Illegal slaughter house sealed; huge quantity of sick animals’ meat seized

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Aug 22 (APP): The district administration has closed down an illegal slaughterhouse and seized thousands of kilograms of sick animals’ meat during a raid conducted in Mohallah Garhiban, opposite Besakhi ground.
According to a spokesman of the administration, following the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Mansoor Arshad, a special team headed by Assistant Commissioner Dera Farhan Ahmad and comprised of Revenue department, TMA and local police officials raided the illegal slaughterhouse.
During the raid, the team found that sick and emaciated animals were being slaughtered there. On which, the team sealed the slaughterhouse for preparing hazardous meat from emaciated and sick animals. Some live sick animals were also recovered from there.
On inquiry, it was found that the person named Khuram Shahzad, who was running the illegal slaughterhouse, was not present at the scene.
It is worth mentioning here that this meat was being supplied to R-Bannu Beef Pulau whose representative was also found present from the slaughterhouse.
The assistant commissioner took the unhealthy meat into custody while the butchers and representatives of hotels and restaurants present on the spot were handed over to the police for legal action.
The assistant commissioner said the district administration always trying to provide relief to the people.
He said no one would be allowed to play with public health and such operations would be continued.

04 gamblers arrested during raid

RAWALPINDI, Aug 22 (APP):Police have arrested four gamblers and recovered bet money Rs 9,800, 02 mobile phones from their possession during crackdown here on Tuesday.
According to police spokesman, Ganjmandi police conducted raid and arrested gamblers who were identified as Sagheer, Muhammad Ejaz, Muhammad Nadeem and Waqas Tariq.
Police have registered separate cases against all of them and further investigation was in progress.
SP Rawal Faisal Saleem congratulated the Ganjmandi police and said that gambling is the root cause of other evils. He said that the accused cannot escape from the grip of the law.

Minister proposes ‘Business Park’ initiative to enhance trade

ISLAMABAD, Aug 22 (APP): Caretaker Federal Minister for Commerce, Dr Gohar Ejaz on Tuesday proposed a “Business Park” initiative to enhance trade for sustainable economic growth in the country. 

In a bid to consolidate Pakistan’s global trade connections, the Federal Minister has unveiled his intention to establish Business Parks in major cities, said a press release issued here. 

These parks or Facilitation Centres for traders would be designed to serve as hubs for foreign traders, enhancing trade relationships and driving economic growth.

He said this during a meeting held on Tuesday at his office in Islamabad, where he met with prominent exporters and trader Fawad Mukhtar, CEO of Fatima Fertilizer.

Anwaar Ahmad Ghani, CEO of Ghani Glass Ltd, Mian M Ahsan US apparel and denim, Shahid Soorti CEO of Soorti Textile,  Fawad Javaid, Din Textile, Faisal Afridi, Haier Appliances, to discuss his vision. 

The minister reiterated his determination to explore every avenue possible to realize Pakistan’s export potential.

Dr. Gohar Ejaz observed that the proposed Business Parks would be poised as vital stepping stones in realizing Pakistan’s economic growth and prosperity on the global stage.

With a focus on immediate solutions, the establishment of buying houses or the utilization of rental buildings managed by the local business community also came under discussion.

These measures would aim at addressing the pressing need for the facilitation of foreign traders.

Expressing his resolute commitment to increasing the country’s exports, Dr Ejaz emphasized the necessity to adopt a strategic approach. 

The minister proposed targeting specific countries according to their respective sectors, thus maximizing the impact of Pakistan’s export efforts. 

This tailored strategy, he believes, will yield more favorable results and enhance Pakistan’s global trade relationships.
Promising the full support of the government to the business community, the minister assured that their concerns and challenges will be effectively addressed. 

To facilitate Pakistani entrepreneurs on the international stage, he directed relevant authorities to ensure comprehensive assistance through the ministry’s Trade and Investment Officers posted in Missions abroad.

During the meeting, establishing efficient banking channels to facilitate seamless trade, particularly with Central Asian Countries was also discussed. 

He said that the Government’s focus on fostering strong economic ties with these nations reflects the government’s commitment to expanding Pakistan’s trade horizons.

As the proposal to establish Business Parks gains momentum, Dr Gohar Ejaz’s vision stands poised to redefine Pakistan’s trade landscape.

With the support of the business community and strategic government initiatives, this ambitious endeavor holds the promise of bolstering the nation’s economic prowess and global trade stature.
