wahab Riaz also gave appreciation certificates to Mongolian Derby riders and players and officials of street child football team including Asad Nasir, Adeel, Shahmeer Sharif, Abdul Wahab, Tufail Khan, Obaidullah Khan, M Ali, Abid Ali, M Abdullah, Sahil Gul, Saud Ahmed, Faisal Ahmed, Ali Asif, Ahmed Raza Khan, Team coach M Rasheed, officials Awais, Zia un Noor, Zeeshan Ehsan, Asif Mehmood Rathore, Rehan Tahir and Qamar Ata.

It may be noted here that the Pakistan Street Child Team participated at Norway Cup played from July 29 to August 5, 2023 in Oslo, Norway. Pakistan’s vice-captain Asad Nasir was adjudged the best player of the grand football event.
It was the fourth participation of the Pakistan Street Child Football team in Street Child events. Pakistani players clinched bronze medal in Brazil in 2014, silver medal in Russia in 2018, silver medal in Qatar in 2022 and silver medal in Norway in 2023.

SIALKOT, Aug 19 (APP):President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Abdul Ghafoor Malik, Senior Vice President (SVP) Wahub Jahangir, Vice President (VP) Amer Majeed Sheikh and Executive Committee members have strongly condemned the recent incident taking place in Jaranwala on August 16, 2023, in which churches and houses of Christian community members were set ablaze by a mob.
The shocking act of violence caused deep concerns among the business community of Sialkot, they said and stressed the need for immediate action to maintain law and order in the province.
The SCCI office-bearers expressed solidarity with the affected community, saying that the incident was in sheer contradiction to the principles of tolerance, coexistence and respect for all religious beliefs that Pakistani society upholds. The called upon the federal government, the Punjab government and the law-enforcers to take stern action against the culprits.
