NCP heavy bikes worth Rs 3 mln seized in DI Khan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Aug 23 (APP):The district police on Wednesday impounded two Non-Custom Paid (NCP) heavy bikes worth Rs 3 million in the limits of Daraban Police Station.
According to a police spokesman, a police team supervised by SDPO Kulachi Circle Sagheer Abbas Gilani and led by Daraban Police Station SHO Abdul Ghaffar Khan along with Daraban Check post-Incharge Ikram Ullah foiled a bid of smuggling and recovered two NCP heavy bikes.
The heavy bikes, bearing numbers BAK-028 and KBU-555 worth around Rs 3 million, were being smuggled to Dera Ismail Khan from Darazinda area.
Later, the police handed over the recovered NCP heavy bikes to the customs authorities.

SCCI, Gomal Uni agreed to enhance industry-academia linkages

PESHAWAR, Aug 23 (APP):In order to build up industry-academia linkages, the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Gomal University Dera Ismail Khan here on Wednesday.
According to details, the MoU was signed by SCCI’s acting President Ijaz Khan Afridi and the Director Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), Gomal University DIKhan Dr Barkat Ali Khan during a ceremony held here today at the chambers house.
Abidur Rehman, Personal Secretary to Vice Chancellor, Gomal University DIKhan and SCCI’s Secretary General Sajjad Aziz were also present on the occasion.
In his remarks during the meeting, Ijaz Afridi informed that the chamber has so far signed MoUs with more than 16 public and private universities throughout the province, aiming to build up industry and academia linkages.
He said the MoU with Gomal University DIKhan was part of this series of agreements, which would help to strengthen collaboration between the institutions in future.
Ijaz Afridi elaborated that the MoU aims at equipping graduates and young students with technical skills besides the completion of their academic careers so that it will enable them to get instant employment opportunities in markets.
The SCCI’s acting chief stressed the need to provide a proper platform to youth for the utilization of their abilities efficiently and continue playing a role in the country’s economic prosperity and progress.
Sajjaz Aziz, Secretary General briefed the visiting officials of Gomal University DIKhan regarding the chamber’s importance, origin, functions and other key role in providing services and facilities to the business community.
Earlier, Dr Barkat Ali Khan in the meeting briefed about ORIC, administrative and academic matters of Gomal University DIKhan in a comprehensive manner.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 23 (APP): Pakistan’s Hamza Saeed has bagged a bronze medal in the World Taekwondo Octagon (Octagon) Diamond Games 2023 at Chuncheon, Korea.

According to details, Hamza Saeed defeated Mohammad Ashraf of Afghanistan by 2-1 in the quarter-final of the event.
Meanwhile, Ryong Woo Li of Korea won 2-0 against Hamza Saeed in the semifinal of the event.
Pakistan’s Aqdasullah Qadeer and Naila also won bronze medals in Poomsae Event of World Taekwondo Beach Championship G-2.

CM Ali Mardan experiences travel in Green Bus, inquires from passengers

QUETTA, Aug 23 (APP):Caretaker Chief Minister of Balochistan Ali Mardan Khan Domki on Wednesday experienced travel in green bus and inquired from the passengers about travelling facilities.
Talking to the passengers, the caretaker chief minister said that efforts would be taken to expand the green bus service to other routes to facilitate maximum numbers of Quetta dwellers.
He said that appreciated the previous government on launching green bus service and termed it a best initiative of public welfare.
The Caretaker Chief Minister directed the Provincial Secretary Transport, present on the occasion to prepare a plan immediately to expand the project of green bus to other areas of the Quetta city.
 He said that safe travel in a pleasant environment is the right of the citizens and feel glad that our female segment can now travel with satisfaction.
He announced extension in the timing of Green Bus service by one hour in the evening from 7 P.M. to 8 P.M.

Urs of Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya commences

MULTAN, Aug 23 (APP):The three-day 784th annual Urs celebrations of the revered saint of sub-continent Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya commenced, here on Wednesday.
The ceremonies of the Urs started after the tomb was given bath by Makhdoom Zain Hussain Qureshi, his uncle Mureed Hussain Qureshi and other members of the family.
In the absence of the caretaker Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the bath ceremony took an unexpected turn as controversy surfaced between Mureed Hussain Qureshi and Makhdoom Zain Qureshi in the matter pertaining to bathing of the tomb. Makhdoom Zain has started the bath ceremony before arrival of his uncle Mureed Hussain Qureshi. Meanwhile , Mureed Hussain Qureshi arrived at the tomb and expressed displeasure stating “This is my grandfather’s grave and how could bath ceremony begin sans me”.
Mureed Hussain Qureshi took the matters into his own hand and also conducted the ceremonial bathing of the shrine. Mureed Hussain Qureshi concluded the ritual with prayers.
A large number of devotees from across the country joined the ceremonies of the Urs. Ulema and scholars paid rich tribute to the saint for the promotion of peace, brotherhood, and Islamic teachings.
