FM hails removal of Pakistan from UK high-risk countries' list

ISLAMABAD, Nov 14 (APP): Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday said the United Kingdom had officially removed Pakistan from its list of ‘High-Risk Third Countries’ following their early completion of Financial Action Task Force action plans, which was good news.

On his Twitter handle, the foreign minister termed the development as ‘some good news’ and shared a note verbale of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, UK.

“The amendment removes Pakistan from the list in accordance with the decision taken by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) on 21 October 2022. The FCDO recognizes the progress Pakistan has made to improve money laundering and terrorist financing controls,” the note said.

Every district needs specialized hospital for psychological disorder ailments: Health Minister

ISLAMABAD, Nov 14 (APP): Federal Minister for Health Abdul Qadir Patel on Monday said that every single district of Pakistan should have a specialized hospital for the treatment of mental and psychological disorders.

Speaking here at the floor of the National Assembly, the minister said that the nation was under immense stress for the last four years due to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chief Imran Khan.

He told the national assembly that several students appeared for the MDCAT test, calling it a historical moment that the test was conducted across Pakistan starting and ending at the same time.

He said the provinces were allowed to take tests according to their own syllabus and the entire procedure completed successfully.

He said in the past, students used to pay fees in thousands of rupees and syllabus used to be different for every student and examination papers used to be prepared in centre.

Sindh Culture Minister inaugurates Sindh Theatre Festival-2022

HYDERABAD, Nov 14 (APP): Provincial Minister for Tourism and Culture Syed Sardar Ali Shah inaugurated the Sindh Theatre Festival- 2022 at Mehran Arts Council on Monday.

Cultural programs will be organized in other cities of Sindh under Sindh Theatre Festival.

President Arts Council of Karachi Syed Ahmed Ali Shah, artists of Hyderabad city were also present in the inaugural ceremony.

Earlier, the culture minister also visited Sindhi Language Authority where its chairman Dr Ishaq Samejo and Secretary Prof. Shabnam Gul along with members of the board of governors accorded the minister a warm welcome.

10 periodical reports of various standing committees presented in NA

ISLAMABAD, Nov 14 (APP): Ten periodical reports were presented of various standing committees of certain time frame in the National Assembly (NA) on Monday.

The NA bodies on science and technology, parliamentary affairs, maritime affairs, energy (Power Division) and energy (Petroleum Division) presented periodical reports for the period from 1st January, 2021 to 30th June, 2021, as required by the rule 234-A of Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the NA, 2007.

Moreover, the NA bodies on public accounts (Public Accounts Committee), religious affairs and interfaith harmony and national food security and research presented periodical reports for the period from 1st July, 2020 to 31st December, 2020, under the same rules and regulations.

However, the NA bodies on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Kashmir presented periodical reports for the period from 1st January, 2020 to 31st December, 2020, as required by rule 234-A of the rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the NA, 2007.

It should be noted that NA Standing Committee on Science and Technology Chairman Sajid Mehdi presented its committee’s report while NA Standing Committee on Law and Justice Chairman Chaudhry Mahmood Bashir Virk presented reports on behalf of the chairmen of rest of the committees in the NA.

Meanwhile, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Murtaza Javed Abbasi laid annual report of the Council of Common Interests (CCI), for the year 2020-21, before the house, as required by Clause (4) of Article 153 of the Constitution

He also on behalf of Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Syed Amin ul Haq laid the annual report on Universal Service and Research and Development Fund of the Federal Government for the year 2020-21, before the house as required by Section 33-A and 33-E of the Pakistan Telecommunication (Re-Organization) Act, 1996.
